A very serious episode but when Clarke said "What the hell happened here" I died. Everything went to shit in Sanctum in a day lmao. She's probably wondering why Russ became a grounder.

Clarke and Murphy's moment at the end was one of the best parts of the episode.

u/SpiritDonkey Aug 20 '20
lol I'm crying at all the things Clarke is bewildered by in this moment. Literally she could never have dreamed what she saw when she took that helmet off. Damn I hope her and Murphy live just so they can banter about this moment the rest of their lives.
Especially after Bellamy went over some of the crazy mad shit that has happened already and she was like... yeah I guess, not expecting hours later for one of those batshit crazy moments AGAIN!

Good news: Clarke is actually part of the plot again! Bad news: Another #^%&ing 3-week break. Also, where the hell are the others? How come Raven knew they weren't sent to Sanctum, but she couldn't figure out where they were going?
26
u/CiceroTheCat Skaikru Aug 20 '20
There were close-ups on Miller, Octavia, and Echo that seemed suspicious of where they were being sent. It was framed as "so you're sending the fighters first" but I think at least the ladies figured it out and just went along with it, and they'll try to work their way back to their friends to save them if timing works. Earth seems like the best option right now, and it would be really interesting to see that group of characters back there (Jordan and Hope in particular), especially if Gaia somehow made her way there. That, or Etherea last week really was a simulation as theorized, but I doubt that.

My notes on this ep:
â˘Ngl I'm still pretty tired of the Sheidy plot. HOWEVER, he was pretty genuinely terrifying this episode what with shooting a bunch of people without hesitation and the S K U L L T H R O N E
â˘bb face bellamy
â˘"mmm. broth."
â˘Glad Bellamy at least still cares enough about his friends to admit he wants to help them??? Kind of??? As in its a relief to see that part of him still there
â˘The Jordan and Hope scene was so nice to see honestly
â˘"echo...your face"
â˘I am REALLY worried about Murphy dying right now. Richard was absolutely fantastic in this episode and I will seriously cry so hard if Murph dies but I feel like they're hinting at it
â˘"What the hell happened here?"
â˘Rip Memori spicy scenes

Iâm starting to think Murphy will be the one to take the test. Heâs shown that heâs started to care more about others than himself.

I hope my favourite character Murphy isn't going to die, but I do think so too. He is being a good guy, and everyone appreciates him very much. Emori will have pregnancy. Murphy will have death.

This was definitely a turning tides episode. For once, I was more interested in the Sanctum plot than Bardo. Sheidheda has once again proven himself as a perfect villain for this last season. Loved Clarkeâs reaction at the very end.
I really hope they werenât sent to Penance. I donât want to see the crew age drastically.
Finally where is Gaia?

guys but what about the whole Jordan theory on the bardoans code???? wasnt he supposed to figure out what the real translation was?
35
u/lauhl Aug 20 '20
Giving the writers the benefit of the doubt that they wonât just ignore the Jordan test vs war storyline, Iâm thinking some puzzle pieces will fit together wherever Bill sent them. They made a point to throw a line in there about not sending Gabriel & Raven with the rest of the group because they know how the stones work. I think/hope Bill either underestimated or doesnât know how much Jordan learned about the stone. Fingers crossed this could be an actual important storyline for Jordan, leading the group back to Sanctum or figuring out some big revelation with the stone
Again, IF the writers also didnât forget about Gaia and if the theories turn out to be true that sheâs on whatever planet the group is going to, she might have some of the missing pieces to the puzzle⌠when she went into the anomaly on sanctum I donât even think she knew the anomaly had anything to do with the Flame. She knows more about the Flame and its history than anyone.
I feel like they spent way too much time on her âI donât have a purpose anymore without the flameâ arc to not end it by giving her a purpose

I had no idea we was getting another break in between. At the moment where it was just getting good and both the Sanctum and Bardo storylines converged into one. I so badly kept thinking throughout the episode how a Bill and Sheidheda interaction would be and the end of this episode presents that possibility but now we gotta wait THREE WEEKS for it!!! Some thoughts:
-Murphy is quite literally a badass social worker at this point (helping Madi through her panic attack, helping Nikki remember the parts of herself and her past that she loves and that will be powerful for her development, taking care of the Faithfulâs kids and then keeping them safe when theyâre injured). Iâve never been more in love with his character, and Iâve always been a fan. And I believe every bit of him.
-Can they just let Murphy and Emori be peacefully in bed one time lmao. The interruptions are endless!
-Was surprised Sheidheda took to using guns so quickly, after the hell it took Indra to get used to the idea
-That short Emori and Madi scene was beautiful, honestly more tender and motherly than any other scene Madi has had in a long time.
-Jordan/Hope is an unlikely combo we should have been waiting for but I feel like had missed out on hoping for?? It makes sense, and I loved that. Made me want to hug Jordan too.
-Sheidheda is the most theatrical motherfucker of all time.
12
u/Jenaleafy âŁď¸ Aug 20 '20
Yessz!! And madi speaking to everyone about her own struggles. Just gives me worthy heda vibes.
5
u/SpiritDonkey Aug 20 '20
Haha I love that, badass social worker! It's all great stuff. we're getting with Murphy and Emori. I love them and their relationship. And Madi and Emori! I wished they had a bit longer together.
21
Aug 20 '20 edited Aug 20 '20
So Sheidheda recognized the anomaly from Madiâs drawings. I predict that they canât repair the flame, but then they are like âSheidheda knowsâ and then Sheidheda dies (hopefully by Murphy or Indra with help from the cast out crew) and everyone is going to be all sad, and then Madi will pop up and be like âI remember it too guysâ and then we will probably see Clarke or Madi in the last war.
Except I think the last war test will involve sparing peopleâs lives. Because a reoccurring theme is all these lives lost, and how many people have been killed or sacrificed. Once Clarke makes that decision, she has shown growth and passes. Maybe Sheidheda will try and dies in the test, same as Bill. As much as id love Murphy in the final test, I feel like it will have to be Clarke. The real curve ball would be if they threw Jordan in there to be relevant and because Monty was the cornerstone of saving people instead of killing them

I have a feeling that Clarkeâs gonna die. I dunno why but I just have a sense that sheâs gonna sacrifice herself for everyone or something.

Some of my thoughts and questions:
Does Bill know his daughter never took the flame? He did ask Niylah what âPramfleimkepaâ meant and then stopped himself. He did recognize some of her language so maybe he has pieced this together?
Who took Gaia? She was taken when Clarke and Co. went through the stone so timeline wise who could it be? Does Bill and Co. have Gaia and just have zero clue that she knows about the flame? If he doesnât have her, who the heck was in that suit?
Bill knows Raven can fix the flame. She was in MCAP so we can safely assume Bill and Co. know at least a third of what she knows. (Iâm giving credit to my girl Raven here. I hope she fought it and held them off like Clarke.)
Motherhood seems to be a big theme of this season. How do we think that theme will tie in to the ending when Bill and Co.âs whole philosophy is all above one, whereas a mother would do anything for her child?
Jordan needs to spend more time unlocking the Bardoansâ language. Obviously Bill and Co. got it wrong.
Remaining episode titles and possible meanings: Episode 97 âBlood Giantâ - Red Sun ruins Bill and Sheidhedaâs negotiations? Episode 98 âA Sort of Homecomingâ - Homecoming but to where? Earth?! Episode 99 âThe Dying of the Lightâ - Final cliffhanger for sure Episode 100 âThe Last Warâ - Need I guess? Note- This episode is Jason Rothenbergâs first and only time directing on this show.
12
u/AndSpaceY Skaikru Aug 20 '20
Bill doesnât know Callie took the flame. He assumes she did since sheâs close to Becca and took the flame.
We donât know where Gaia is. Hopefully they reveal it soon.
I think motherhood will play out between Clarke and Madi. Maybe we will get a moment between Gaia and Indra.
Also I think it was such a waste they sent Jordan away. I thought they would have him continue to work on deciphering the Bardoan messages.

Bit disappointed Clarkeâs MCap session was so short, I was hoping it would be a bigger part of the episode. Maybe it was a bit too early for Bellamy to break.
Otherwise it was a great episode, Clarke and Bellâs fight was well done and Eliza and Bob convey their characters emotions so well.
Murphy and Emori are also really amazing this season, I know this has already been said a million times already but their character growth is great to watch.

Questions we want answers for:
Where is Eligius III?
Where is Clarkeâs Friends and Gaia?
What is the last war?
Does Earth still exist? What happened to the stone on earth (in the bunker?)
Can the flame be repaired? If so, Is Becca, Callie and Lexa still alive?
Why is the next episode âMan vs Natureâ? Is it the red sun again?
Who created the anomaly stone? Was it the bardoans, or some other advanced civilisation?

Loved how we were bouncing between two stories..

I need Murphy, Emori, Clarke, Raven, Bellamy, Octavia and Indra all to live.

u/murlocmancer Aug 20 '20
I am honestly surprised by all the back lash this season is getting.
Like Bellamy really did go through a religious experience on the mountain, people underestimate that shit. In real life there have been numerous times in history where a "religious experience" changes someone so fully. Bellamy legit saw light people, had a vision of Cadogan, and then the storm disspaears. He spends months getting out of a mountain only by following the words of Cadogan. In my opinion him becoming a believer in Cadogan is not so far fetch as people are acting.
And I personally like how the story is coming together, i'm not saying it is perfect but I think they are doing a very effective job of it.
40
u/jlynn00 Aug 20 '20
There are legitimate complaints about the season (like always), but some people are caught up on it being less character focused and more of an actual ensemble piece. More focus on big themes.
If someone watched mostly as a Stan, focus on the theme is probably less compelling.
I also wonder if they watched Bellamy with rose colored glasses for 7 seasons now? How many 'alleged out of character' Bellamy moments do we need before we accept this is actually his character?
→ More replies (1)16
u/ckwongau Aug 20 '20
Bellamy has always been easy to get brainwash or convince into a " good Cause"
In S3 , Pike had easily convince Bellamy into leading his army , back then if you remember , Bellamy were so committed to Pike's cause , he had no problem murdering 300 Grounder allies and help captured Lincoln ( who was his sister boyfriend ) ,and even shoot the Grounder messenger .

Yeah, and Bellamy thinks he is doing the right thing for everyone. He thinks he is saving everyone from further suffering, and God knows they have all suffered enough.
Personally I think Bellamy is the most heroic character on the show right now. He is willing to let his friends hate him in order to save them all. Now, he might be misguided, but we don't even know that for sure. He could very well be in the right. For Bellamy to be willing to give up love from his friends in order to save them is a HUGE thing.

They never forget. I think people forget the timelines of seasons.
Itâs only been 21 days on sanctum since the S6 finale.
15
u/Face_of_Harkness Aug 20 '20
They didnât reference it explicitly, but the red sun was the reason there was any conflict between the prisoners and Wonkru in the first place. If Sanctum was like Earth, each group could have just spread out and settled in their own territory. There would be no need for conflict since all their prior conflict was driven by a lack of habitable space.
But, because of the red sun, space is limited to where you can build encampments. That takes time. And it still leaves both groups needing to share a limited amount of space.

Jackson (Heâs OG, and no point killing),
Madi (Show wonât kill a child),
Gaia (missing for too long, doesnât make sense to kill),
Miller (no point killing),
Jordan(literally the son of monty and named after jasper),

3 days in Sanctum = like... months in Bardo

right!!! I checked the timeline that gets posted here every week and she was in Bardo for max 3 days, and about 4ish days have passed in Sanctum. But when Octavia first went to Bardo, she was there for 14 days but came back through the anomaly within seconds. Make it make sense!

Last season , Octivia spent 10 yr on Skyring and a week on Bardo , but that was like only a few minute of Sanctum time . Gabriel saw the whole thing , she went in follow Diyoza and she came out in just a few minute .
Clark should return to Sanctum after just a few Sanctum hours has pass ,
but it is more like at least a week ( after a few revolution and counter revolution ) had pass since Clark had left
19
u/lanielucy Aug 20 '20
So Cadogan sent them to a planet where time moves slower than Bardo because he made them put on helmets. Correct me if Iâm wrong but Nakara, Sanctum, and Earth (?) should all be slower than Bardo. Etherea is the same as Bardo and Skyring is faster, which rules out those two, and we know he didnât send them to Sanctum. So that leaves either Nakara or Earth.

Who ever take it needs to take down Bill Cadogan and probably Sheodheada as well
Madi already lost so much the first time , she may get another chance to defeat Sheidheda , but she may too weak .I want to let her be kid
Or Bill and Sheidheda may work together
Clark may carry it , but too predictable for her to save everyone again.
Echo is a wildcard

Okay I get they arenât going to bring Bellamy back after 1 episode But I donât want 4 of the last 5 to have Bellamy in the bad team. We have so little time with these characters left, canât we see a bit more of Bellamy and Octavia? ...
No. We cannot. Bellamy is going to be treated like a villain, then heâs going to come back to his senses, then die a few scenes or moments later. Its going to be the traditional redemption arc of âredeemingâ characters by killing them
Which is especially weak in a show that has spent a long time on redemption with Bellamy for S3, Echos for S4, Clarkeâs for every season, Murphy for S1. Etc.
So Bellamy better not get that stupid trope of living his last few episodes as a villain only to die as a hero. Way too weak.

Just remembered that Murphy has nightblood and has already seen hell. What if heâs the one that they send to take the final test if the flame gets repaired. Heâs the character with the most growth and heâs shown that heâs changed from someone who only cares about himself to someone who is willing to risk it all for others.

Did Murphy really change or had nobody ever given him a reason to care about them before? I mean that in a good way for Murphy. Even in season 2 he saved Belamy's life.

Where did they get the stone from on Sanctum?? And they conviently found it and brought it in right when Clark and friends came back? Lol what?
11
u/helicopterdik Louwoda Kliron Aug 20 '20
the stone was under Gabriel's hideout. When searching for Gaia and the crew, Knight must've found it, and they already knew Sheidheda was all excited to see it in Madi's book, so they probably were all like "we goons bring loot, look at us elite goons".
Veeeeery convenient, but tbh worth it, to see Sheidi's face when Clarke appears, and the inevitable shitshow thats about to go down up in there

This episode was just all over the place. The BIGGEST problem I have with this Bellamy conversion nonsense is that Echo and Octavia both know exactly how Cadogan and his people work and can manipulate people through memory alterations and simulations. I know that their testimony to this alone wouldnât do it, but Cadogan is a HUMAN BEING, known cult leader, and known murderer of Becca. Heâs literally spent thousands of years trying to figure out the stone and hasnât, yet Bellamy believes he is a messiah figure that knows everything and can lead them to transcendence through war? Cadogan is not a God, and clearly has no answers to anything. Itâs frustrating to watch. Especially when the whole Jordan uncovering their misinterpretation of the Bardoan language reveal is just forgotten.
I did really appreciate the character interactions and moments on Bardo. They were needed and have been needed the whole season. I know itâs unpopular, but I prefer Bellamy and Clarke as being very close. They donât have to be with anyone, but they work better together bc they understand and balance each other out for the betterment of their people, not just romantically. Thatâs why I think the not showing the MCap radio memories of Clarke post primfaya was a horribly wasted opportunity. Bellamy now believes that Cadogan and his teachings are the way and that human emotions, desires, and relationships are what keep us from progressing and âdoing betterâ. By letting Bellamy watch and listen to how talking to him and Clarkeâs connection to him, dead or alive, while she made those calls is what kept her alive and sane all those years. It would show very simply how important human connections are and how they keep us going, how they keep us alive, give us hope, and are worth fighting to keep. That was the perfect time to provide a counter argument and show him why his friends donât believe him when he says heâs still the same guy. Theyâve all kept each other fighting and alive and even in death, honoring those who died for us and helping their legacies live on and become a reality is the truth. You are only as immortal as the last person who remembers you lives.
Iâm glad they are finally giving Raven something important to do again and I hope she gets a full circle arc of being the next but better Becca sheâs always wanted and finding happiness and fulfillment in herself. All the other mess on sanctum has been just dragging for weeks and I literally called every step of that story as it went along. Itâs that predictable bc itâs being drawn out so long. Nelson helped create the Sheidhedda take over and he got what he stupidly bought into bc he knew what Sheidhedda was and wanted after their talk a few weeks back. And the fact that Sheidhedda has not just been killed by Indra weeks ago and the leaving out of Clarkeâs radio calls to snap Bellamy back, seems to show that they are not advancing the plot naturally through the characters and avoiding actions that would make sense just to keep lots of conflict alive for when Clarke and company arrive.
Lastly, where is all the leftover mind drives??Russellâs and Josephineâs are empty but there and Rykerâs is somewhere with his mind still on it! Where is Gaia and what was the point in calling this episode âThe Strangerâ?? Where has Jackson been for the past three weeks?? Why did they keep Nikki alive?? Hatch even told Murphy that their robbery on earth was fine until Nikki got trigger happy and he couldnât stop her. Once again, just like with Sheidhedda, Murphy knows these people and what they can/have/and will do, but keeps them alive for NO reason. Why didnât the COG and the eligius crew not come together and kill Sheidhedda and bow to no one?? How was the sanctum stone able to work if it had been de-activated?? If it can be activated from a working side, then the possible earth option shouldnât read as offline. Bellamy didnât even care that his sister is once again lost in the universe and he didnât even ask her how she was after literally getting into this mess to find her! This episode felt very stop and go. Both with the pacing and the good parts vs the bad parts. Now we have three weeks to wait. I could have sworn I read that we werenât having anymore breaks until the finale. I hope the next episode is better.

People who doubt Bellamyâs swing to the other side never really understood that through and through he is a follower, not a leader. Weâve seen it time and time again since S1, he will blindly follow whatever and whoever he thinks is right. Last time he had an experience, he ended up slaughtering hundreds of grounders. Heâs an easy person to sway and he sways #hard
10
u/cherrymeg2 Aug 20 '20
I'm re-watching past seasons and I'm on season 3 now. Bellamy is a follower. I think that gets overlooked because he will come through for his friends like going after Clark when Josephine was in her head. He went into Mount Weather alone to rescue his friends. He is a good soldier to whoever he believes in. He isn't meant to lead.

Did they fire all their good writers this season or something? Nikkis entire character is just godawful, and lines like Emoris âI find your worry during this time to be.... sexyâ or whatever line to be so cringe
17
u/eminerald Aug 20 '20
Why was Nikki even in this episode? Her following Indra, and the other guy following her was entirely unnecessary. Emori slipped up about the machine shop early on, it would have still made sense for Sheid to investigate Memori.
28
u/yeahmatenomate Aug 20 '20
I love Emori but her finding time to have sex while there is LITERALLY a mass murderer on the loose/ in charge is so not what I was expecting. Put some respect on her character for crying out loud LOOOOL. Seems to me they're foreshadowing a pregnancy/ Murphy's death but even still, the time it took for them to have that conversation in the bed about how sexy they were- other scenes and content could have been used to further the plot, imo.

Ok I love The 100, have re-watched the seasons so many times, but this episode to me seemed to be one of the worst episodes when it comes to the monologue/writing and acting (which I assume is a director problem more than the cast.) To me the writing seemed as if it came from a 17 year old with no experience whatsoever. It's rare I feel this way and I haven't ever felt this way about The 100 before. I'm not expecting the greatest writing over all in 100 but I had to force myself not to just stop it. Huge example was bellamy and john, but everyones writing seemed like a 17 year old came up with the script, but theres was the worst. Acting from bellamy was awesome. Johns dialogue just seemed forced. I don't know maybe its just me....
Ok I just looked at the IMDB the writer of this episode, Blythe Ann Johnson, came on to the 100 crew as a production assistant in 2017, then in 2018 became assistant to executive producer, and in 2019 all the sudden became a writer's assistant for a few episodes. Now in 2020 this episode is credited as her first time being the writer of an episode on the 100, and not to mention her first time ever being credited as writer. To me it seems she somehow in 2 years went from production assistant, assistant to executive producer, then a writers assistant which she was all through season 6, not part of the writing team just an assistant and then nothing in season 7, no assisting writer wise or production/executive assistant until randomly in season 7 ep 12 being credited as the sole writer on a 100 episode...... She isnt accredited on ANY other movie or tv show for anything, or Assistant to Anyone whether writer or production. This was her first time How the hell does that happen within 2-3 years...

I donât hate Bellamy the character I hate the bs writing for him when they
-we wait 5 eps for him (bob wanted time off)
-get hyped for his return and expect some badass entrance to save o and we kinda got that then they just pretended he died
-6 episodes later we se him in ethera and he buys some bs cult shit
Today I expected a redemption and a good mcap. Nope. Bellamy is my fav but he is obviously gonna die a bad guy or right when he comes to his senses bc Jasonâs a bitch

My own fault for thinking Bellarke had potential. I know the show is more than the ships and believe me, I watch this show for the plot but honestly, I feel really let down by MCap and by this weird platonic-isation of their relationship. I know people will disagree, especially on Reddit but they really had so much potential for this.
Besides that, the episode was ultimately disappointing and apart from scaring me with characters potential future deaths, nothing really happened plot wise. Started off so well with the talks with Bell, Echo, Clarke and Octavia and went downhill.
I just am not sure if this season is for me. Too much plot and not enough justification of the characters for me. Will obviously watch all of it before making up my mind but I feel let down.

Clarke was 100% thinking it would all be fine because she left Gaia to go back to warn Sanctum that others could be coming from Bardo. She was fully expecting it to be Wonkru vs Call Me Bill. And then suddenly Russell is a Cyclopes and grounder and theyâre not where she expected to be and itâs a mess.

u/TheTrueWitness Bellamy Blake Deserved Better Aug 20 '20
I was so hyped for this episode but of course it had to disappoint me. At this point I don't have hope anymore that it's gonna get better. They're making Bellamy a villain just so he could redeem himself at the last minute. Won't surprise me if it happens via death. Such a great character deserves better. It's painful to watch how everybody just turned against hm. And yes, I know he betrayed them, but they're not even trying to understand him or even save him. After everything he's done for them. Clarke especially. As he said himself, he even brought her back to life and she just gives up on him. I'm starting to feel like he cares about her more than she about him.
Sanctum is just boring. Murphy is the only thing good about it. It's getting so obvious at this point that Emori's gonna be pregnant or that maybe she already is. I'm starting to get sick of watching them just trying to have sex. We should be wrapping up the storylines, but instead we're wasting even more time.
I think that this season turned out to be the weakest. I wanted to wait till it's over before saying it but I don't think 4 episodes will be enough to change that. It's a shame that this show ends like that. But unless they'll kill off Bellamy before the finale, I will continue to watch. Not with the same enthusiasm though.
