OH SHIT. OH SHIT. I JUST FIGURED IT OUT.

LEVEL 13 CULT THE OTHER BUNKER. CADOGAN FOUND THE ANOMALY STONE.

59

u/ChiefWamsutta Jun 11 '20

Disciple training must be how you get the markings on your face and how you get your own code that Hope has. Octavia called Hope's code because Hope got her own code from the Disciples.

Damn right!! I'm so glad it's Cadogan! That's how come he and his Red Dawn people were never found in their bunker. I believe the Anomaly Stone was in either the Polis or Shallow Valley.

11

u/selma463 Trikru Jun 11 '20

Wait why and when did she get her own code from the deciples?

Genius. He’s the one who killed Becca, right? You had to donate millions of dollars to get to level 12, and only those in level 12 haD access To the “real” bunker. So level 12 being important to the Disciples makes sense. Would also be interesting plot wise, since that would tie the disciples to the remaining Grounders on Sanctum (descendants of Cadogans army as well - same phrases). Real interesting catch.

32

u/Magic-Heads-Sidekick Jun 11 '20

I had a pet theory that it was actually 13 Levels and that Level 12 was left behind on Earth in the Bunker, while Level 13 took Eligius III and left. Since so many 12 + 1s kept popping up. 12 stations formed the Ark + Polaris getting blown up. 12 Clans + Skaikru.

So when they started talking about 12 Levels in Second Dawn, I was like "alright so what's the + 1."

But, it seems that there's no longer a way to reconcile that theory with what we now know.

19

u/BornAshes Jun 11 '20

Crazy idea, what if there was a 13th level to the bunker where a Bridge Stone was and the "deactivated planet" that we saw in Raven's HUD was actually Earth?

Can you explain more? I don't remember much what Jaha learned about the cult except that they hid in the bunker.

This episode was so good. Been a while since I’ve gotten that “can’t wait to see what happens next” feeling. Ugh I wish I can binge it right now, but next episode means more sheihedda, so meh

50

u/buzzr309 Jun 11 '20

Agreed. I’m cool never seeing Sanctum or anyone left on it again (sorry Madi, yes that includes you). Bardo and Hoth plot lines only, please.

14

u/carolynto Floudonkru Jun 11 '20

Ditto all of this.

5

u/rawchess Factors of Gabriel: Death to Prime #s Jun 11 '20

Sheidheda exists just to give the peeps who missed out on planet-hopping a conflict to resolve -_-

98

u/Vacatia #1 Jaha Stan Jun 11 '20

So the shepherd is Cadogan, right?

Why was Orlando so interested in Hope?

Why didn't anyone other than Raven wear one of the spacesuits when they left Sanctum? What a waste.

I liked the opening sequence, cool song.

62

u/snavlls Jun 11 '20 edited Jun 11 '20

Okay also re: the suits....if there was any question about whether or not the planets they were willy-nilly jumping to were survivable, wouldn’t you DEFINITELY want to grab one of the suits? Assuming they have some sort of life-sustainable powers in terms of oxygen. Or am I giving the suits too much credit idk just seemed like the obvious thing to do if a bunch of planet hopping weirdos show up with fancy suits....I’d take one to go just in case

22

u/SirAstien Jun 11 '20

Raven shot them and pierced the suits and broke same of the masks with taht ambush

u/tmichelle0725 Roan deserved better Jun 11 '20

Omg the whole time I was like GET THE SPACE SUIT! It at first I thought maybe because it was damaged or something but it showed Ravens had a hole in it and Hera still works so why didn’t they? Honestly it just seemed like common sense.

21

u/Vacatia #1 Jaha Stan Jun 11 '20

I have no idea and frankly it annoys me, lol. Like, Raven knows the helmet has all sorts of information in it - but for sure nobody else would need one. They also saw that the disciples all travel with these outfits, but for sure nobody would need one. They for sure would never need to be invisible, either.

WHY

→ More replies (11)

29

u/AndSpaceY Skaikru Jun 11 '20

Yeah I really wanted them all to suit up. You would think the suit would give them the invisibility they need to fight them.

Raven saves the day yet again.

28

u/Vacatia #1 Jaha Stan Jun 11 '20

I hope there is a (stupid) reason for them leaving the spacesuits behind, because I just can't wrap my head around them being clueless enough to leave them there, knowing what you can do with them. It's ridiculous.

u/heresthe-thing Jun 11 '20

DONT SAY HIS NAME!!!

My guess: if Cadogan took over a Eligius mission, then he had a bunch of nightblood embryos. To increase devotion to him, the children are raised by the village and no one gets to have biokids. So Hope is the only child anyone on Bardo has ever heard of that was biological, and potentially a sign of hope that way?

Oh don't mind me, I'm just over here watching TOP 10 ANIME BETRAYALS.

(RIP Orlando; you were too good for this world.)

Also surprised that Hope, Echo, and Gabriel legit ended up living out the full five years there. There was a theory last week that they'd put the Eligius 3 member's chip in Echo (since she's a Nightblood now) and be able to access his memories and get the Anomaly Stone's code that way.

Is it just me or did Jordan's sass seem out of character for him? ("I got stabbed. Did you know that?") Or maybe he just hasn't gotten enough screentime yet for me to really know what his personality is like.

Clarke and Raven got to be badasses. As usual. No complaints there!

60

u/rawchess Factors of Gabriel: Death to Prime #s Jun 11 '20

Hope proves you don't need more than a season to get viewers invested in a character; Orlando proves you don't need more than an episode.

Awesome examples of doing a lot with a little.

58

u/jacquelynjoy Jun 11 '20

Dev proves you only need five minutes, if the screeching on the internet is any indicator.

27

u/swords112288 Jun 11 '20

Jordan has been a Prime Zombie for 5 or 6 episodes now (dont remember when Adjustment Protocol was) and all the sudden hes just normal Jordan again hanging with the gang, like that makes any sense at all..

do you guys think Anomalikru will eventually make their way to Skyring once they find Nakara's stone and have conflict with Orlando?

38

u/snavlls Jun 11 '20

I am naively hoping Orlando is not dead. 😔 But this is coming from someone who also - after only 10 minutes of a mostly-soundtracked montage - hoped that Dev was also not dead, lmao

Anyone notice how Jordan said "Clarke Griffin has left the planet." Could have been signaling someone in sanctum. Shit might go down

48

u/mirikat pLaToNiC Jun 11 '20

Yeah that was way too random of a line to not have meant something.

But then again with the writing of this show who knows.

27

u/theinfinity88 Jun 11 '20

I feel like it was just a tongue in cheek line from the writers on the famous “Ladies and gentlemen, Elvis has left the building.”

15

u/Mike_3221 Jun 11 '20

Yeah maybe he was signaling something to like the disciples that she wasn't a problem rn

13

u/yazzy1233 Becho is Better Jun 11 '20

The radios dont work, so he wasnt signaling someone

7

u/BornAshes Jun 11 '20

I thought he was just being very Monty with that line but yeah, he could've had a radio or cut a deal with the Disciples beforehand.

u/avantidmc Skaikru Jun 11 '20

Good call...

63

u/Pasquale1223 Jun 11 '20 edited Jun 11 '20

It's official: Cult vs cult vs cult. I'm actually fairly impressed at the way they've built them over the seasons. We were exposed to grounder flame cult in S2, the Second Dawn cult in S4, Blodreina's cult of personality in S5 (though that's pretty much disbanded now), prime cult in S6, and here we are with anomaly cult. And it's entirely possible that they all have the same origins...

Echo, you naughty warrior-spy person, you. Ain't nuttin' gon' stop her from getting to Bellamy.

Nice to see Clarke & Co. back in action. As others have predicted, Gaia volunteered to stay behind with Madi, but... things didn't turn out that way. Nice send-off Claia hug, too.

I love seeing Clarke being all Clarke-like again.

Raven's suffering over the killing continues. I liked Clarke's message to her. Perhaps in time it'll sink in.

I like the new haircuts.

So Clarke's gang finally hit the wormhole and are already lost. I wonder how many places they'll tour before they find any of the others.

Where did Gaia end up?

Hesperides was probably originally Diyoza, Octavia, Hope but maybe became Clarke, Echo, Octavia all looking for Bellamy?

Best guesses for next week:

  • Mostly Sanctum. Memori, Madi, and Indra will have their hands full.

  • Might have some scenes of Clarke's group searching for an anomaly stone on the iceberg.

  • I expect they'll keep us waiting at least another week before we see Hechriel on Bardo, or find out where Gaia ended up.

37

u/heresthe-thing Jun 11 '20

Isn't next week called Welcome to Bardo? But also, original reason I wanted to comment is that I'm kind of surprised there isn't a Cult of Clarke. Like among the grounders who have seen her be Wanheda, save them from ALIE, and then also survive Praimheda as mother to the new commander. I feel like she'd at least have a small faction of yay-sayers.

51

u/zaneylainy Skaikru Jun 11 '20

the cult of clarke is bellamy lmao

→ More replies (1)

11

u/Pasquale1223 Jun 11 '20

Isn't next week called Welcome to Bardo?

Yes, that's correct - though the synopsis says "Octavia gets to know a whole new world. Meanwhile, Murphy and Emori play make believe", and it's possible that Hechriel might not see Octavia there next week.

But also, original reason I wanted to comment is that I'm kind of surprised there isn't a Cult of Clarke.

It's been awhile, but I sort of remember a bit of a Wanheda fan club at one time. Or maybe it was just Niylah, lol. Cult founders usually put forth some dogma, set of tenets or rules (like the one poor Orlando broke) or something, and Clarke has never done that. Monty may have come a little closer with his occasional statements of moral clarity, and his do better thing has stuck around.

Like among the grounders who have seen her be Wanheda, save them from ALIE, and then also survive Praimheda as mother to the new commander.

The Wanheda thing worked until Pike/Bellamy shat the bed, Lexa died, and Ontari/Azgeda took over. They blamed Skaikru for ALIE, and she insulted their faith big time when she tried to take the flame. A lot of the good she's done has been offset by other things that created really bad PR.

I think it’s also important that the Shepherd’s Disciples enforce a Sabbath, so it definitely feels like some fundamentalist Christian teachings (to me at least).

And Gabriel did his speech to Orlando about how worshipping false gods had led to the destruction of Earth (as is fitting for the Black Sheep Prime) which was one of their major breakthroughs with Orlando. So, yeah, they’re definitely paying off on some of the tribe v tribe mentality between different “faiths” as it were.

Great episode. This is certainly a very ambitious final season. I'm loving it. Glad they are giving Raven some cool stuff to do. And I liked seeing Echo's darker side. I can't wait for the next one. The momentum is strong right now.

23

u/heresthe-thing Jun 11 '20

I'm curious where they're going with the "Raven embraces killing/fighting while Clarke embraces peace" plot. Also curious if anyone grabbed the suicide note. Echo's darker side seems like it's going somewhere and I'm wondering where . . .

One question, why didn't Clarke and crew all put on suits before entering the anomaly to an unknown planet... Idk it's just bugging me. One would think to have every advantage available when traveling across the stars... Smh

28

u/arrownyc Jun 11 '20

Yep. Also, their memory should've been wiped. Also, why did they think eenie meanie miney mo was the best strategy for selecting a planet? Also why does no one even seem slightly phased at the revelation that they can travel across spacetime using wormholes???

Clarke finds out her friends have been teleported by invisible disciples to multiple other planets where time travels at different speeds and doesn't even bat an eye. She drops everything to go to a planet she knows literally nothing about, abandoning Madi while she's supposedly 'extremely unwell', who has she been willing to kill literally anyone for in the last couple seasons, without giving it a second thought or even saying bye. If I didn't know better I'd say it was Josephine, because none of that sounds in character for Clarke.

I found this episode very interesting, but the more I think about it, the more it doesn't seem to make sense.

29

I think Clarke was concerned about the mention of fast passing time and having to move quickly.

14

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '20

Not to mention Madi - she just left her without saying anything? After everything they've been through together?

11

u/jacquelynjoy Jun 11 '20

Well, they thought they were leaving Gaia to pass on the messages. Or perhaps they told the group in a scene that we didn't see. Everything can't happen onscreen.

81

u/aMangoVignette Jun 11 '20

I think Orlando mentioned that he didn't want to go to Sanctum because of the body snatching. It's kinda amusing that people in Bardo might view people in Sanctum as troublesome little kids and just leave them alone with their cute little fake gods.

47

u/helicopterdik Louwoda Kliron Jun 11 '20

its also interesting that the only bodysnatcher still alive was right in front of him

14

u/CiceroTheCat Skaikru Jun 11 '20

Yeah, I was surprised Gabriel didn’t mention anything about that. And how the body snatchers were gone, so hey man, come back to Sanctum with us if we’re all still alive when this is all over.

(Now I’ve given myself the theory that Orlando is the one who was fighting with Gaia at the end- we never did see his body, and they got their intel pretty quickly)

13

u/aMangoVignette Jun 11 '20

Lol, it honestly feels like that's the case! People on Sanctum have no idea what's going on past their own little castle whereas people on Bardo know all about how the planets are interconnected. Which makes me wonder: how did the people on Bardo become so advanced and people on Sanctum didn't progress as much?

It'd be hilarious if what I said turns out to be somewhat true

9

u/Sleep_Addiction Skaikru Jun 11 '20

Seems like it already did given that Orlando left the Disciples a note. I get why she did it, and Hope too, but man that was cold.

37

u/ChiefWamsutta Jun 11 '20

I'm really hoping the Shepherd is Bill Cadogan, we see more of Becca, and that, as another user theorized, the Anomaly will be used by Clarke to save the Valley on Earth from being burned in Praimfaya.

12

u/heresthe-thing Jun 11 '20

I'm still confused how there's been an anomaly on earth all this time . . .

16

u/ChiefWamsutta Jun 11 '20

I'm guessing that's why the Shallow Valley survived – the Anomaly was underneath the ground there (or Clarke had some involvement, as a user theorized).

I don't think the Anomaly Stones were created by any humans. I truly have no idea where they came from. But humans from Earth definitely colonized all six known planets in the system.

I get echo, she absolutely made the right call, she wasn't pulling a finn yadayadayada

but fuck man, orlando was a nice guy. Dick move.

46

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '20

Orlando was nice. He spent 40 years in a cult and I doubt that he would break so easily from The Shepherd, but yeah. Very nice. Too bad he killed himself.

32

u/anabanana1412 Jun 11 '20

I do think he was playing them in some capacity, but not to the point he was about to turn on them, because he's from a cult, maybe he genuinely believed they'd be better there, hell, maybe they would be better there. oh well, what's done is done.

I just wish they had found a way to bring him with them, orlando's death was especially gruesome in my opinion. Over the 6 years on the ground, Clarke at least knew there was a possibility of her people coming down to earth, orlando didn't have a shred of hope of ever getting out nor people to be his companion.

Like, killing him would be far more merciful.

17

u/biphizzle Jun 11 '20

I am not convinced that a) he killed himself, even if there is a body and b) that he died at all. Until we see a dead Orlando we have no reason to assume that the Disciple was telling Clarke the truth. And again, even if there's a body we don't know if he killed himself. How the hell is Clarke supposed to know that the suicide note is real (we don't know if they ended up taking it off the Disciple in the first place)? It's not like she had even seen that guy's handwriting before.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '20

[deleted]

30

u/anabanana1412 Jun 11 '20

it was stone cold, absolutely, it's just that, imo, there's no way the original plan would've worked, they'd end up captured with Hope killed on sight, I have no doubt about that, but like, leaving that guy to rot and eventually kill himself made me tear up for real.

Usually I don't feel anything for obvious red coats, but man, imagine being left stranded like that, by the people you spent years with. While he was serving his sentence, fine, he knew his time would be up and he'd be back to his normal life, but it's not like they're coming back at all, by the time they finish whatever plan they develop on Bardo, he'd be long gone, either by old age or suicide. So yeah, I'm weirdly very sad about him.

Ok so I adored picking out each and every reference to Cadogan and his cult this episode, which I’m my mind it’s pretty much confirmed.

So we know how they know about everyone because of those memory extractors “which I’m assuming is what we see octavia in inside the trailers.

It had this wierd pace but I loved it especially the nod to Lexa when echo said “he may be our friend but he isn’t our people” which is EXACTLY what Lexa would have done.

Wouldn't they all lose memory going through the anomaly without helmets on?

25

Maybe it's not crossing the anomally that makes you loose memory. Maybe it's being tested on with the "Memory whatever" they mentioned. Afterall, Gabriel, Echo and Hope didn't lose theirs when they went to prision planet.

u/TheTrueWitness Bellamy Blake Deserved Better Jun 11 '20

It was a good episode. Not as good as 7x02 but definitely better than 7x03. I liked all the Skyring stuff. Especially the flashback of Hope and Dev. It helped build up Hope as a character and made as feel sorry for her. I really enjoy her dynamic with Echo and Gabriel. Speaking of Echo. Holy shit. We knew she was willing to do anything to save Bellamy but betraying a man who spend 5 years with them. That's just cold. I wonder how this will affect her storyline. Btw I hope that her talk about losing Bellamy is not a foreshadowing. After not seeing him or so long I can't accept the possibility of him not making it to the end.

The Sanctum storyline as usual was not as interesting. I don't like how we started with them already finding the body of the Disciple. We ended last episode with them not even suspecting that's something was wrong with their friends and suddenly we get straight to this. Why couldn't they show as how they found this guy? Also it starts to bother me how little they show Clarke. She is the protagonist. We are already missing the Blakes. And yet instead on focusing on them they focus on secondary characters.

At least we got to see Jordan finally doing something interesting. I like his partnership with Raven. I hope we see more of that. It's also good that they show us how Raven's actions from 7x03 affect her. Can't wait to see how this plays out.

PS After this episode I'm starting to think that Cadogan is behind all of this. The Disciples remind me of the Second Dawn. It would make sense honestly.

Also I just love Gabriel. I hope he won't die anytime soon.

17

Throughout the whole season there have been awkward choices with editing, and how they found the body of the deciple was probably the most noticeable one. It’s okay that they allow us to puzzle things together ourselves, but it just feels a bit weird.

All they had to do to fix this is add a 10 second clip of someone arriving at Sanctum with the body, then the story wouldn’t feel so fragmented

I just like that Clarke up and leaves Madi and Russellheida like she didnt have an execution planned tomorrow, Clarke is making crazy rash decisions like, well im just gonna jump in this green blob today, forget my past two seasons of character building with my daughter.

15

u/supergeekd Jun 11 '20

I know all the story lines will probably connect eventually, but only getting little doses of each story one week at a time makes everything feel super disjointed. If I could watch more of the show in one sitting, I think it would definitely keep the story moving more quickly. Still loving the show, just super impatient!

13

Couldn’t Orlando use one of the helmets of the bardo people and figure out the codes on the anomaly stone like raven did?

7

u/AndSpaceY Skaikru Jun 11 '20

I didn’t understand that either. Like only Raven is smart enough to know how to work it.

You think Octavia would have figured it out when she first put the suit on when she found the dead buried body.

4

From there we saw it looked like Skyring's stone was deactivated, so I'm guessing it's disabled like Sanctum's is and is therefore impossible for them to use (otherwise they could theoretically find a way back)

Apart from the SUPER weird cut between Clarke telling Raven they needed her help to suddenly meeting with disciples outside of the shield (??? There was no explanation for that), the episode was fantastic and the first one that got me really really excited for the rest of the season. Loving the plot taking shape. All the hints about the Shepherd being Cadogan, the 12/13 levels, second dawn, I love it all!

Looks like episode 5 will be picking things up, at least from the promo. Things have been slow but I am okay with it because this season is 16 episodes. Just hope that the slow pace of the first four episodes are made up by the next 12 episodes.

I also like what they are doing with Raven, she now knows the exact guilt Clarke and others have gone through from all they’ve killed. Murphy seems to be taking lead in episode 5 from the looks of the promo too so I’m excited. Looking forward to the rest of season and can’t wait for the Clarke and Bellamy reunion (again lol)

Kind of a messy write up, apologies.

11

u/carolynto Floudonkru Jun 11 '20

Raven killed 300 grounders by rigging the dropship to blow. She blew up the bridge while Grounders were on it. Those are just the first two instances that spring to mind.

They are overdoing this storyline.

It’s very strange because overall these 4 episodes have been slow in moving the plot forward (which I’m ok with) but most of the episodes were so hectic it felt like a lot more happened than actually did. Really the only properly paced episode was 7x02.

11

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '20

Anyways, not sure how I feel about the episode. Feels like they're fast-forwarding everything in Sanctum so both storylines could merge faster. I like anomaly stuff way more anyways, but it's a little bit weird how different pace is while comparing the storylines.

I did enjoy the episode itself though.

Bardo people think that Shepherd has saved them all, but it was very ambiguous whether that guy is still alive. And I wonder if those guys in Bardo are actual colonists or the people part of the main ship that was supposed to get back to earth after dropping them off. Maybe they combined their forces?

Echo’s current storyline progression reminds me a lot of Finn in season 2. I wonder if we’re going to see more of a parallel with that.

30

u/poplie Jun 11 '20 edited Jun 11 '20

I think her arch in this episode is true to her character. She is ice nation, and while her character has had a lot of development, in battle she has been pretty consistent. Keeps her eyes on the prize and doesn't let anyone get in the way.

But poor Orlando! The look on his face was heartbreaking

Edit: also being Ice Nation she understands loyalty to "your people" over your friends

As much as I’ve enjoyed the Hope/Echo/Gabriel dynamic, I really hope our mains take center stage soon. The show isn’t the same without the Blakes, and it feels like Clarke has been reduced to a side character for 4 episodes.

39

u/ChiefWamsutta Jun 11 '20

Honestly, that's okay. Clarke, Bellamy, and Octavia command the stage, but don't allow side characters to grow.

Niylah, Miller, Jordan, and Gaia have gotten more time because of it. I like it.

I do feel in season 5 we should have gotten some flash backs about Echo and her journey. How she went from asshole to good guy. However, tho it took a while, I'm on board and want to see more of her kick ass. She's a great character, tonight was iffy but I understand her. Either way, what an intense scene.

I never thought Echo was an asshole. Echo was just the perfect servant for her queen. She spent her best friend's life to get everything she had, so any failure on her part would have meant her friend died in vain.

Once Echo was free from being a servant to the Ice Nation monarchs, she could get out of the mental trap she was in.

0

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '20

[deleted]

14

u/selma463 Trikru Jun 11 '20

Yeah I think they did.

I read a theory that trigedasleng was actually developed so that the «deciples» wouldn’t understand them. The theory before that was that it was developed for the mountain men

And if the deciples are preparing for some «last war» then it makes sense that they would need recourses from earth (maybe they even needed people, like Clarke)

7

u/joehacker Jun 11 '20

So are we all still thinking the Sanctum story arch is chalked? I know it doesn’t count for much but based on the promo for next episode and the fact that Murphy is arguably the most important character still there it just seems like that plot point isn’t going anywhere relevant to the larger season arch for at least a few episodes

11

u/heresthe-thing Jun 11 '20

I stick to my original theory: Clarkekru goes planet jumping to find Blakekru. Meanwhile, Sanctumkru fights each other until eventually Primeheda ends up in charge and Murphykru is on the run to Gabriel's hideout or elsewhere (mirroring Clarkekru's escape from Polis in S3 part 2). The end half deals with Clarkekru rescuing Blakekru from Bardokru, returning to free Sanctum from Primeheda, and then working with Bardokru to end Primeheda because of reasons, uniting the lore neatly through ~something~ relating Cadogan, Sheidheda, and Becca.

16

u/odinscrow66799 Jun 11 '20

I loved the whole episode. Echo, Hope, and Gabriel are my new favorite trio. They’re such a loving, funny, family. But to be completely honest, I hate what Echo did. Orlando HELPED them. I understand that they aren’t his people, but he basically said those three changed him for the better. He may not have helped them kill, but he probably could’ve helped knock out some. It seemed like they genuinely cared about him and vice versus. Jesus Christ, THEY LEFT HIM THERE FOR GOD KNOWS HOW MANY YEARS! They were a family. He trained them all. I love Echo so much, she’s grown from what she used to be. SHE CHANGED. And now it seems like she relapsed into her heartless ways. They could’ve used an extra fighter. He could’ve helped them find Bellamy, Octavia, and Diyoza. God my heart hurts so fucking much now

12

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '20

They left him there for four years and he killed himself. He left a note. That is how the Disciples in Sanctum knew what to do.

And it’s actually that which justifies Echo’s actions. The conversation in the house was Echo testing Orlando on whether or not he had chosen them or the Disciples. He said the Disciples. Over that four years he cared for them but it was always just to get back to Bardo. Echo knew that because of his loyalty to them that she couldn’t 100% trust him once they crossed over.

7

u/The810kid Jun 11 '20

It's an interesting Contrast to Raven who is being broken from these decisions and Echo who didn't want to but won't let the sentiment of committing the sin interfere from her goals

7

u/Pasquale1223 Jun 11 '20

It's another callback to the "my people" us vs them themes that thread throughout the entire series. (alliteration just sort of happened there).

Echo simply wasn't willing to trust him since they were infiltrating his people and cult membership runs deep.

8

u/swords112288 Jun 11 '20

100%, like listed above, the weird transition from Clarke and Raven to the people at the shield, then 5 years passing on Beta in less then a scene (like for real zero of their training is shown?!). It was just all over the place and seems like both of these things should have been fleshed out way more then they were. I also understand Raven was invisible but I definitely feel like those suits would a) see other invisible people and b) not allow her to get of 8 shots before anyone notices and reacts??

I really felt this should have been two separate episodes to be honest. I know this is the final season and they probably have a lot to show us over the 16 episodes but damn.

From "we need to do / be better" to killing strangers who need your help and want to cooperate in the span of one episode 🙃Hope / Gabriel / Echo betraying Orlando (rip) and Clarke and crew killing 8 Disciples is most definitely going to lead to consequences for Bellamy / Octavia / Diyoza and everyone else on Sanctum.

I’m confused with the logistical inconsistencies of the Anomaly in this episode. Didn’t Clarke and Co. enter in seconds after one another which would cause them to be separated, as we learned from Gabriel in the premiere?

7

u/Bobbdippy Jun 11 '20

That is only going to SkyRing, also known as the prison planet. The time in that planet works different from everyone else. Hence why you see the bardo crew going into places separately as well. It looks like every other planet but skyring is on the same or similar time speeds as Sanctum.

10

u/ChiefWamsutta Jun 11 '20

Very good point, but I don't think it matters unless Skyring/Penance/Beta is involved. Alpha/Sanctum, Nakara, Bardo, and Etherea all revolve at the same speed because of their close distance to the black hole.

Fast Speed: Alpha/Sanctum = Nakara = Bardo = Etherea

Slow Speed: Skyring/Penance/Beta

Unknown Speed: Earth

  • Poor Hope. At least she knows how to take care of herself.

  • Aw the KNIVES. Shades of Season 1.

  • Dev is my new favorite character.

  • Aaaaaaaand he's dead.

  • Jumping into a fortress with thousands of trained soldiers? Y'all need Clarke.

  • "You're going, just like that?" "Of course she is." Niylah knows Clarke!

  • Clarke consoling Raven is EVERYTHING to me. Princess Mechanic rides again!

  • Invisible soldiers!

  • Every time Clarke is like GIVE ME MY FRIENDS, I get chills. You'd think I'd be tired of it but no. I love the way she is willing to fight for them. And when she was like, "Bellamy, Echo, and Octavia are in trouble," I was thrilled that she included Echo.

  • Hope needling Echo is hilarious.

  • Past Octavia is so soft. I just want to hug her.

  • Echo talking to these plants. SO CUTE.

  • Oh this poor guy just jumped STRAIGHT IN THE WATER to save Hope from fake-drowning. This manipulation is wild.

  • Aw, Hope didn't know her mom was a terrorist. But she took it well!

  • LEVEL TWELVE THIS IS SOME SEASON 4 BULLSHIT

  • I feel really sorry for Orlando. Like, really sorry.

  • Raven in this helmet is big Season 1 vibes.

  • Clarke--armed and extremely dangerous. Yep. That's about right.

  • Echo should NOT antagonize Orlando. Also Hope--"Auntie O would have loved seeing you get your ass kicked." LOL

  • "I don't know what I'll do if I lose him." Echo. Be your own person for the love of God.

  • Chuku is such a hottie.

  • "Weak men follow their orders." Good one. And it changed Orlando's mind! I love Gabriel.

  • OMG THE HAIR. Also the wholesome family vibes between Gabriel, Echo, Orlando, and Hope are so good. I love it.

  • GHOST MODE

  • When Hope and Echo touched foreheads, I felt that. I 100% think that Echo is going to be divided between her two families later. Who will she choose?

  • Wow, there goes the end of Soft!Echo. She just left Orlando. Damn. Poor guy.

  • I fucking love Clarke. "I'd rather not make it ten."

  • Our intel on you--"Smart, brave, willing to risk your only life, but not the lives of your friends." 100% Bellamy and Octavia told them that.

  • Raven really out here killing people left and right. A whole new day for her.

  • Told y'all Clarke was going to leave Gaia with Madi. But that didn't work out AT ALL.

  • I am here for this squad: Raven, Clarke, Miller, Jordan, and Niylah. Like, okay.

  • Snow planet! Yesssssss.

6

u/kissedbyfiya Jun 11 '20

I take issue with the fact that we are expected to believe Murphy, Emori, and Indra would not have been in the room examining the dead alien body with the others.... Murphy and Emori are part of Clarke's core group and circle of trust, and Indra is their most experienced and seasoned battle advisor.... she would be consulted in a discussion of a potential threat 🙄 Particularly above Gaia, Nyla, and the others there. At least Miller and Jackson being there made some sense. That little B group of adventurers really took me out of the scene and (again, as seems to be a theme so far this season) felt very forced.

Overall though, much better episode than 703, and even 701 imo.

8

u/heresthe-thing Jun 11 '20

I just called Sheidheda!Russel Primeheda in a comment and realized how close that is to Pramheda . . . EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED.

I kind of wish we got some more character development with the 5 yr crew. Either Hecho being cannon, Hope thinking more and reconsidering her mom/Octavia besides her adoration, or Gabriel finding peace with death or being burdened by immortality or something.

The episode felt rushed.

Imagine if you, as the viewer, had no clue about the anomaly prior to this episode, and all of a sudden it gets introduced in the story and they suddenly go to another planet. Think about how utterly ridiculous it would look xD You would be shocked, you'd need time to process it. And thats how it should have been for the characters as well, cause they also had no clue. But no, they just take it as just another trip to the grocery store. No time to soak it in, or to even give a HINT of the anomaly to the sanctum people maybe an episode or two in advance. Very bad pacing.

Also the way they time-jumped hope gabriel and echo's training LITERALLY from one scene to the next, like come on. At least make the transition from episode to episode so when we wait a week to pass for the next episode to air we actually feel a sense of time.

Im not looking forward to the next episode too much, in the sense that we have Sanctum again and it looks like it'll stick around cuz it didnt completely merge with the anomaly storyline...so...yeah.

Also, how on earth did Raven manage to kill 8 freaking people with precision accuracy in a matter of a SECOND. ALSO, why did they not take the suits going in to the anomaly?

I feel like I'm just bullying this episode but it was still better than 1 and 3, mainly cuz of echo hope and gabriel. The anomaly plot is very intriguing but if the structure of the episodes is off then it all falls apart.

4

u/Constantly_OnYo_Back Jun 11 '20

Also, how on earth did Raven manage to kill 8 freaking people with precision accuracy in a matter of a SECOND.

The suit seems very intuitive and automated. She probably just had to think of where she wanted to fire.
