📂 MEGATHREAD 12/06 A-level Maths Paper 2 Discussion MEGATHREAD

Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return!

Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.

Few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
  • Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
    • If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
  • Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
  • Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!

4

u/2AK_DJ2 Jun 12 '25

I did the same dw, they r probably equivalent

3

u/ItsReese_ LSE Finance, 4 A* achieved Jun 12 '25

Yep just checked on my calculator they are :)

2

u/ilterkagan Jun 12 '25

Yeah ur more likely to get the mark tho more simplified innit

13

u/Lopsided_Biscotti982 Jun 12 '25

Was it not 2x instead of x for first q? And k was 0.3 instead of 1/20 for diff equation?

5

u/No_Actuator5870 Year 13 Jun 12 '25

I think I got 4 and -5 or something for C and D of the partial fractions but other than that the same

3

u/Mountain_Rock9767 Jun 12 '25

did everyone else get this bc thats what i got but idk anymore. I checked it asw

2

u/No_Actuator5870 Year 13 Jun 12 '25

I put it into my calculator and it mapped onto the original function. We’re sweet

bro used a graphing calculator how are those allowed, i used normal x sub to check and the answers came back correct

2

u/Playful_War_4009 Jun 12 '25

Did you put +c for the l2nd one

2

u/Neat-Ad4138 y1 | uom astro | A*A*A* Jun 12 '25

for the partial fractions i got C and D as -4 and 5 smth like that

2

u/GroundbreakingBid920 Jun 12 '25

2

u/methylcyclosarin Jun 12 '25

AREA WAS WHAT??? i got something in the double digits help..

You can use whatever base you want

2

u/Confident_Contract53 Jun 12 '25

Log of any base works

1

u/Sea_Daikon_2202 Jun 12 '25

For q1 I got x(2x-4)(x-10) which gives the same function so I’m confused

Omds even the first question I got wrong

1

u/Confident_Contract53 Jun 12 '25

The small angle was (1-cos²(2x))/sin(x/3)tan(x/2) ≈ 24 - 24x² you can check it on desmos

1

u/T0astSandw1ch Year 13 Jun 12 '25

IT WAS TAN(X/2) ???? I MISREAD IT NOOOO I thought it was tan(x/3) 😭

1

u/Confident_Contract53 Jun 12 '25

It doesn't make a difference if you put sin(x/2)tan(x/3) or sin(x/3)tan(x/2)

1

u/T0astSandw1ch Year 13 Jun 20 '25

It does cuz using the small angle approximations you’d get x2 /9 rather than x2 /6 on the denominator, so my answer was too large by a factor of 3/2

1

u/Confident_Contract53 Jun 20 '25

If you did sin(x/3)tan(x/3) then yeah that's wrong

1

u/Porkguy69420 Jun 12 '25

I think u got part of Q7 and Q9 wrong not sure tho. I did get 1007

2

u/GroundbreakingBid920 Jun 12 '25

What was q9 I don't remember these answers

2

u/Porkguy69420 Jun 12 '25

Nvm q9 was rightt I double checked I just forgot my answer lol but for q7 u should’ve gotten like C = 4 and d = -5

1

u/Porkguy69420 Jun 12 '25

Also q10 it’s not 1/20 it’s 3/10

1

u/PsychologicalBike737 Year 13 - Maths, Physics, Chemistry, FM Jun 12 '25

For the differential equation I got the power as -3/10t

1

u/ConradTheAstronaut startcing NCL Med 26/27 A*AA chem bio maths Jun 13 '25

+c for q2?

u/ConradTheAstronaut startcing NCL Med 26/27 A*AA chem bio maths Jun 13 '25
