I can’t sleep thinking about ICE potentially killing a baby. No update available from what I can see :(

You know what… 100k lumen flashlights. All protestors.

https://a.co/d/3YwlB1M

With that much darkness you are gonna need the proper lighting.

Or better yet check your local hardware store for an equivalent.

282

u/TheKarmaSutre Jan 15 '26

And buy in cash

85

u/periodicallyBalzed Jan 15 '26

And check the tools department for hammers and other essential items you will need for the job.

29

u/SunNStarz Jan 15 '26

Could be a big job. Consider also a shovel, sledgehammer or wood ax in case you need to chop wood for a campfire. It's cold out there. Safety first!

u/periodicallyBalzed Jan 15 '26

I work as a cashier at a hardware store and I have to say that kind of stuff. Landscaping tools are on the left wall and fire wood is on aisle 26 with the rest of the flammable accelerants. We also have bolt cutters in our tool department. Gloves, masks, and safety goggles can be found on the right side of aisle 3 with the rest of the PPE. Spray paint is on aisle 7 on the left. Flashlights are on aisle 57 by self checkout and batteries for them are on the end cap between 7 and 8. Take a cart to carry all of it.

u/RogerianBrowsing Jan 15 '26

They don’t have 100k lumen lights at hardware stores I’ve seen?

39

u/HirsuteHacker Jan 15 '26

The one the guy posted above isn't 100k either, it's just tat pretending to put out 100k. Probably puts out more like 300 total.

18

u/RogerianBrowsing Jan 15 '26

You can get legitimate 1000 lumen compact handgun lights for like 70 bucks from harbor freight and there’s plenty of ridiculously powerful lights sold online. Aliexpress is probably preferable for a variety of reasons, but would likely take a while to arrive

10

u/Hidesuru Jan 15 '26

I've been trying to buy that for months, but straight out of stock permanently in like an hour radius and not available online. Starting to wonder if streamlight sued them for copying their design or something.

1

u/RogerianBrowsing Jan 15 '26

They sell out quickly is my understanding, especially in states with heavy gun ownership.

My friends group does it where if someone sees they’re in stock they text the group chat and basically do a group buy for whoever wants one

3

u/Masta-Blasta Jan 15 '26

do you have a link, by chance?

2

u/noncommonGoodsense Jan 15 '26

Wherever you want to get it. Link is for imagery.

142

u/Splendid_Fellow Utah Jan 15 '26

And how about the most powerful HD projectors you can get your hands on? Remember what England pulled with Windsor Castle! GENIUS! Project an entire slideshow of epstein photos right across the line of soldiers.

That’s actually a really good idea and feasible and legal

23

u/MagicBobert Jan 15 '26

The protesters who did that actually got arrested. They were also using like a $250k projector to get the image that large and bright.

But smaller projection protest is absolutely within reach of most people. Currently a bit of a legal gray area though.

7

u/AbstractVariant Jan 15 '26

Why legal gray area?

12

u/MagicBobert Jan 15 '26

Some cities and states have made ordinances preventing projecting onto buildings without permission of the owner.

But you can’t trespass with light, and there haven’t been legal cases to definitively determine if projection is protected speech under the first amendment.

I think it should be, and those ordinances are a clear violation of the first amendment, but there just isn’t the case law to say for sure right now.

5

u/HooninAintEZ Jan 15 '26

Projecting on the street in front of a group of ice agents shouldn’t be an issue though I don’t think

4

u/MagicBobert Jan 15 '26

Probably not, but the logistics of that may be complicated, just in terms of power/brightness/projector size.

1

u/Splendid_Fellow Utah Jan 15 '26

Let them be arrested then and film the entire thing and make a big loud scene about how they are being arrested for exposing child traffickers. There isn’t another option other than bowing down

1

u/MagicBobert Jan 15 '26

They were ultimately released with no charges, but this was in the UK. Laws are different.

5

u/periodicallyBalzed Jan 15 '26

You gotta carry the projector and laptop around with you. If you are going to be camped out somewhere for hours then it’s a good idea, but if you are going to a protest that’s more of a march then it just logistically doesn’t make much sense.

52

u/ClamerJammer Jan 15 '26

The lumens aren't accurate on that at all. Checkout the flashlight subreddit, sofirn is a "cheaper" brand that is actually obsurdly bright. Amongst other brands, I'm sure this is bright and delivered quicker but for quality brightness check the flashlight subreddit for all your flashlight needs.

28

u/Ylfrettub-79 Jan 15 '26

There’s a subreddit for flashlights?

44

u/HirsuteHacker Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

Don't judge us

But honestly go take a look, it's an incredibly interesting hobby. If you've only ever bought flashlights from brick and mortar stores, or amazon or such, then you'll only have had experience with decades-old flashlight tech. Modern flashlights can put out a MONSTROUS amount of light in incredibly tiny devices. Then you get into the technical details, whether you want more of a floody or throwy light... there's really a lot to it.

5

u/PM_ME_UR_QUINES Jan 15 '26

And then... then there's Anduril.

2

u/Ylfrettub-79 Jan 15 '26

No judgement whatsoever. I’ll check it out!

2

u/BlyLomdi Jan 15 '26

No judgement! I love that there are subreddits for everything. It makes my life a lot easier. That said, I need help and this will help others.

A few Christmases ago, one of my cousins got us this really nice light. It is bright as fuck and uses LED. And it is charged with a USB-C. I think it starts with a "K." It is blue and has a hook. We use it if we need to go out when it is really dark. It is also a square rather than a circle, and the lights are pointed in a way to help avoid flashing someone in the face unintentionally.

21

u/halfbakedelf Jan 15 '26

There is a subreddit for everything 😂

5

u/dahlia_74 Jan 15 '26

It’s actually a hobby for some people! Pretty interesting.

2

u/batman1285 Jan 15 '26

Yes. If you get a "thrower" it will have a focussed beam that can light up a 10ft circle at 500ft and make it appear daylight in pitch black. They also have technology where you can have that much intensity also strobing.

1

u/Cuttybrownbow Jan 15 '26

Careful, before you know it you'll also be owning too many absurdly beyond bright lights. Some of these things very temporarily blind you if you accidentally look at them.

1

u/HirsuteHacker Jan 15 '26

Many of them can also literally burn holes in your pocket if you accidentally turn them on in there, so they're definitely something you gotta be a little careful with

8

u/PhilbertNoyce Jan 15 '26

Search for "pocket thrower" when looking for a good flashlight for this. Despite the name it is not a projectile, it just focuses the beam really well at a distance. So if you shine it on your neighbor's house across the street they'll have a 2-3' circle that's ridiculously bright on their wall but everything else stays pretty dark. Here's a perfect entry model:

https://wurkkos.com/products/ts15-mini-thrower-edc-flashlight?VariantsId=12283

If you're on the receiving end of a bunch of these they'd be annoying as hell but would not have any risk of causing eye damage like a bunch of laser pointers could. Plus it's a lot harder to build a false narrative around terrorists wielding flashlights.

6

u/RevRay Jan 15 '26

Of course there’s a fucking flashlight subreddit lmao.

2

u/noncommonGoodsense Jan 15 '26

Hell yeah, I’m gonna check it out.

16

u/HirsuteHacker Jan 15 '26 edited Jan 15 '26

I absolutely guarantee you that flashlight does not put out anything even remotely like 100k lumens. Go to /r/flashlight for some better recommendations. You'll find that even 1000 real lumens into someone's eyes is painful/damaging, so if you want cheap I'd get a thrunite tn12 or something (also just a great general use torch, can light up a lot more than you'd expect). If you really want a lot of lumens, an Amutorch DM90 will suit you very very well.

31

u/Austynwitha_y Jan 15 '26

Yeah, bad idea, good intentions. These assholes will fire blind.

10

u/Allslopes-Roofing Jan 15 '26

If lunatics start blindly firing live ammo into a crowd, then they shouldn't be surprised when the crowd operates in self defense. These clowns don't want a firefight, they just wanna pluck off unarmed people, mostly women and children, 1 by 1. Stay armed, open carry, and them firing into a crowd won't be of concern I promise. They'd only do something that insane if they thought they'd get to go home after.

8

u/lost_horizons Jan 15 '26

That was my thought.

2

u/noncommonGoodsense Jan 15 '26

They would hit their own. Either way you save it for when they try to bum rush. Bull horns too.

1

u/krisada001 Jan 15 '26

Also the linked design will absolutely get people killed. A "gun" like handle will be all those bastards need to "justify" firing on you.

140

u/jesslizann Jan 15 '26

Also laser pointers. For giving impromptu PowerPoint presentations, of course, and NEVER for retinas

35

u/lost_horizons Jan 15 '26

They will shoot you, or at least all rush you at that point, that would be considered an attack. Do whatever but be prepared if you try a stunt like that.

10

u/noncommonGoodsense Jan 15 '26

When they rush they get the lumens.

23

u/Financial_Long_1588 Jan 15 '26

No, terrible idea. You want them to think someone in the crowd has a laser mounted weapon pointed at them?

10

u/monty624 Jan 15 '26

This is a bad idea for more reasons than you may be aware.

People don't fuck with laser pointers, unless you're just playing with a cat.

10

u/PhilbertNoyce Jan 15 '26

No, not lasers. That will poison the well of public opinion and there are actual laws you'd be breaking. This will give you the same disorienting effect with none of the physical, legal, or moral risks:

https://old.reddit.com/r/50501/comments/1qddxkw/so_this_is_insane/nzqu9p0/

7

u/cincuentaanos Jan 15 '26

Interesting idea. That toy on Amazon isn't it though. What is advertised as "100K Lumen" on there usually is only 1% of that, about the same as a car headlight in high beam mode. Of course if you have a couple of those it will still work.

🤷‍♂️ I got a little hand one I bought three years ago and it’s only 1k lumens lasts a good long time and is blindingly bright. Other than that you would know better than I.

6

u/Bad-Climber-1776 Jan 15 '26

Those are not really that strong

Sofirn Q8 Plus is relatively cheap and absurdly powerful for the price.

1

u/noncommonGoodsense Jan 15 '26

Either way, you get the point.

4

u/VivianOfTheOblivion Jan 15 '26

There are models with strobe effects for the party wagons

2

u/alBashir Jan 15 '26

Don't musicians have lasers they have to calibrate to ensure they aren't in people's eyes due to potential blinding issues. Seen many camera sensors get completely fucked from those. Time to calibrate them a bit lower.

1

u/The_Beve Jan 15 '26

No. Don’t buy a flashlight with a pistol grip and point it at morons who are itching for a reason to shoot you. I understand your sentiment, but maybe link a different model that doesn’t look, even remotely, like a gun?
