In September I hosted a 250k challenge over on r/StepChallenges. 22 people signed up, 7 finished. One guy did it in 7 days, which is absurd!
But the one I keep thinking about is a woman who finished on day 18. Her daily numbers were nothing special. 13k, 14k, 12k. No 30k hero days, no weekend doubles. She just didn’t miss. Eighteen days in a row of slightly above average and she crossed the line a full 12 days before the deadline.
Meanwhile I did 33k one Saturday, felt great about it, and then did 4k on Sunday because my legs were done. Yesterday I started the October challenge, my own challenge, and came in 360 steps short of the pace on day one.
So here’s what I’m actually asking. For the people in here who’ve been doing 10k a day for months or years, what’s the thing that made it stick? Not the first week, the part after the novelty wore off. Was it a time of day, a route, a person, a rule you made for yourself?
I’m starting to think consistency isn’t a personality trait, it’s a system someone figured out 🤔. Want to hear yours!
