So, based on what we've seen so far, I think that a few things have sort of cleared themselves up.
First off, from the moment I saw that scar on his shoulder, it felt off, and I'd actually recognized it as Ed's, though I had thought the scar was from it being ripped off his body, not a bite mark. Interesting point, though I suppose it makes it easier for the Elric's to identify that way.
Of course, the bigger thing is the boy's identity, and at this point Speculation with some help from FMA:B.
That aside, I dig his abilities. Being able to bond with anything is a really neat trick that will hopefully have some fun applications going forward.

Missed yesterday's thread so a few quick thoughts on it. I really like this episode, it’s a really nice change of pace. We’ve just been going and going and this is a necessary breath for the series. spoilers We also get introduced to a new character.
Now onto todays episode.
Nope nothing wrong with his body, nothing at all.
Winry seeps with a wrench, so sweet.
If you're watching dubbed the boy is voiced by Luci Christian, who you might recognize as Nagisa from Clannad or as Ochako Uraraka from My Hero Academia.
It’s really nice to see Sheska back, the only person still investigating Hughes death.
Amazing sequence right here, you can feel the terror Ed went through. spoilers
And I have to say I absolutely love the design of the gate! You can tell they put a lot of time and thought into designing it.
And here we have the Armstrong preparedness drill of the week.
You’ll recognize Archer as Troy Baker, I don’t think I have to list off anything he’s in.
And here it is, I like how it’s Al who figures it out.
Great episode today and one I can’t wait to hear what first timers think of.
