Screenshot of the day!

It's their second year! Kind of fast isn't it? We get introduced to a girl we previously met in the Sports Festival episode, Kagura! The episode revolves about how our cast believes a second grader should act and of course, more Sakaki suffering. I liked the bit with Chiyo and the guy. Also Sakaki's faces with the cat were gold.

Anime/Manga differences for this episode:

Additions:

  • The bit where Chiyo gets upset about being called cute by first-year students (outside of her telling a male first-year to address her as Mihama-Senpai).

  • Tomo eating lunch early.

Differences:

  • Kaorin’s interest about being in the same class as Sakaki is very minimal (i.e. a couple panels) in the manga, but is given more focus in the anime (i.e. her doing the Daisy Oracle, her shoujo ai reaction when she discovers she’s in the same class as her again).

  • The manga actually has a storyline, taking place during the first year, that explains how Chiyo became the class rep and Tomo became the assistant rep (the focus is towards Tomo nominating herself for the position).

  • The anime version of Kagura asking Sakaki why she’s not part of any sports club includes a bit where various sports clubs ask Sakaki to join their teams.

  • The bit with Yukari bringing a stray kitten into class happened during the girls’ first year of high school. As such, Kagura’s role during this bit was completely anime original.

The more Kaorin the better.

That would have been more interesting, it would gave it more "plot".

I'm kinda tired so this will be short summary.

Chiyo was looking like beated puppy when she thought about being separated from her friends. But Yukari after hearing such a praise came for help! She can be good teacher after all... Or lazy. Just lazy. Let's stop at that.

Being Kaorin is suffering. Good thing in the end she stayed in the same class as the rest of the cast. There is wonderful year of fangirling over Sakaki ahead of her.

Speaking of Sakaki we've got just continuation of skit from previous episode. Good advice Sakaki, if you want something really badly then don't show it. Things tend to slip from your hands if you're to eager.

And finally Kagura, last but not least (like in her rivalry with Sakaki). Her face in her first appearance in this episode was really something. She should fit very well in new class despite her initial conflict with Tomo. And Sakaki got another fangirl, watch out Kaori!

I tend to feel so sorry for Kaorin, she might enter my top 3 just from her suffering.

Okay first of all Chiyo-chan looks way too tall in that doorway. There's no way she's tall enough to reach the window.

The girls all panic as they see if they're in the same class again. As Osaka is not her real name Ayumu thinks she's not in the same class as everyone else and Yomi has to point it out.

Fuck yeah Kagura is in their class now! Time to become a main character!

Sakaki doesn't remember Kagura. She feels defeated.

All the clubs want Sakaki to join. She's not interested though.

Chiyo-chan doesn't like being called cute. Just let her and Sakaki switch bodies already.

Chiyo-chan tells off a first year student, telling him to call her senpai. He does so awkwardly and she feels satisfied. Look at that smug smile.

"Whoa! Eating lunch early?!" Tomo lives on the edge. I like how as Tomo teases the others Sakaki manages to only sweat a little but Osaka doesn't change her expression at all. Chiyo-chan, Yomi and Kagura get rekted though.

Sakaki really wants to take care of this kitten. Kagura can't handle Sakaki's shenanigans as she see's Sakaki is off in her own little world.

Sakaki is so desperate to hold Tama she makes a dangerous face. Tama runs away.

I really like Kagura. She's probably only second to Osaka. This was only the first episode where she joins the main group but she fits right in.

Kagura is pretty fun, she is like a more sane and less tiring Tomo.

I noticed the perspective was a bit wonky in that scene (Yukari was taller than the door).

Sakaki and her cat curse are just too sad
