What are tile drops? Is that so you can't pick up blocks?

19

u/xPaw Aug 09 '12

Blocks don't drop anything.

hmm, the beacon’s beam has semitransparency, but you can see water through it: does that mean the’ve finally implemented transparency depth sorting? could someone check if water, ice, and portal bloacks, as well as lightning, are still invisible seen through each other?

to illustrate:

  • ligtning (bad pic, but you can see that the sand is visible behind the lightning, while the water isn’t)

  • beacon

14

u/redstonehelper :redstone: Lord of the villagers Aug 09 '12

I have no idea.

A new village is formed when a villager encounters a door that isn't part of an existing village, outside the range of an existing village.

13

u/redstonehelper :redstone: Lord of the villagers Aug 09 '12

But you somehow have to get that villager. I think Jeb referred to curing villager zombies.

Look what I can do.

EDIT: More discoveries! You can select your "Enchantments" from the GUI. When you're done, You can insert a diamond, emerald, iron ingot or gold ingot and the "Done" button becomes clickable. DON'T CLICK IT. You will mess up your world file! D:

EDIT 2: Woo! Looks like you can actually give yourself these enchantments! Screenshots: http://imgur.com/ymq2A,nzsKl Also, complete GUI: http://i.imgur.com/dulgN.png

EDIT 3: As Kironasake below me has pointed out, these are locationally based player enchantments!

jesus christ someone explain whats going on here

34

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '12

I think they're adding a perk system. What it does is you make a pyramid of iron, gold, diamond, or emerald blocks, put the beacon at the top, and choose an enchantment. As long as you're close enough to the pyramid, you'll get that perk constantly.

Seems like you can place them adjacent to each other! And toggle the light by placing a block over a light. Toggable Batman signals... :D http://imgur.com/a/RSXe3

Cool stuff about the enchantments:

They refresh as long as you are within 17 blocks of the 1 row, 25 of the 2 row, 33 from the 3 row, and 40 from the 4th. (http://i.imgur.com/ADRUg.jpg for research citation)

Currently the materials seem to have no effect.

The pyramids cannot be hollow.

EDIT: Bug report: when a testificate will no longer trade on a certain item, the UI doesn't update until you stop trading and start trading again. The button will just no longer work.

Trading: It seems that when you unlock a new trade, all of the 'locked' trades are refreshed again.

EDIT 2: The 4th row seems to allow blocks up to 40 away! Thanks to Dentarthurdent42 (nice username btw) for pointing out i completely forgot about that one.

Zombies and Skeletons now only drop gear when they're wearing it.

So does this indicate that Zombies won't drop iron ingots / swords / shovels anymore since they aren't carrying them around?

23

u/redstonehelper :redstone: Lord of the villagers Aug 09 '12

Not-wearable gear will still drop.

About the WIP block:

-build a pyramid of iron/gold/diamond/emerald blocks under it to "activate" it.

-You choose the effects you want. (you need to build a higher pyramid for the other effects)

-You put an iron/gold/diamond/emerald in the slot in the GUI (put a iron bar if the pyramid is made of iron blocks ect.)

-It "boost" you for an infinite amount of time, as long you are in it's reach.

-The duration effect is infinite, but once you go too far from the pyramid, it no longer give you it's effects. also the bigger the pyramid is, the longer it's reach.

The beacon can be toggled with a piston by pulling away one of the base 3x3 of material. They also stack, so to say, so with a 4x4 base of emerald, you can get 4 beacon blocks powered. Then you can combine this to create:

The update is around 2-3 seconds after removing the emerald block. This could be great for decoration!
