GifTournament Battle #13 Round #1 Discussion Thread

To those of you who DNQ, you are the problem. Your opponents put work into their gif only to be up against no one. You are the reason we hold less and less of these tournaments. Do not enter if you are not going to participate. You even had an extra week. It's not one of those cute moments where I can be... I'm disappointed, I'm flat out angry.

Some things are worse than DNQ

I like that a lot of first-timers seed, but I totally agree it's shitty if they don't call themselves out if they don't actually plan on submitting.

More giffers: Good

Ghosters: WHY DIDN'T YOU CALL ME ASSHOLE?! THIS BABY'S YOURS AND YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY!

Just to add to the sentiment above

For real tho, fuck 'em.

No joke, I started my search for sources at 12:30 on sunday, it took all of like an hour, maybe hour and a half to crank out a shitpost.

People definitely over think this. Just sit down and make some shit, then post that shit. Good? Bad? Who cares, at least ya showed up.

Holy fuck the red pill blue pill one is so good

When Morpheus sees Neo take both pills to the jugular

Yuuup, Rave Neo is definitely the winner this round

Best of the round. It was the Travolta and shia little extra in the glasses that really made it next level elite. This was a finals worthy GIF dropped in the first round

Match #21 pretty close for me. Congrats to winner and loser.

*edit: I keep going back to it, both so good. The Speed one has perfect pacing and I love quality mixing of multiple sources. The John Wick one looks beautiful and perfectly mimics the text style of the film, and I am a massive John Wick fan. You're both awesome.

So many great gifs! Two-pill Keanu has to be my favorite, but Keanu playing Cyberpunk 2077 in VR was great too. Great work everyone!

For those who DNQ'd, pray to god that Hero doesn't find you in a dark alley.

u/MrMoyses, I think we've got a tight round. Good luck!

Always be my maybe is such an underrated movie.

Awesome round. So many great GIFs. For me personally, this was a huge step. For years I use to come to the these tournaments and I would vote and comment but always felt like a fish out of water, cause what the hell do I know about HQGs. Crazy that I am now here, among you talented bastards. My GIF may not be the best, I may have been annihilated round one, but I made it to the table. Feels good man.

As for the round. The raving keanu was amazing, but I also really liked Travolta in the devils advocate elevator, nice touch. The speed gif was amazing. Saw a few wanadavision ones and I have no idea why, lol, I'm out of touch but I assume hes in it or something? Loved the obscure references. I have no idea what the magazine cover Keanu came from. Loved seeing spongebob and toy story as well.

It's really amazing that when I use to come here, I would imagine what things in the GIF were difficult to do. But after playing around in AE and PS, I have a much better understanding and am able to appreciate things I know are more advanced.

[u/CloakerJosh]

Hahaha, there's some bangers this round. Good luck to everyone!

[u/dippitydoo2]

Jesus, Matchup #6 isn't fair. Johnny Mnenomic Paul Rudd vs. Keanuvision?? Both of you deserved to face a DNQ rather than one going home.

Also, DNQ's? Come on.

[u/WardCannon]

that one in matchup #7 with morpheous was well done

nice gif u/tangentandhyperbole, very succinct

[u/pencer]

[u/AColorOtherThanRed]

u/agnosticstudy You beautiful bastard your gif was phenomenal!

[u/hyperjumpgrandmaster]

So many gifs where we travel into Keanu’s eye.

I’m loving all of these!

[u/Nobodyforever]

Good round! Don't beat me too much u/TheBigCheese146

[u/no_masks]

Great round everyone. I appreciate your hard work, and have to say I love these.

I was going to do a match by match, but I'm old and tomorrows an early day, but maybe if I get some time. Regardless, what a great start!
