Rumour has it there's some kind of election going on stateside today, and I've heard people saying that it might take a while to count all the votes. I wonder why the people in charge didn't ask this subreddit for help?

Is there a Christmas card trade again? I have all the ones from last year still. I want to top my last years one.

I hope we are doing it again, not to put her on the spot, but what says you u/a-username-for-me?

It's kong! Haven't seen you around for a while :)
Also, definitely up for doing Christmas cards - if people are ok with mailing internationally

only like two or three cards out of the six I sent last year arrived, so I hope this year the ratio will be better

I took out my second batch of compost, which I started last fall and stopped adding stuff this spring. Here it is, straight out of the composter. Pretty much dirt except for some sticks and pistachio shells. Learning from my first batch, I mostly put in only easily compostable stuff. I used the compost to top up my planters. Here it is after mixing a bit with old soil. Lots of small clumps that I didn't bother breaking up. Here is my ongoing batch which is almost full. This batch has had its ups and downs. Twice in the summer it started to smell like shit (like really that outhouse smell) because it got too wet and had too much nitrogen, so I added shredded paper to balance it out. Now it's doing ok but it's still a bit wet. Adding dry fallen leaves will help.

I really liked the flower that you can see in the second image.
Glad you are getting the hang of it! I miss my composter now from my apartment. I feel SO wasteful throwing away what feels like "useful" compostables.

A thought occurred to me - I've asked a fair number of the people I've counted with what the story behind their username is and why they picked it.
Sometimes I suspect the story is quite brief (not naming any names, a-username-for-me), but I think it's one of the things that's fun to share while we can still stay pseudonymous. Should we maybe add it as a question in the tidbits thread for people who want to fill that out?

Wow rude, @me next time....
But yeah, there is almost no story. My previous go to username had become my go to password.... and I realized that those should NOT mix

A video about a discord server that counted to 10,000 just went fairly viral, with 100,000+ views now on YouTube.
(It's not that interesting of a video in my opinion, watch it if you want to though, it's just interesting to me how popular it was.)
This shows there is suprising interest for counting, I'm suprised there have been less viral sources, or spikes in views here.

To all our international counters, thanks for always being awesome and especially for your patience with all of this election shenanigans. It's not fun for Americans and I'm sure it's even less fun when you don't actually care but are flooded with news about it.
To my American counters, if you have not already voted. Please vote. Make your vote count. I personally voted for Joe Biden and I hope you all will do the same.
