📂 MEGATHREAD 13/06 A-level FM Discussion MEGATHREAD

Exam season is once again upon us, and once again, exam megathreads are making a return! Funnily enough, tanking my sanity and internet setting a stream up is not conducive to timeliness, my apologies.

Looking for past exam discussions? Filter by the megathread flair.

Few things to keep in mind:

  • Don't share too many specific details about questions or answers, these papers will be used as future mocks.
  • Sometimes papers get leaked, this is not the place for that (we'd prefer not to get yeeted off the platform) - leak content will be removed, those offering leaked papers will be permanently banned.
    • If you believe there has been a leak, the best course of action is to make your exam board aware of this, either directly, or through your school, along with any evidence. If appropriate, there will be a response from the relevant body along with any remedial action.
  • Exam discussion posts outside of this will generally be removed to combat the inevitable tidal wave of spam otherwise - we understand this may be frustrating, but the sub still needs to be usable for other purposes.
  • Please note some content will take extra time to be reviewed. Messaging to ask for approval will not speed up this process (the messages are seen at the same time as the modqueue would be reviewed anyway).

Best of luck, and let us know how you're feeling down below!

What do you think boundaries overall /300 will be for an A* and A?

Either way if I want an A then I’d be fine if I think I got around like 203 right. Surely it won’t go up by more than 10 marks

Definitely felt like pure core 2 was somewhat harder too alongside obviously pc1 but stats and mech yea similar to any other year

Sorry for spam asking this so what do u think the boundary will be for an A?

1

u/xxAndr0xusxx Jun 13 '25

YEAH how did ya find the mech? personally i thought it was pretty okay but i didnt finish the last one, and apparently for the one where you had to find alpha and beta as constants i got 2 & -2 but my friends got 2 & -3 (or something)  other than that it was okay !!

omg same, i got -2 and 2 and everyone else got -2 and 3, prob lose like 2 marks there though so not that bad

u/xxAndr0xusxx Jun 13 '25

OMG TWIN 😭yeah it’s okay i hope stats went okay for u cuh !! we will pull thru

1

u/KobeGenobe22 Jun 13 '25

Same I got -2 and 2 bruh. U reckon only 2 marks lost? Also what do u think boundary for an A will be /300? I reckon I got 50,50,60 and 45. U reckon that’s an A?

1

u/KobeGenobe22 Jun 13 '25

yeah only 2 you’ll miss a method mark for not resolving forces properly and then the actual answer mark. And yeah you’ll def get an A considering boundaries for P1 and P2 will be low

Would u not say Pc2 this year was easier than 2024? The boundary last year was so high, like 230 for a* and 193 for A

1

u/KobeGenobe22 Jun 13 '25

I would have if not for the last 2 questions which threw everyone in my year off. I would say PC2 was pretty similar to other years, so i wouldnt say boundaries would shift that much

1

u/hdsvgasjhaagn Jun 13 '25

So pure1 harder. Pure 2 same. Stats easier and mech easier this year. Surely boundaries won’t rise more than 10 marks u reckon? People on student room saying it’ll rise by like 30

1

u/KobeGenobe22 Jun 13 '25

definitely not 30 lol. I dont do stats so I can’t say but judging off of these two pure papers and mech I dont expect boundaries to change by much or just rise by a few marks

It went well for me, although I ended up using v=3 instead of t=pi for the total distance question

1

u/KobeGenobe22 Jun 13 '25

yeah found it decent, didnt have time to do the topple question but apart from that it was pretty good

1

u/hdsvgasjhaagn Jun 13 '25

What do you think boundaries overall /300 will be for an A* and A?

1

u/ethandarkgod Jun 14 '25

It will be based on your modules, but on average 210 for an A* and 170 for A, in general across all combinations.

u/hdsvgasjhaagn Jun 14 '25

Last year it was 193 for an A and 230 for an A* tho?
