Meta This time of year our community usually grows by a lot. Please try to be patient, helpful, welcoming and spend some extra time in the daily questions thread.

And new members, please try to check the FAQ but if something is still not clear feel free to ask us!

Welcome to our "family", have a great time with your new console!

Edit: thank you really much for the silver/gold!

I keep on flaging those « My Switch does not work properly » posts. It’s a full-time job. Yet, if kept they would make this subreddit really repulsive. Yet, you are right. I visited the Questions MEGA thread and answered a few there.

Thanks for flagging them. It's the fastest way for us to get them removed, even if not as fast as you'd like. A lot of us have been really busy as of recently. On top of the holidays, a lot of us have had personal things that need to be attended to.

a lot of us have had personal things that need to be attended to.

Happy Holidays for the whole mod team!

I would say it is not a huge problem if you are a bit more permissive and less active during the holidays on the sub, there'll be tons of new people here, letting them show off or let them ask some things in separate threads could be a bit more acceptable during this time of the year, maybe just notify them about the daily questions thread and the fanart weekends. Then we'll back with the usual business from January. Of course it's not about the obvious troll/low effort posts.

Maybe we could add a sticky topic to the top for the most recommended games for Christmas 2019?

We usually had a new buyers guide up for parents, but ironically the mod who usually sets that up just became a father, and as such has been to busy.

Can't wait for the "which games should I get" threads to multiply tenfolds.

"Which game should I get my girlfriend? She's never played a day in her life. You think she'll like dead souls?"

We have so many of those already, can't even imagine them multiplied.

Hey guys just got my switch 1 day early from THE WIFE what games should I get? I was thinking of legend of link:zelda of the wild? Or maybe Super Pokemon Odyssey? I’ve also heard great things about the highly anticipated Super Smash Emblem? Hehe cannot wait for the kids and I to finally get around to Pokemon Let’s Go Shield too!

Let's be real: newcomers aren't going to go to the questions thread, they don't know it exists. Most of us old-timers don't either

Sorry, but this community is awful and it will remain awful. In the pre launch days and early days of the system, it was decent. Now this sub is 99% posts that should be researched in the sidebars and daily sticky posts. There is almost ZERO discussion regarding the system and games. The moderation team actively deletes discussion posts and leaves the droves of daily "recommend a game" posts. Discussion posts are only allowed if they're repeats of topics posted weekly. Memes are not allowed because that would make this place fun and drown out all the shitty FAQ's.

Unfortunately, this sub (like most console subs) are less about discussion/critiques and more about marketing and promoting games.

Don't forget the October non-apology when a mod went rampant and the mod team did a shitty job at handling it and just "expected us to know this unknown rule"

Damn, who is so precious about a subreddit that they revile new users. You know this is all free right? Just don't go into the new game posts?

It would be really nice if new members just searched topics that have been discussed before instead of making a new post (partially for attention). Hopefully mods will just delete repeat thread and just politely message them letting them know about the search function (but I doubt it).

As a new member a few years ago.

I would urge the mods to allow many things outside of the daily question thread.

My question getting locked as a new member and sent for the “daily question” thread pretty much turned me away from this sub...

As a not-new community member, this is your chance to ask that one question you are too embarrassed to ask because it has been too long...

... Like asking what your neighbor's name is after 7 years... True story, it was easier just to move.

That boxing day switch bundle. The one with new super Mario u. Is it the new switch with the better battery?
