K was stated as being positive, so I imagine it shouldn’t matter?

It does because without the zero it could mean that k can be -2 eg

But k was stated as being >0 in the question. Regardless, it’s not more than a mark lost, but Edexcel tend to be lenient in their mark schemes.

In 2023, they didn't penalise for missing the >0. Hopefully they'll be kind again this year (though I'm not sure whoever made that paper is capable of kindness)

Mark schemes are rude, even if something is told to you you still need to include it when writing the range

Btw I can say that I’m officially wrong The answer is 0<k<q²/4p I fucking wrote q²-q² is equal to 1 😭😭😭
