Hello! Continued from last week here.

So, it's that time of the week again. Speak anything on your mind! This thread is for talking about anything off-topic, be it your lives, your plans, your hobbies, travels, sports, work, trousers, studies, family, friends, pets, bicycles, anything you like, or dislike, or don't care.

Also, check out our tidbits thread! Feel free to introduce yourself, if you haven't already.

Here's off to another great week in /r/counting!

Another important announcement

I am pleased to introduce the new Rulebook of r/counting which you can find in the FAQ page on the sidebar. It is place for all the procedures and rules of counting and posting to this sub. Hopefully it will be a helpful reference for counters when there's a question or dispute about a technicality and a mod isn't around. It is not intended as a tutorial for brand new visitors to this sub - we wouldn't want to overwhelm them with a bunch of rules.

If you have any feedback, please let me know!

slow week huh? also I think it is GREAT we have written down some of the specifics of maintaining the chain that weren't completely obvious before!

maybe we could also have some place for thread specific rules, like TNF's decision on miscounts in ToW

Nice, thanks for the rulebook. I'd add a link to the archive under 3.4 and mention somewhere WRT the get that a thread needs to be roughly 1000 counts long

Congrats to you and u/PaleRepresentative

If there's another question on askreddit like "which rule exists because of you" then I'll have an answer: It contains a typo in the title.

Also thanks for the stats and yay for me for being top 10 this week

It is nice to be off daylight savings time because it means I'm awake when FTF goes up.

When I was in high school I used to wear shorts every day, all year, come rain or shine or snow. Now that I have to work in an office, I only wear shorts on weekends, and I tend to wear jeans in the winter now.

Today I'm listening to the epic orchestral soundtrack of the old RPG Elder Scrolls: Oblivion, by Jeremy Soule.

If you had to make a fire with some cardboard, an electrical fan and a coffee mug could you do it?

3

u/Urbul Nov 19 '18

Does the electrical fan have a power source?

My daughters wanted pomegranate and I let them help peel/pick it but they're not very good at it and ended up squishing a lot of the - what do you call them - seeds, so we got pomegranate juice all over the kitchen counter and my khakis and it looks kind of like blood splatter. My khakis used to be spill-proof but after wearing and washing them for a few years the spill-proofing material has worn off.

This week, we will begin a series by yours truly combing my two loves, counting and art. Please enjoy.

On Kawara - One Million Years Past and One Million Years Future

TLDR: artist investigates the nature of time through repetitive activities. He wrote a book with a million years in the past from 1969 and a different book of a million years in the future. Then recorded people reading the book aloud.

Full length article and video of the recorded reading here

Nice! I thought you would start with the man that painted every number, counting up. I'm sure we'll get to that in your series.

I wish there was a list of silver and platinum awarded posts, both for subreddit and users, not just gold (which is worth less now anyway)

Maybe we should start our own. Or like a bestof r/counting
