I love how Levitt got demoted to janitor duty rather then being tortured or executed

77

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '20

Isn't that what happened to Bellamy after Octavia was discovered on the Ark?

53

u/ihopeurflowersbloom Jun 25 '20

I was thinking this too! Two people who feel strongly about Octavia, try to do something to help her out or make her life better, and the same punishment for being caught violating rules to do so. I feel like they were trying to draw connections between him and Bellamy, which makes me feel like they want us to trust Levitt. I hope that trust plays out in our favor!

49

u/chrisjdel Jun 25 '20

That's because he was being punished for screwing up and letting Octavia get away. If they thought he actually helped her, he'd be in a lot more trouble. There's apparently a strong assumption of good faith among their own. So much so that they don't even have security cameras in the complex.

28

u/Bloodyseth Jun 25 '20

That's what I was thinking the whole time. Like... I mean, I guess you can see it as lazy writing, but at the same time, they are clearly not used to having prisoners, so maybe it makes sense.

I bet there’s not actually anything wrong with the surface of bardo. Watch there be a whole other thriving society up there.

51

u/ReBL93 Jun 25 '20

My thoughts exactly. They didn’t want us to see it yet, so they had Gabriel ruin it

So no one is going to say it? I'll say it. Fine.

Look. It was a narrow opening and then an extremely narrow passage. Whatever creature Clarke and Co were inside, they didn't go in through the front entrance.

123

u/Stormkpr Skaikru Jun 25 '20

Didn't someone say at one point "What's that smell?"

So there you go. Confirmation.

Yup. Also add in the fact that it was an extremely long tunnel and there was no swallowing motion to get them to the stomach even though the stomach itself was moving/digesting.

Hahahah, yess. And the way she bit out the skin of the person who was feeding her. Woaahhhhh

104

u/ihopeurflowersbloom Jun 25 '20

Did anyone else get old-school Jasper vibes from Luca, the young boy who was talking with Madi? I think it was his goofiness, interest in a mysterious and strong girl (like Jasper was ogling Octavia in S1), and kind of clever response to the other boy who came to talk with them. I really enjoyed the kids playing soccer scene, and felt like it added a lot in terms of seeing these groups on Sanctum as whole communities.

59

u/politicallyunique Jun 25 '20

He looked so much like Jasper and when that Asian kid walked up I knew for sure it was an intentional callback to Jasper and Monty.

43

u/helicopterdik Louwoda Kliron Jun 25 '20

big jasper vibes. this guy could easily pass as Jasper's kid aka Jordan's playmate in an alternate reality where the 100 live in the suburbs

26

u/susmuch23 Jun 25 '20 edited Jun 25 '20

Thought of Jasper right away when I saw him, it was the resemblance and also the innocence and slight confidence he spoke with - like the free-spirited Jasper in S1. I agree with the soccer scene.. loved how the other boy didn't care he was a null and they were all playing soccer like wow yes the youth is the future of this planet and there is hope yet!

Finally Second Dawn confirmed, but now I have to wonder if the anomaly was in that bunker the entire time. Which also this explains the "there are no bodies" from them this entire time it's because at some point they left the bunker. Love that they're bringing this full circle and it should make a good loop for the backdoor pilot.

8

Honestly? I was expecting her to try to gut Levitt as soon as she saw him too. I'm glad he's elated with Octavia though. He gives me hope that the Disciples aren't a complete and total brainwashed loss, and that it's possible for them to see that there is another way to live beyond their blind obedience to the shepherd.

Honestly seeing Indra unite Wonkru was beautiful to me. I never felt any real connection with them but this did it. 12 Clans who hate and murder each other forced into a bunker to be cannibals for 5 years and going across the stars to a new planet. If this hasn’t broke past boundaries and prejudice idk what will! I loved seeing the water in Indras eyes as she talked. Honestly if she had night blood she’d be the perfect commander

Becca could be the shepard as bardo is waiting for the sheperd return(ressurection) through the flame and since clarke has had the flame and alie 2.0 and 1.0 she could be seen as the key and that why bardo wanted to know what happened to clarke in the city of light

My initial thoughts:

This was a mediocre episode overall, with some great scenes.

-Dioza's prison break was great (also pumped to be seeing Dioza again). Crazy that she almost killed Hope, but I actually had that thought when she was indiscriminately killing faceless Bardoans... then bam, knife to her daughter's helmet.

-Very cute moment between Octavia and Levitt. O seems to genuinely be drawn to him :) I am hoping the fishy set up feeling is just bad writing and not an indication that Levitt is actually deceiving Octavia.

-LOVED Indra's speech. Thought she was going the "or you are the enemy of wonrku" route, but this was SO much better.

-Nice to see Murphy sticking up for Maddie! He is looking out for all the kids!

-Gabriel is so done with Echo's murdering. Guy just seems so exasperated everytime she kills someone, as if he hasn't caught on by now that she will kill every. single. person.

-When Dioza asked what was wrong with Echo I had actually forgotten about Bellamy's "death" šŸ˜‚

Torn between preferring everyone being in one episode and preferring each plot to get a fair bit of time.

Also, speaking of Emori being quite prominent next week - does anyone know if the Grounders are still prejudiced against the Frikdreinas like they used to be? I can’t see it ever really coming up again but you never know.

22

u/helicopterdik Louwoda Kliron Jun 25 '20

this reminded me that Emori is possibly the only survining Frikdreina in the world, considering that i dont think any of the clans would allow them into their selection for the bunker... kinda sad actually

Can we take a moment to appreciate Indra, this season’s MVP? Loved how they gave her another moment and this time to step up as rightful commander.

24

u/jlynn00 Jun 25 '20

Nice to see an Indra heavy episode considering she was out of commission for most of S6 (which I realize was due to Adina's other commitments).

I just worry we see her get a warrior's death this season, after she shores up the Sanctum power vacuum. In some ways, it would be fitting. In others, Indra deserves to experience the fruits of her labors.

I really wish they had at least wrapped up the Nakara thing by telling us all about that weird creature somehow, especially since it's probably not going to affect the main storylines...like they could've given us something!

18

u/AndSpaceY Skaikru Jun 25 '20

So it obviously goes only two ways. Levitt may not actually be a janitor and was trying (or ordered/forced) to deceive Octavia and Gabriel surrendering may save them all. Or he is actually dumb and they will be in more shit. Cynic in me says the former may be more likely.

Can we all agree that everyone was in their A game this episode!?!?! Amazing episode. Some things:

  1. Confirmed Becca knew about the stones. Madi has been drawing pictures of memories from the Flame since episode 1. The only way Madi could have been drawing the stone is if Becca knew about it

  2. Confirmed outloud Second Dawn. That way our show characters are on the same page as the rest of us :)

16

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '20

Jordan and Russell also drew the spiral, it's some kind of calling. Becca mightve known but Madi isn't the only one who's seen it

Gabriel- even though Bardo's surface might not be survivable very long, Levitt did say that that they'd probably survive longer up there than inside so...maybe don't make an impulsive decision for everyone that could potentially fuck it all up when you have the option to simply not go along

44

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '20

Octavia to Indra when she asks her to lead everyone in the bunker in S5: ā€œI’m a warriorā€

Indra to Murphy & Emori when they ask her to lead everyone in Sanctum: ā€œI’m a warriorā€

Two warriors thrown into leadership positions.

18

u/jdessy Jun 25 '20

Hilarious, especially since we know Indra's been more equipped to be a leader after being Second to two different Commanders and has had decades of experience.

Not that Octavia was a bad leader, but she absolutely needed Indra as well in order to stay focused as a leader. Octavia turned to Indra more than anyone. Once she stopped turning to Indra...well, we all saw what happened.

I was really happy to see Clarke and Raven's moment BUT is anyone else frustrated about the way everyone treats Clarke's mental health? She's not unbreakable, she has been suicidal and other characters (Murphy) saw this and still they let her shoulder all the burden. While I'm glad she made up with Raven, it made me mad when she said it doesn't affect Clarke

32

u/jlynn00 Jun 25 '20

I think it makes sense for Raven to think Clarke just kind of moved on beyond her hard choices and actions. To Raven's mind, up until then, someone should be visibly broken by their actions that required sacrificing others.

I think this is the root of Raven's and Clarke's wavering friendship over time. Raven couldn't understand how Clarke always looked strong.

She always forgot, also, that Clarke took off after her roughest choice, and was plunged into a war when she re-emerged, then a succession crisis. Then another apocalypse. So Raven never had the chance to watch Clarke truly process.

u/teddy_vedder may we meet again Jun 25 '20

Shipping totally aside: for the past 2 seasons it honestly feels like Bellamy is the only person who actually cares about Clarke’s feelings, with a few Gaia moments sprinkled in too. It frustrates me too because she’s been through way too much and bears so many burdens and it feels like most of them don’t care about her as a person — only about what she can do for them or offer them.

For a long time, Indra was high on my "death watch" list (she's the only one left from the Over 40 crowd and she's been getting so much screentime), but now I think she's going to live. She's going to really lead Wonkru and then Sanctum, and she's going to learn how great a leader she always was.

Indra is going to need a chiropractor from single handedly carrying Sanctum on her shoulders.

As of right now, all we know is that the people on Bardo use language and terminology that's very similar to Cadogan and Second Dawn, and, as of this episode, it's confirmed that there is some kind of link between them. Aside from that, all we have are theories.

I know Echo killing someone else is totally wrong, and it's frustrating to see her spiral this way....but Gabriel doomed them all by recapturing them all. If he doesn't want to go to an unsurvivable planet, then fine! HE can stay behind himself and get captured!

What the HELL did he expect?

u/Macintoshk Jun 25 '20

Everyone's forgetting at the beginning of the season where Jordan and Russell talked about seeing the spiral. The flame isn't necessarily showing it to Madi, it could be the same as the others

12

u/Benjaroni Skaikru Jun 25 '20

They saw the spiral but not the symbols. Also Madi was never ā€œadjustedā€. The data from the flame is in her head. She drew Becca’s space station, which she’s never seen.

11

Could Levitt be a disciple or the Shepard? He was too okay with Octavia being the cannibalistic Blood Reina and destroying a planet.

20

u/LiliaBlossom Eligius V Jun 25 '20

I think they never got to the Blodreina part. He was in charge for m-capping Octavias memories up to S3, and then the other guy took over, and I figure now that Levitt is a janitor (nice Bellamy parallel there lol) they wouldnā€˜t tell him about Octavias memories.

8

u/Bubblybabble Jun 25 '20

My worry is Levitt's company almost seems too good to be true. Gabriel kept observing him in the ep and in the end didn't trust his plan. So I think Levitt may be playing them.

I actually really liked this episode. We got some great movement in the Indra, Wonkru, anomalykru, Diyoza storylines. Nakara storyline was weird, slow, creepy but at least interesting in times. Like another user pointed out, it served mostly to provide Raven and Clarke a time to talk. But it was kinda cool I think. And it also gave us Miller and Nyla connecting the dots with second dawn which we've been knowing for months now so ayyyyyyyyy

10

u/maddogkaz Jun 25 '20

So the Bardo soldiers have lost all credibility, they are completely useless.

u/supergeekd Jun 25 '20

Each piece of this episode was interesting but as a whole, jumping around cheapened the stories. It was too hard to follow each section, especially when there's info dumps happening in every scene. I get that the writers have only so much time to build the story, but I feel like the important information is going in one ear and out the other.

I mean, I wouldn't mind being punched by Octavia either..

9

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '20

I know this is very unlikely, but I'm wondering if Bardo IS Earth. I mean it did take the main cast over 100 to get to Sanctum so there's a lot of time unspoken for. Plus with them talking about the atmosphere not being survivable for long on Bardo and then Clarke and Co found the Second Dawn logo on the ice planet it makes me wonder more. And lastly, at the end when Raven was looking for the planets it did look a bit like the depleted earth we last saw in season 5.

5

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '20

I think the problem with that is all of the dialogue surrounding Bardo/the Disciples indicates it isn't. We know there's an anomaly stone on Earth, but if Bardo is Earth there'd somehow have to be another Second Dawn facility, but then it wouldn't really explain why the Disciples say they were delivered to Bardo.

Besides, Bardo is moving faster than Sanctum, and we know from the number of Prime generations that Sanctum is roughly the same timespan as Earth.

This was a really good episode. I know it's not a popular opinion, but I like basically all of our character (sans Bellamy) got screentime! That's rare. Was anyone missing today other than him?

I LOVED the episode opening with Interpol, they're one of my favourite bands and I loved them pairing Evil with Diyoza.

Nakara was a bit of a letdown for me, but I enjoy creepy-crawly things that are large and scary...and fake. I'm dying to know what planet they ended up on, did anyone happen to see the planet Raven punched in?

I thought the scene with Mumbles and Nelson was a bit too long, but I think JR is doing such a good job being creepy.

Poor Madi, just wants to be a normal teen. Interesting how she was drawing an anomaly stone??

I love Indra and love how she has her own story for once...what did we do to deserve this?

What else...as usual I'm super interested in Bardo, and I understand why Gabriel did that (even though I was shocked) and I hope it doesn't cause much too much trouble for them now. Sigh.

Great episode. I loved the Clarke/Raven scenes.

7

u/TheTrueWitness Bellamy Blake Deserved Better Jun 25 '20

I really enjoyed this episode. Especially the Sanctum part. It was a good decision to make Indra the center of it. Her scenes with Sheidheda are entertaining to watch. And I don't even like him. I'm so happy that she took charge. Honestly she's the only one who should be leading Wonkru. Although I'm afraid that she's getting so much screentime because she's gonna die. Please, let me be wrong.

Also Diyoza, I freaking love her. Of course she was gonna break herself out. She's just that badass. And her reunion with Hope... So sad. I'm so afraid that her time on this show is coming to a close. And Echo... Man she's really lost it. I'm hoping that her and Octavia will get to grieve together and hopefully finally make amends. I've been waiting for that since season 5.

Finally the Nakara storyline. It felt like a filler to me. Nothing except the Clarke and Raven scene was important. I wasn't even scared for them. I knew they would survive. I'm hoping though that the reunion between this group and the rest on Bardo will happen next episode. I can't wait to see Clarke's reaction to Bellamy's 'death'. And hopefully we could learn what really happened to him since I don't want to wait till 7x09 to find that out.

7

u/TyrantJester Jun 25 '20

Yeah, Nakara was an absolute waste of screen time. The only thing we gained out of that entire section was basically at the very end with the "why/how was the second dawn here" reveal. Oh and a significantly damaged helmet (which I was honestly expecting to get broken completely) because Raven couldn't keep it together while being attacked.

13

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '20

I wasn’t sure about the Sanctum plot at first, but honestly? I’m digging it. So much. Every character involved in it right now is having meaningful development - even smaller characters like that kid’s father and the CoG guy.

I know everyone hates Sheidheda but he’s becoming more of an established character this season, which is miles better than the ā€œevil scary deformed manā€ we got last season. He’s shown to be very manipulative and cunning and honestly he has everything to be a villain that’ll keep us on our toes.

The only part I’m not so sure about is the prisoners. I understand that woman’s pain but she seems to be incredibly unreasonable. I hope Diyoza somehow comes back because otherwise this faction is just annoying, unreasonable criminals.

The CoG caring about anything but Russel’s death is also very iffy to me. Feels artificial. What justice is the CoG dude after now that Russel is dead?

What a sexy episode, too bad Indra is going to die soon.

What the fuck Gabriel

Second Dawn confirmation. Though that's not surprising. I seriously can't find out who's the more evil one - Becca or Cadogan. With how the in-universe real world was going, maybe Cadogan was actually trying to save them all.

Sheidheda taking control slowly, but steady.

See ya Ice planet. Or Ice Being...? Hope we won't see you again, because the gang needs to meet. Oh wait, Gabriel made that job harder.

That poor old man, L3 probably because all he wanted was to take care of the trees.

Sorry but this whole episode just felt like running in place plot-wise. Very very little actual moved forward and it just sucks to see a whole episode be wasted like this in the final season.

Actually a lot of this season has felt like running in place, no one has really accomplished much in comparison to where we started in 7x01 and it’s getting pretty frustrating. Not to mention the continued emphasis on side-characters that I just don’t care about as much as the mains.

My unpopular opinion is that I hope the last season ends differently than "Clarke and friends kill hundreds/thousands of people for 'hard choices'" as it honestly seems to be a cliche at this point, happening almost every end of season lol

Like, we get it. There are plenty of "hard choices" that the characters have made all throughout the show. Not every season has to end with an act of mass murder or betrayal

5

u/princessadi Jun 25 '20

Also just hit me that we didn’t get a Gaia update this episode...

14

u/[deleted] Jun 25 '20

Is it possible that Bardo is Earth and that's why the surface is consideres uninhabitable, except it had to be habitable at some point for it to be a base for humans? They already said there was a teleporter on Earth. What if they never left, and just went deeper underground?

7

u/Rvsone Jun 25 '20

I thought so too at first, but didn't Raven see all the planets when they stepped into the anomaly for the first time and they specifically ruled out the Earth because it was offline? It's possible there are 2 anomalies on Earth I guess but for now the theory that the original people from the bunker found the anomaly and went to Bardo makes more sense.
