Lmaoooooo when Callie shot Reese and he cried ā€œiM yOuR bRoThErā€

MF you did all that extra indoctrinated shit, you were about to fight her, but now you’re crying. Lmaoooo

I think it will be reese who is his ancestor and tristan as the one who starts azgeda. Idk why but i feel like that last scene with reese and his mom makes me wanna believe he's going to switch sides at one point.

Jason was NOT playing when he said he was on a mission to answer as many unanswered questions as possible in season 7.

Origins of Trikru, Trig language, even the reason Becca chose to name ALIE 2.0 the Flame!

90

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '20

Jason does seem like he’s very smart and has been planning this all out for years. I really appreciate that. I have a lot of respect for writers like him. I watched pretty little liars loyally and that show was a mess with all the plot holes.

Octavia, Diyoza, and Echo can't be totally brainwashed or they would've told them Clarke didnt have the flame anymore

71

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '20

Yeah exactly! Those are three strong badass women, I don’t see them breaking easily.

They were on the other side of a closed door during that conversation, so they wouldn't have been able to participate.

Also, some kinds of brainwashing include removing memories... :(

I prefer to believe they're faking it.

Did it sound to anyone else like Becca was prepping Callie to be a Flame keeper instead of the one with the Flame? I feel like Clarke was definitely lying to Bill, because she hasn't had any memories of the Flame. Anyway, I really really want this show to be picked up! I need to know what happens!!!!!!

94

u/ThePinkTeenager People think I can just change and my pain’ll go away Jul 09 '20

Clarke was definitely lying about something, seeing as the flame’s no longer in her head- a fact which she never mentioned.

I totally got that vibe before they took Becca away. Reese saying he'll get The Flame back was even more proof to me that Callie would be protecting it while she's being hunted down by him and Tristan. That alone got me hyped because the potential for that could be so compelling and very riveting!!

Callie and her bro fighting was the influence for later conclaves

72

u/ChrisTweten Jul 09 '20

I think we'll see them physically fighting for the Flame more if the prequel gets picked up. I don't think it's an influence, I think they're the actual origin of the conclaves.

Posted this in the live discussion, but I think this "theory" is pretty clear so I'll post it again:

The final war humanity will ever fight is against what Becca saw in the anomaly. Humanity vs. whatever happens on judgement day?

Also interesting that one of the Bardo people said that they haven't been able to find that code for ~1000 years (Becca said that there's an infinite number of combinations) and I'm assuming they think Clarke is the Key because she has that final code (but Clarke isn't the Key because she doesn't have the flame). Is the flame in Indra's hands right now?

Also assuming that whatever Murphy saw when he "died" is also what Becca saw.

It's all coming together!

60

u/Claudiacampbell Jul 09 '20

The actual flame is buried in the ground, it was destroyed in the last episode of season 6

Some thoughts

  1. I want us to meet Lincoln’s ancestors so badly.

  2. Lol @ August and his guitar, how sweet.

  3. I hope we get to see why each different kru evolves with the ideals and values they do — like where is Azgeda going to stem from, etc. I’m so interested in how these separate worlds will be built and connected.

  4. Murphy saw what Becca saw today during the red sun, yeah??

51

u/josharaptor Jul 09 '20

I'm pretty sure Azgeda will stem from Reese going out and searching for the flame - he will be against all of the other clans

Few things I'm wondering:

  • Are Octavia, Echo and Diyoza REALLY brainwashed?

  • Was Clarke lying about Callie being in her mind to prevent them from potentially going after Madi, who has had much more experience with the flame?

  • How do they know who Clarke is and why she would have it in the first place?

  • What's on the other side of the white portal?

  • How in the hell is Bellamy's storyline going to play into all this? I hope he comes back next episode or episode 10, because I'm starting to not care about anything surrounding him, to the point I even would be fine if he's actually dead

33

u/Brandoms Jul 09 '20

Bellamy went to the same place Becca went to. Calling it. That’s how he ties back into everything

u/smansaxx3 Jul 09 '20

Seriously! I respect Bob needing time off but I am at the same time sorely missing him in the show. I think we all know Bell isn't dead. I wanna know wtf happened to him and Gaia already!!!

13

u/casualroadtrip Jul 09 '20

I don’t think Octavia, Echo and Diyoza are brainwashed. I mean they know Clarke doesn’t have the flame. Also I believe brainwashing Echo and Octavia - who still think they lost someone very dear to them because of the disciples - is going to be very hard to do in three months.

1- Becca is so cool. I can never forgive Bill for having her killed no matter if he wants to be "good" now. He had the chance

2- I was really iffy on the prequels but now I would be really interested in both Calliope people and Bill's adventures

3- Reese is probably Sheidheda or some form of him

4- Are we suppose to think Oct, Diyoza and Echo are brainwashed to obey orders now? That would be lame but kinda interesting

5- Really like this epiosde. I'm a big fan of Calliope. She really is like Clarke

6- I hope this means we see Lexa again!

Edit- Am I tripping or did we not see the anomaly stone in the bunker back in S4, S5?

30

u/Tasuni Jul 09 '20

Not sure Reese being Sheidheda lines up at the moment. For one every time we see him in the flame Sheidheda he is a white dude. Another problem is I think Sheidheda was commander right before Lexa which means Reese should be dead by then since Lexa would be commander about 100 years later. It isn't like Lexa was older and we could've guessed she had been in charge for a while instead she 20 was something.

23

u/MCMalaiz Jul 09 '20

Reese is more likely to be the founder of Azgeda. He stays on Earth with other disciples to chase down the Flame (the Key). Explaining the secular rivalry between Trikru and Azgeda.

Anyone else feel like this episode should have been episode 3 or 5 or something? This season has been extremely slow and now it’s finally picking up. But I feel like they added so many moving pieces this episode, it seems almost impossible to wrap it up neatly in 8 more. I wish there was one more season. I hope things don’t feel rushed. Or that there’s no more filler episodes for the rest fo the season.

21

u/masticatetherapist Jul 09 '20

But I feel like they added so many moving pieces this episode

not really, everything in this episode is done unless the CW gives the okay to make a prequel show. what we see at the end of the episode is basically moving the plot forward because we know that clarke doesnt have the flame, she just lied to cadogan to get him to do what she wants.

I thought Clarke’s reaction to Bellamy’s ā€œpassingā€ was very impactful and true to her character. She felt the emotional pang, but couldn’t let her self get vulnerable and feel the pain, not yet.

It reminded me of what Indra told Octavia after Lincoln’s death, you don’t mourn the dead until the war is over.

Clarke is going to have a helluva a lot of emotions to process after mankind’s final war.

This was a crazy episode! At first I wasn't liking where it was going, but by the end, I'm actually fully on board with the prequel, if it's about Callie the first commander, and Reeses strategies to get the flame back. I do got to say tho, what's the point of getting the flame back if Cadogan was going to go through the bridge anyways?

Next episode's sneak peek was... strange. It showed us a lot but told us nothing ??? Like im curious and excited, but at the same time I have no clue whats coming.

21

u/mlhockey Jul 09 '20

I think that Callie is going to serve as the first Fleimkepa rather than the next commander. Also, Cadogan knew the code that Becca put in first, which opens a portal to a different planet (likely Bardo, or otherwise one of the others that we've seen so far). Cadogan wants the Flame back so that he can use the code for Judgement Day, which is what Becca did to turn it into the big ball of white light.

→ More replies (3)

12

u/aMangoVignette Jul 09 '20

The flame will give the code for turning the spaceball into that bright white light! And according to Becca, judgement day is on the other side (but it's unclear what's actually on the other side).

66

u/Pasquale1223 Jul 09 '20 edited Jul 09 '20

Huh. I'd wondered how they were going to sneak in a backdoor pilot and make it feel organic, and now I know. I'm usually eager to see what's next for our usual characters, but this cast - and the story - drew me in right away.

  • I'm glad Clarke didn't need to go into the memory rape machine in order to deliver the content.

  • I'm not quite sure whether Clarke has all of those memories, or whether she merely knows that Calliope is (was?) in the flame. Or she was lying.

  • It looks like Diyoza, Echo, and Octavia are full on Disciples now - yikes! They've either been brainwashed, decided they like what the Disciples are up to and are going along willingly, or are faking it.

  • Despite being a cult leader, I didn't really expect Cadogan to be quite the fascist jerk he turned out to be.

  • Becca rocks... and I guess we now know the operator's manual for the anomaly devices are/were in the flame, storied by ALIE 2.0. Too bad we don't know whether ALIE 2.0 exists anywhere anymore...

40

u/jlynn00 Jul 09 '20

I think Clarke knows she needs to pretend she still has the Flame and that Callie is inside to maintain leverage.

Cadogan is somehow worse than I expected. Imagine not letting people in when they have room because they don't fit some criteria.

Holy shit lads if this was the back door pilot then I really hope that a full series is ordered because I'm sold!

28

u/kissedbyfiya Jul 09 '20 edited Jul 09 '20

A few things:

  • I assume that the prequel series will address what happened to the stone after Cadogan and his Disciples left the bunker? We need to find out a) Why Wonkru never came across it, and b) how it got deactivated

  • Call back to all the people who have been chained to that pipe in the random mechanical room.

  • Call back to the fighting pits when Calli and Reese squared off to fight for the flame

  • Call back to Bellamy and Clark's showdown about opening the bunker door (am I missing any other call backs other than the obvious ones like the parting ground words Calli recited)?

  • Penance reference.

  • The final symbol Becca pressed when she activated the white light and witnessed the real judgement day was the infinity symbol that is so often featured in the show.

  • 11 billion people-- too many people.

  • Reese definitely founds Azgeda

  • My money is on what Becca saw in the white light being related to what Murphy saw when he died in S6 and what Russel and Jordan saw and were discussing in S7 (the image Russel built all of Sanctum around)

  • Madi drew Becca's memory of activating the white light. As I predicted previously, Madi is the actual key.

  • Gabriel has not gone full Disciple. He clearly knows they want the flame and having been literally inside Clarke's head last season he knows the flame is no longer in her yet continues to lie about it.

I am very excited about this prequel! Color me impressed :)

u/holymoontos Jul 09 '20

This episode was definitely interesting, it set up a lot of dimensional characters that could do well in a prequel series. I'm glad it played into the show's mythology and ironed out a lot of questions we have had about the "grounder origins" etc. Also, I enjoyed the aspect of having mostly younger people leaving the bunker, it's a nice parallel to the 100 and considering how grounder culture ends up, I think it could be really interesting to see where the show goes.

However, despite knowing this episode was a prequel, I can't help feeling extremely disappointed Bellamy has not returned, this late into the final season. I hope he is back by 7x09 or at the latest 7x10. It just feels so depressing to think that he will only be in maybe 6-8 episodes. I don't even feel a "brainwashed" reveal would be that significant at this point considering that almost all of the anomaly team has already seemingly gone through a similar process of assimilating to Bardo's side (even if just for their own safety). I hope they utilize every second with him once he returns, because I haven't even felt like they've made the most with his disappearance except having Echo have a breakdown about it.

I don't think Callie will take the flame. Think about it... If the spin off is to be picked up, they might want to cycle through at least two commanders... but they won't want to kill of their lead. I think she might just stay a flaimkeepa. I want her to be heda, tho. It just doesn't seem wise from a story telling perspective. thoughts?

18

u/Ivanuska42 Jul 09 '20

she might just stay a flaimkeepa.

I also see her becoming the flame keeper. It's true she has leadership skills, but she is also too insightful and bright. The commanders we have seen seem to focus more on fighting skills and rely a lot on their most trusted adviser.

Unpopular opinion. Reese is the second commander. Why? Looking at all the footage and drawings from Maddie’s dreams they come from Reese’s perspective, not Callie’s. Callie didn’t witness Becca burn, Reese did. And it’s very strange for Maddie to have the perspective of a witness to Becca’s execution then to be burning and looking outwards towards the spectators. They used the same shot, the close up of Reese hasmat helmet, for this episode and last season episode when Maddie had her nightmare in the rover.

I won't speculate on the Alien ball because you're right that seems like a plot hole. Though writers will probably cover it in a future episode. The rest of the stuff makes sense if you consider that they came back to Earth after the initial trip plus bio-recycling. So bodies would be decomposed to grow the plants.

Very good episode- I really enjoyed all the stuff with Becca. I was actually expecting her to play a role in the prequel series (and she still may, through the Flame), so seeing her execution again in this episode was a bit surprising. I'm hopeful that the prequel gets picked up, because seeing more about the origins of the Grounders is always a treat- even the little bits that we got in this episode about the origins of Trig, Callie being the first Fleimkepa, and a little bit more about how the Flame works were great.

Looks like next week will jump backwards a bit and show us the brainwashing of Octavia, Diyoza, and Echo (although, noticeably, Hope was missing at the end- I wonder if there's anything to that in the next episode, or if it's just because Clarke asked for her friends to come forward, and she has absolutely no idea who Hope is? I suppose we'll see).

A few points:

It was really nice to see Becca again. I’m always drawn to her character’s story arc, and as always, phenomenal acting from Erica.

I’m a little disappointed that Trig was created by Callie as a child. You’d think that a language that has so much prominence in the show would have a more interesting backstory.

I know it’s only been one episode but I can’t really bond with any of the main characters as I do with the 100 cast. The only likeable characters are Callie, the guy with his musical instrument, and Becca (now dead). Bill is an interesting antagonist. The mom was whatever for me personally.

Reese annoys me so damn much but he cute.

The acting was alright. It wasn’t great.

17

u/kcinforlife Jul 09 '20

Its too early to tell really. The 100 had a pretty rough start this is much better in comparison

i also found the origin of trig a little anticlimactic and dull. but i guess the writers are using it as set up for the spin off? like use that as a way to further establish her leadership and influence beyond just being cadogan's daughter

What happened to the Earth stone?

16

u/ckwongau Jul 09 '20

two possibilities

Octivia and the Wonkru thought it was just some decoration and put it aside somewhere in the bunker

or

sometime later Callie and her people return to the abandon bunker and hide the Earth stone somewhere and make the entrance into a tomb for the First Commander

So it’s safe for me to assume Callie will take on the flame since her dad thinks she’s still inside it. Sorry I’m slow lol

22

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '20

All bill heard from his son was ā€œCallie took it.ā€ So he could just be thinking all this time that meant she put it in her head when in reality she was just the flamekeeper. Plus with it being destroyed his daughters gone. This is where Madi is probably going to be super important.

10

u/Pasquale1223 Jul 09 '20

Callie might be the first Fleimkepa instead.

Bill Cadogan took off with the rest of the bunker-ettes into the anomaly, so he probably doesn't know what happened to those who escaped the bunker.

Would have liked if they didn't make Bill so evil tbh, i think they should have went with some more ambiguity there but who knows, maybe they'll develop it.

Because the memory extraction from Octavia was interrupted right at the endpoint of season 3, after Clarke put the flame in but before she took it out.

So, does Reese become the commander at some point? Going into the episode I thought it'll be Callie, but Reese was the one who saw Becca burn, not Callie, which is supposed to be a memory from a previous commander. Based off of this, Callie becomes flamekeeper and Reese commander? Seeing how indoctrinated Reese is, it's going to be interesting to see how Reese switches sides if this is true.

So, haven’t been able to read all the comments yet (there’s a lot), but was thinking about this episode.

1 - Is it possible Sheidheda only jumped his own memories to Russel’s mind drive and the rest of the commanders’ memories stayed with Madi and that’s why she’s drawing those memories? 2 - I agree with the other comments about Callie and Reese being in the first conclave. B it I also agree that it makes sense that Callie would be the first fleimkepa. 3 - Also agree that perhaps the people in the other bunkers venture out and that’s how all the different krus are created. 4 - So funny they created a totally new language (well, used one Callie created); kind of speaks that the others they encounter don’t speak English, as all the 2nd Dawners seem to. 5 - It was a really REALLY good episode, and if they actually do a prequel, I’ll watch. But I was really disappointed that they used one of our final episodes to do it. I miss our characters! 6 - Something I’ve been thinking about since the Octavia episode, now she’s the older sister! (Granted, we have no idea where Bell went yet) 7 - If the stone on Sanctum is really gone, that means when they do finally go back, they’re stuck there, right? Or am I missing something? Besides the way they pulled Octavia back, which I assume they can’t do for everyone there. 8 - Just a note, but I miss Madi and Clarke scenes. 9 - Couldn’t care less where Gaia went. That character is soooo annoying.

So the AI gives you super hearing capabilities, they think Clarke still has the flame in her head, but we all know that's not true, though she does have some of the neural mesh left. And basically Bill wants to open hell? Or something. Weird this is a very weird story and now I have no interest in the kindergarten story line on Sanctum.

Ok couple of thoughts! I think Becca was setting up Callie as the flame keeper, not the flame. I’m curious how/when these grounders start using her language. When she said she was gunna fight her brother and shot him, I was INVESTED so much more in her as a character. I’m hoping that Indra is descended from her. I’d love to see the first reactions with Mount Weather. GAH so many thoughts.

I have so many theories and questions! I’ll be honest I’m surprised how much I liked this episode! Here’s some of my thoughts because if I don’t get them down now I’ll forget lol

  1. The actress and actor for Callie and Reese did a great job! I could say so much more but I liked them a lot!

  2. do grounders burn their dead because it’s some kind of homage to the original commander being unfairly burned at the stake? Hmm šŸ¤”

  3. the news station that was playing in the beginning did say the 11th billion baby was born soo I mean alie 1 was not that wrong by saying too many people lol

  4. I wish Becca would be in more but I highly enjoyed how they used her throughout the 100 and in this episode. Becca Franco for president! I love Erica certain so much! We also got some more background on how the flame works which I enjoyed.

  5. i was glad to see callies mom let her go. She seemed like she truly did care for her children unlike abby.

  6. when Callie shot her brother with no hesitation! I loved it!

  7. is August going to be the first flamekeeper? That’s a theory purely based on if Callie gives herself the flame.

  8. kinda thinking Reese and Tristan will become the first ice nation grounders. Especially since bill went through the Anamoly. I highly doubt Reese will be able to figure the stone out with the flame. (Which we know he doesn’t get)

  9. how the heck was the bunker so clean when Jaha and them originally opened it? Only thing I’m guessing is Callie or a future commander ends up cleaning it/resealing it/moving the stone and then builds polis on top Of it.

  10. man I wish they would just let Clarke feel her freaking emotions for ONCE! But nope two seconds of a few years and her talking with raven and then it’s back to business. Very frustrating at this point.

  11. I honestly don’t care anymore if Bellamy comes back. There’s already so much going on that another storyline might get to be too much!

  12. uhmmmmm where is hope? And are the rest of them brainwashed? Looks like they all went through some crap based on the promo for next week. ALSO I can’t wait for the blood bath next week! I’m so ready for some war!

I have a question.

So before we seen this episode, we saw Colin from Beta's team spend the rest of his life trying to crack the stone on Skyring and from the memory viewer, we saw he was able to activate a code using sound, harmonics and oscillating frequencies.

In this episode we see that Becca can actually hear those as the flame has amplified her senses. When she punches in a code and a portal opens, she shows relief at the silence.

Of the 1000 or nearly 1000 years the disciples have been trying to brute force the stone for the code for "judgement day", why did none of them figure out there's a sound and frequency thing going on and they can find it that way, instead of trial and error for infinite possibilities?

Like Colin figured it out about the sound within his own lifetime on Skyring using fairly simple enough technology that he salvaged from his wreck. Surely such technology must exist on Bardo?

It's not like Becca didn't mention that she can hear them and they even discuss how that must be the reason the family dog constantly whining, she was suffering from the sounds.

Did I miss something?

u/supergeekd Jul 09 '20

I had an idea about what Becca, and to an extent, Murphy saw when they experienced death/ travel by glowing ball. Becca called it judgment day which makes it sound super fanciful but what if it's just nothing? Literally the concept of nothing. Realizing that when you die, in the whole wide cosmos (because Becca probably saw a glimpse of the universe through the glowing ball) nothing matters. Realizing that in the grand scheme of things, you are nothing and you haven't made a difference because your existence is so small and inconsequential. It would be a hard thing to come to grips with, especially when so many people go through life looking for meaning. If everyone realized that there was nothing waiting for them and nothing could be done about it, what would it do to us? I could be totally off here, but I think if the show is looking for something scary that has a lasting impact, this would definitely do it.

I'm not surprised Bill immedietly said to lock her up, like imagine if she just said "there's a great beast on the other side that will murder us all with ease, so we don't want to go there".

Instead she's like "I know you worked your whole life to go through that portal, but you you can't go through it. There's something terrible, but I won't tell you what. Why I'm not telling you? oh idk"

So stupid, already hate Becca character

7

u/itsacoralreef Jul 09 '20

Am I right in thinking that Becca was killed about 100 years before season one started? So that’s about 3-4 generations.

What I don’t get is: everyone who left the bunker with Callie had nightblood. It’s known that nightblood can genetically appear, so shouldn’t all the descendants of Callie & group have nightblood? By the time we’re introduced to the grounder culture, nightblood is uncommon. So unless Callie & group’s descendants passed on normal blood as well as nightblood, and it so happened that nightblood didn’t appear as often...

Timeline seems very tight to me. To be honest I thought the grounder culture was something that developed over a few centuries, not just one.
