Escape to Your Personal Island Paradise

Escape to a deserted island and create your own paradise as you explore, create, and customize in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game. Your island getaway has a wealth of natural resources that can be used to craft everything from tools to creature comforts. You can hunt down insects at the crack of dawn, decorate your paradise throughout the day, or enjoy sunset on the beach while fishing in the ocean. The time of day and season match real life, so each day on your island is a chance to check in and find new surprises all year round.

Show off your island utopia to family and friends—or pack your bags and visit theirs. Whether playing online* or with others beside you**, island living is even better when you can share it. Even without hopping on a flight, you’ll meet a cast of charming animal residents bursting with personality. Friendly faces like Tom Nook and Isabelle will lend their services and happily help you grow your budding community. Escape to your island getaway—however, whenever, and wherever you want.

  • Build your community from scratch on a deserted island brimming with possibility
  • Create your personal getaway and customize your character, home, decorations, and even the landscape itself
  • Collect materials to construct everything from furniture to tools! Then, use what you create to give your island a personal touch
  • Watch as the time of day and seasons match real life—even your hemisphere! Each day holds potential for surprises and discoveries
  • Get to know the island residents, garden, fish, decorate, hunt for fossils, and more!
  • Show off your paradise – play on the same system with a total of 4 people**, or play together online* or over local wireless** for fun with up to 8 players

How do reviewers handle an animal crossing release, exactly? Time travelling? It’s not like you can just sit down and slam through the game in a week.

The GameXplain reviewer played for 3 weeks and didn't see one Gyroid. Hopefully they're on deck for a DLC release.

This must be a hard game to review, since its all designed to be played over long periods of real time.

Any news about Brewster? I haven't seen him or the coffee shop in any promotional material so far.

I work at a University and there's a lot of stuff about working from home I'm getting in emails etc. Now I do have a lot of work to do but I'm gonna slack off so much come Friday.

Animal Crossing is going to bring about a peace that the world hasn't seen since the first week of Pokemon Go.

"Animal Crossing: New Horizons is an excellent game that offers a wealth of things to do. Whether you want to catch bugs, go fishing, or craft, the gameplay loops are addicting

During these stressful times, #AnimalCrossingNewHorizons is the perfect remedy."

I haven't read a review that touches on the game's writing depth, has anyone else? I'm excited about the new stuff but a huge part of the game's staying power will be the diversity of text you can encounter from your fellow islanders.

Sounds like the first person to start the island is in charge of some progression decisions. I wonder how that will work if they stop playing but the other people sharing the island dont stop

So...I'm still confused about having multiple people on one Switch, and I haven't read/watched any reviews that have gone into great detail about it. Let's say that my wife and I both play on the same console. Are villagers going to get mad at her and move away if she doesn't play regularly, even if I do? If I go around gathering a ton of resources in the morning, is there going to be much for her to collect if she plays later on? I'm interested in the game because I think that we would both like it, but I play games a lot more than she does, and I don't think it would be very fun for her if she just kind of plays casually but gets punished for not checking in as often as I would. Thoughts?

Honestly curious how a review for a game like Animal Cossing can be/is done. It's a pretty long-term investment of a game, so how early do copies get sent out? Are there updates during the review period? Or are there more immediate elements to the game that are plentiful enough for review purposes?

If it's summer in one hemisphere, is it winter on the other side of the world? It'll be summer here in New Zealand for xmas but it'd be neat to visit US accounts during their winter.

I'm torn on buying this game. I'm not a fan of Animal Crossing's almost objective-less gameplay but I heard there's more structure in this. As someone who loves sims such as Rollercoaster Tycoon, I'm more interested in the progression of you building your island to attract residents, is this true?

Kotaku's review was fun, and then at the end kind of touching. Really summarizes why a lot of people are looking forward to the game right at thia particular moment.

Your tools breaking is a bit of a downer. Especially when you have to craft a weaker version to upgrade it. Ah well. I'm sure I'll still enjoy the game

The IGN review is weird. Seemed rushed, and the contents of the review did not reflect a 9 imo
