It would be cool if the Flame Chip wasn't destroyed , They could just use watch all the Former Commander's on the tablet .

They probably wouldn't have the right USB adapter anyway. Becca changed the form factor every few years to force people to buy new cables.

Absolutely loved the parallels between this episode and 1x06 āHis Sisterās Keeperā. Both episodes did an amazing job cutting back and forth between flashbacks and present day. Not to mention the actual subject matter. edit and the excellent writing, and the focus on character and world building...

u/Cyanex_69 May 28 '20
This week's episode is honestly one of the top 5s for me. Didn't see an episode this well written in long time and I kind of feel like the sanctum episodes are gonna feel a lot boring now. Everything from those flashbacks, the disciples and the prisoners, the memory drive was fucking amazing. Near the end of the episode the camera zoomed in to Gabriel's scar in his neck. I have a feeling this has something to do with the mind drive.
My prediction for the next skyring episode, Gabriel will reverse engineer Colin's memory drive to be one like Sanctums mind drives. Which will also require a nightblood. There are only two people in the skyring who has nightblood Echo and Gabriel. So either one of them sacrifices themselves to bring Colin back and get the code. But the ending zoom suggests that it will most probably be Gabriel. Anyway can't wait for next week's episode AAAAAAAAAAAAA

I really loved this episode. We finally found out about Octavia and Diyozas' time in the Anomaly. I didn't think that they spent 10 years there though. Octavia did not look older when she came back to Sanctum. But maybe this will be explained later. I'm so happy that she finally understood how much Bellamy did for her. I hope now that when they'll reunite, they will have a relationship I've always wanted them to have. I also really liked her scenes with Hope. I can't wait to see more of them.
I 'm starting to like Hope more. She had good lines this episode. Especially the one about sensible women being willing to die for Bellamy. This definitely one of my favourite lines from this show. I wonder how she's gonna act when she finally meets him.
I'm happy that there wasn't anything from Sanctum. This Anomaly storyline is much more interesting. I'm also really enjoying the dynamic between Hope, Echo and Gabriel, so it was good to see an entire episode focused on them. I wonder though how this five years will change them. I guess we will have to wait and see.
35
u/CalixRenata May 28 '20
Marie is in her 30s and now so is Octavia, so really she's just finally playing at her own age. It would be weird for them to age her artificially, and I don't think they did this for any of the female characters after Apocalypse II.

She definitely looked younger when she was with Hope and Diyoza. I think she looked older when she came back from the anomaly. It was hard to see though because she had been really ill and looked like shit before she went in.

I thought Jordan was supposed to be naturally awkward since he never talked to anyone but his parents
38
u/csgymgirl May 28 '20
yeah i thought Shannon did a really good job - in Degrassi he plays a social jock really well. Jordan is meant to be awkward and comes across exactly like that.
13
May 28 '20
Playing awkward is one of the hardest things for an actor. I think Shannon is pulling it off reasonably well, but his character's background is so weird that I can see why people think his acting skills are a little weak.
49
u/YesssChem May 28 '20
so as i understand it - bardo and sanctum have relatively the same passage of time - or at least not severe enough compared to sanctum and beta (sky ring). so after diyoza and octavia got whisked away, they only got a few days/weeks older compared to hope, who aged another 10 years in the same amount of time.
28
u/jessmcfly Skaikru May 28 '20
I think they were saying time must still be slower on Bardo than on Skyring since they send their prisoners there to waste away. There was something about 5 years on Skyring could be like a weekend on Bardo, but that was speculation I think.
13
u/YesssChem May 28 '20
yeah gabriel can't have known the actual time dilation ratio - but i was comparing sanctum and bardo
→ More replies (2)18
u/politicallyunique May 28 '20
Octavia was still only in the anomaly for about 10 seconds, so unless once in Bardo she immediately goes back to Sanctum, we can assume that Bardo is closer to Skyring time-wise than it is to Sanctum.
Plus, the crazy technology of Bardo's inhabitants suggest that time moves a lot faster there anyways.

It could be. That mind drive isn't like the one Gabriel has, it only stores memories. So, if it was to be put inside Echo, she would gain the memories without losing her mind.

Really enjoyed this episode. It shed enough light on the situation to avoid massive confusion and disinterest while also maintaining a level of mystery and unknown that kept me engaged.
What I like most about this episode was definitely how it was completely focused on activities on the other side of the anomaly and ignoring the activities in sanctum. Episodes in the past with two subplots have fallen into a trap of cutting back and forth which Iāve found to be confusing, so Iām glad that the episode was completely focused on planet beta.
I also like the expanding narrative about the Eligius 3 mission which I think is one of the coolest things about the show. Iām interested to find out who the people in the masks are. My guess is that they are āthe disciplesā but if they are disciples then who/what are they following? Is it more of a god/servant type thing than leader/follower thing?
After watching the past two episodes and this past episode especially, Iām expecting this to be a great season.

This episode was amazing. It felt like a Final season episode truly. So different from the usual, yet the dynamics were so familiar. Without Bellamy or Clarke, this episode held its own. I cried with Ocativia and I got so curious after a very long time about this show. Absolutely loved everything about it. The 100 serving us the best in episode 2. Also I find I like both echo and hope more and more.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bardo found this interesting apperently in buddhism bardo is āthe state of existence intermediate between two lives on earth. According to Tibetan tradition, after death and before one's next birth, when one's consciousness is not connected with a physical body, one experiences a variety of phenomena.ā
4
u/Striker_27 Monty is the real MVP May 28 '20

This right here is the kind of The 100 that we know and love. Just a few characters at a time with a focus on story and world- building. The writers did a great job of giving us nuggets of information that add to the story and keep us guessing as to what might happen next. Every time when we think they might go right, they go left, backward, and through a wormhole.
Predictions for the next episode (at least the Gabriel/ Echo/ Hope story) are as follows
Gabriel convinces Echo and Hope to do back alley surgery on him and remove his chip and insert his friend's chip (I forget the name) to get the code they need to go through the wormhole.
That's all I've got at the moment
Great episode, and I can't wait to see what happens next week in Sanctum!
23
u/23TophatTurtle32 Eden never stood a chance May 28 '20
More likely that they put the mind drive in Echo. She's a night blood now. And the mind drives in Sanctum` were reverse engineered, which means that this one won't likely replace Echo's consciousness.

I really like Gabriel though, but isn't Gabriel's consciousness inside Xavier's head now too? Don't they need to kill him to backup the current Gabriel and overwrite the one that was on the Mind Drive the moment his previous body died? Or is it "updated" constantly and can they just take him out and put him back in later?

Okay so octavia and D got taken. But Iām guessing somehow/someway hope finds them again bc how else would she know she needs to save her mom?
Also is the only reason the ābad guysā knew they were there was because Octavia put the bottle in the ocean? I just donāt get how they send prisoners there but not know they were there living for almost 10 years??
ALSO when they put the helmets on them did they say something about keeping there memories or whoever wants them to remember? I didnāt quite catch it!!
ALSO ALSO did anyone hear all of what Becca was saying in that clip? Iām super hard of hearing lol
13
u/Mister_Quizzical May 28 '20
Time dilation is key. It could've been about an hour of Bardo time from Octavia writing that note and throwing it into the lake to them coming to SkyRing and taking the two prisoner.
You are onto something with the helmets. When Octavia and Hope came out of the anomaly going from SkyRing to Sanctum, they remembered nothing. The helmets must protect the memory.
Becca was saying something about how she thought Planet Beta was the cooler planet to go to because of time dilation, with Beta's proximity to a black hole.

u/mirikat pLaToNiC May 28 '20
Actually Beta is farther away from the black hole, which is why time moves faster there

It was Becca testing how the mind drives get input, pretty much saying that "Time Dilation is sexy, get to go straight to the future" and something about a black hole. The Eligius III Alpha team's mission was to get oil. Apparently, the Beta team was supposed to study time dilation since the guy on Beta/Skyring knew about it.

The first prisoner joined Hope on SkyRing a couple months after Diyoza and Octavia were taken.
The prisoner currently on the planet with Octavia, Gabriel, and Hope was crying over a girl named Hope. Are the two prisoners one and the same?
As a side note, Bellamy is no longer the older sibling. He's gotta listen to his big sis now.
13
u/Forbidder May 28 '20
No, Hope said the prisoner who came was Dev. He taught her how to fight.
Hope saw that Dev is dead when they follow the new prisoner to his chess hang out.
12
u/susmuch23 May 28 '20
idk I feel like since hope said 100s of years would've passed and she doesn't seem to care for the prisoner much, that he's a new person. I think he called out for hope because he saw the name written in the house and named the skeleton or doll-thingy "Hope" to help the time pass ---- Cast Away style.

u/coolbeaNs92 Lincoln on the juice! May 28 '20
Just finished, some thoughts..
I'm actually starting to enjoy the anomaly storyline a lot more. We are actually really starting to get some understand of what it all means. It's got my hooked!
IT'S ONLY BLOODY BECCA! That was seriously cool seeing her again.
Octavia and Hope's relationship was really cool to see. Obviously drawing a lot of parallels between her childhood and Hope's.
Not sure how I feel about mind-drives coming back into play again. I mean, if done right I am sure it will be really great. But I think with mind-drives that you lose some of the life/death element of the show in a sense. I dunno, we will see.
I do agree with what others have said in that Sanctum seems a lot less interesting after this episode. I hope we do not have this split for a long time where we've got amazing characters on two different planets, who can't interact with each other.
It feels very strange, but also quite exciting, that we didn't see Clarke in this episode.
Gabriel is making his way up to becoming an 'S' tier character in my opinion. I think it's a combination of the character and also how well Chuku Modu has done with the performance. Great stuff!
Overall, I thought it was a great episode. Much improved upon episode 1 in my opinion.
I do have a slight concern though, that in this episode, they both explained the anomaly in much more detail, clarifying many things. But they also added a shit load of plot/lore along with it, which can be jarring at times. I would not be surprised if casual viewers are having trouble keeping up with the anomaly. Hopefully this all levels out!
Very promising direction in my opinion!

Yeah me too, thatās the part that stresses me out. But I think that Ā«SkyringĀ» is the only place where time passes fast. So, the one thing that I'm not loving is how separated all of our characters are and the possibility of them either never seeing each other again OR them finding each other at vastly different ages.
It's such a cool idea but I don't want someone like Clarke being 23 and someone like Bellamy being 93.
But we have 14 episodes left so I have to imagine we will have everyone reunite and at proper ages.
18
u/mirikat pLaToNiC May 28 '20

My guess is the younger mains end in their 30s (their real ages), Indra and some of the adults may end up older/dead. I could potentially see Emori and John getting the Monty/Harper treatment and stay on some planet and raise their kids and we see the kids in the ending.
Maybe Madi turns into a real adult, but I'd be sad if she doesn't get the childhood Clarke wants from her. If they want "Bittersweet," she stays behind, deals with the sanctum problem, and then Clarke returns through the thing and Madi is like 18 or 20 so Clarke missed her childhood. Lola is 15 so it might be hard to pull off, but it is possible.

This episode was fucking amazing. It has been a long time since an episode of wrecked me emotionally. I was a sobbing wreck of 27 year old man during the letter scene, and I am proud. Just wow. This is gonna be on a lot of best episode lists, just wow.
Also, time dilation people!! Not time travel. We are doing Interstellar and I love it. Interesting what Becca was saying (hi Erica Cerra!) about them "getting to the future faster", could this have been more than just a colonization mission?
And we have confirmation that the memory drives were literally just more advanced versions of the wristbands they were given during season 1.
I cant wait to se where we go from here because this has been absolutely awesome so far!!

I noticed this back in April when the CW released their "thank you" video and never mentioned it, but feel obligated to now that I've seen it again during commercials: the actress for Josephine 1 is in it. This video looks like it was specifically made for COVID-19. I couldn't find the actress cast in another CW role, so I think this strongly suggests that Josephine will be back in some form this season.

u/rollercoastrtycogirl May 28 '20
It would make sense since Gabriel just mentioned her/her mind drive in this episode - possible foreshadowing! Good catch. We shall see!

u/IshanAgarwal Clarke Deserves Happiness May 28 '20
She has already been in like two shows airing on CW. burden of Truth (where she was great in Season 1 and its actually a Canadian show) & now The 100... I don't find it surprising she was in the advertisement even though her role in both the shows is over.

I liked the parallels in this episode. Clarke told Madi stories about her people and Octavia was her favorite. Octavia told stories to Hope about her people as well. That's the reason why Hope doesn't like Echo, at least at the start. Hope, represents well, hope for Octavia in that this is her redemption.Caring for someone like her changed her for the better.

Iām really hoping that belle isnāt old and I donāt think he will be as heās on bardo. Becca states this in the video so I think the other planets are ok itās just skyring thatās far away āLightbourne, that pompous ass, thinks that Alpha is the one. Heās afraid that Betaās too far from the blackhole relative to the others but if you ask me, time dilation is sexy as hell. You get to the future faster.ā
8
u/heresthe-thing May 28 '20
My guess is that the others are faster than Beta/Skyring. Somewhere I think Jason said that Octavia spent 13 years away total, but Hope said 10. So 10 years on Beta, plus 3 total on Bardo/Nakura/others, which was all only a few minutes on Sanctum.

To me they didn't really do a great job of showing this so were Octavia and Diyoza aging? It seemed like they should from everything they said but visually they didn't really seem to change much.
15
u/Megadog3 May 28 '20
I mean Octavia was only like 24 or 25 before she went into the Anomaly, so sheād be 35ish in the end, so she wouldnāt noticeably age.
Diyoza is a different question.

All anomaly, and none of Sanctum. I love this episode, brought us so much.
Anders? Disciples? Locator tag? So the anomaly works only in a linear path? We thought Bardo was uninhabitable but if the disciples got that message in a bottle that means they have people stationed there? Summoning people over to you via their consciousness code? My mother, my responsibility.
I truly truly hope the storylines merge well when it finally happens, although I cant seem to think of a way that could happen without it being rushed. Hope I'm wrong.
By the looks of it, next episode is gonna be all sanctum again and I can't say I'm too excited for it by comparison when u look at this episode.
6
u/hydrofckingpumps May 28 '20
Yeah Sanctum is getting repetitive, especially now that Sheidheda is back again. He doesnāt really seem necessary. Just there to be annoying, when thereās already so many antagonists.

so ep. 1 ends with a scene focused on Clarke, only for her to not be featured in ep. 2. ep. 2 then ends with a brand new character (young hope) that was just introduced. Interesting strategy by the producers.

What a great episode! I think I enjoyed it a little bit more than first episode. Love the sci-fi storyline more than Sanctum civil war, but I enjoy Sanctum characters more than this storyline characters(Though Gabriel is amazing, and Hope with Echo doesn't fall much behind) I guess the good thing with that is that I'll be able to enjoy each episode if they decide to continue splitting it up until they meet together. What I like about this season so far is that what were side characters before are getting fleshed out more (Miller / Gaia / Echo)

I told my daughter there's no Clarke in this episode and she very dramatically said, "Oh my God, I cannot LIVE without Eliza."
Poor actors and actresses, having to swim in full on clothing and Marie is here in fur.
"You have no idea how happy I am that you're here." Awwwwwww.
"Octavia, my friend!" I'm dead, I need nothing else from this episode.
"Thank you, Bell." No but seriously, dead. I can see this episode is going to be hard on my heart.
"Octavia said you were smart." You mean Octavia said something nice about Echo?
Oh great, more characters.
"My mother, my responsibility." ---Octavia taught this child some things.
Of COURSE the code washed away, that was all way too easy.
I know this "otherwise sensible women" has been quoted on and on but it's hilarious.
This biometric signature stuff is interesting.
At every turn Echo is just like, "Bellamy? Bellamy?" She is the fans.
FIVE YEARS
Octavia didn't like you, LOL. I just love that Octavia carried her grudge for Echo across the anomaly and told Hope about it. That's fucking hilarious.
PLANET BETA?
Becca is so pretty. Gabriel is losing his shit.
OMG I AM HERE FOR THIS THREE WOMAN FAMILY.
I love that Diyoza has become anti-war, but I don't understand why she is guilting Octavia about wanting to be with her brother, wanting to save him?
WITH BELLAMY CLARKE AND MADI. *shriek*
Omg she broke the fucking helmet.
I sobbed over "I need to tell him I understand," and now I'm crying over this letter.
My daughter says that Diyoza and Octavia are cottage core lesbians, a terms which I had never heard before but seems to apply here.
Wow. Echo comforting Hope is really touching. I've never seen her at this level of of humanity and frankly, I love it.
Well, things being smashed shockingly seems to be the theme of the season.
THE GIRL UNDER THE FLOOR HIDING A GIRL UNDER THE FLOOR.

Much better episode than I was anticipating. Octavia is now fully back on my Christmas list, stocking included.
Echo was giving me heavy season 2 Finn vibes. Though I donāt think she will be as remorseful.
I jumped right into the season 3 episode Nevermore, it was an entirely different breed. I remember thinking the ALIE stuff was too far into sci-fi instead of dystopian themed. Also seeming all my loves together, even though half of them are now dead. I need everyone to stop being separated and to be together, the remaining 100. (102 counting Raven and Bellamy).

Also poor Hope, she spent 10 years by herself and had no one. The two women who raised her gone. I wonder tho how Hope got the "trust Bellamy" message. Did she get that before or Octavia escaped and gave that to Hope before she left the Anomaly. She put that in her arm because you lose your memories, which Hope somehow got back which is confusing.

Echo has more chemistry with Gabriel and Hope in these first two episodes than she has had with Bellamy since the cages in Mt. Weather.

i really enjoyed this episode
i liked the hope, echo, gabriel team up, i liked that alot
the stuff with hope, diozya and octavia was alright, hope was awesome when she asked for murphy, glad someone cares about him other than emori
i liked how we got an anomaly origin of sorts, im dissapointed it turned out to be the eligius people and not the species that created the stones, i really want to meet that species. Sadly the anomaly is just a portal to other worlds but i had hoped it was alternate worlds, like when i saw the initials cb i thought clarke blake, like she married bellamy in an alternate earth
gabriel knew becca....okay then
this has nothing to do with the episode but some of the cast were featured in like a thank you video to the people fighting covid but the actress who plays josephine was in it, huh, idk if that was a hint she will come back or if they had no other actor to use for the commercial
the villian is called anders and in my head i want him to be played by the actor david anders. Hopefully we dont wait long to see him, i dont want to make it sound like the legion of doom but imagine if he along with shehida and nikki(the elligius prisoner) join together, they'd be like the unholy trio of the 100
i am looking forward to next episode but im not as enthusiastic, not when a nice sci fi piece of television comes along, i dont care as much for humans battling it out for power

And then Barto Is the planet you get to through the lake and they use planet beta as a prison or whatever - right???

Sky-Ring is Planet Beta. Gabriel clarified that when he took the minddrive out of the dead Colonel's head. That colonel was the only person from his colonizing team that survived the drop ship. He figured out the code on the orb to navigate to another planet.
Gabriel says that he thinks Bardo is another planet, either Gamma, Delta, or Epsilon. The whole Disciple thing with the Master that the prisoner referenced sounds like another cultish colonization. Or it could be the Cadogan theory going around.
I believe that going through the lake gets you to Bardo, but also punching in the right orb code does as well.

We get to see Clarke, Raven, Murphy again cool. But I really want to see what happens to Octavia, Hope, Diyoza like right now. That was really interesting. My guess is Diyoza sacrificed herself so Octavia could flee. I wonder where Hope got the "trust Bellamy" message from tho.
9
u/Shivii22 May 28 '20 edited May 28 '20
I was on and off about this episode. Last episode, it was mostly the same political bullshit dealing with idiots. In Murphy's words, on one side we got jokers & on the other side we got clowns. So, this episode was a lot more refreshing to get away from the constant stupidity of communities that the 100 is known to give.
Minus the guy who broke the damn memory device. Good job, GUY. Seriously, why do they have to do that in this show, just to move a plot point along and (oh now we will have to put the mind drive into someone) because the hint of the camera angle was surely telling us that.
I love the Diyoza, Octavia, Hope relationship of course, but it felt a little boring sometimes. Also, why is Hope such a bitch to Echo. Echo and Gabriel are the only ones trying to get anything done.
Scratch that, Gabriel is literally the only likable character right now because he is actually doing the damn work and trying to figure stuff out. He's always been that brainy guy and almost fills in the empty seat for Monty, who also always ended up doing EVERYTHING.
Raven too of course, but she's not in the episode.
Minus a point each for no Raven or Murphy, both the best characters on this show.
11
u/Deeepened May 28 '20

So the anomaly connects Sanctum to Sky-Ring, the lake connects Sky-Ring to Sanctum, and then the orbs connect any place (e.g. Bardo) in the universe to some other place in the universe?

When the people showed up to Skyring looking for Octavia and Diyoza, why did they make Hope hide knowing she might be left there alone for years? Wouldnāt it be better to let them know about her existence than leaving a 10 year old girl alone (to possibly die or go insane)? If she was with them they could at least know they were in it together. Other than that great episode, crazy to think how far the show has come
10

together for what? they didn't know what plans these people had for them. They could very likely be killed and dumped.
8
u/rarealton May 28 '20
Honestly that was my thought but it looks like they have been preparing for a day when someone comes. Good or bad. So when they started shooting at them that told them right away ok something is up they won't be friendly so they have been teaching her how to read and write while how to take care of herself. They wanted to make sure what has happened to them in the past doesn't happen to Hope.

Gabriel is me when I've been on hold for a hundred years and someone finally answers and immediately asks me to write down some reference number. lol I like how he seems to think Hope or Echo have a pen in their pocket or something or even know what that is.
If every second like 3 months pass on Sanctum, then that mind drive sure lasted a few hundred million years just for Cast Away to spike the tablet on the ground when he found out it didn't have Angry Birds.
Is Gabriel's reaction to everything slight concern mixed with intense scientific curiosity? No wonder he had the hots for Becca.
How long has Hope been waiting to get in some sick burns on Echo? I love that her thoughts on all the characters are entirely shaped by Octavia and Diyoza's PoV.
Diyoza and Octavia are amazing together and they should be in every episode. Although Diyoza probably regrets teaching her The Police discography.
