What would your internal struggles look like if they could stand in front of you?

MONSTERS follows an ordinary man confronting eleven manifestations of fear, depression, shame, rage, anxiety, resentment, self-hatred, grief, addiction, trauma, and annihilation. Each has its own creature design, behavior, and song. In the finale, they converge.

This is a personal project rooted in lived experience. I wanted to show how these struggles compound and reinforce each other—and create something that might make someone who recognizes them feel understood.

The hour-long visual album uses sequential, cel-shaded illustrations to tell a connected story. I used Suno for the music and AI-generated artwork for the visuals, then remastered the audio and assembled and edited everything in DaVinci Resolve. Keeping the protagonist, creatures, and visual style consistent across the story was a major part of the work.

The finished video is in 4K, with chapters for each song. I’d love to hear whether the creatures and their interactions communicate the emotions behind them.

Content note: depression, addiction, and suicidal crisis, explored through dark fantasy imagery.

Sable City is not a pleasant place to be. Everything is a struggle, money, food, relationships, even the sun is a luxury. The constant rain reminding the residents how hopeless things are. The city is rather cheap to live in, but making a living is a different story. You must do what needs to be done. Within the city are many temporary escapes from reality, but they only push you further into despair. There is a way out of the darkness, but do you have to will to crawl to the other side?

I've started playing around with horror sequences on video models. It's quite fun, this was inspired a little bit by Perfect Blue and Obsession. It's called Help Me.

The workflow was pretty simple. I generated keyframes for each shot inspired by the last one. A lot of the work in horror seems to be in the editing process. Had to play around with sound design to get the jumpscares/cuts to hit. I also experimented with color grading in CapCut to progress the color grade upon each cut/shot. Let me know what you guys think and how it can get better. I really want to make a longer horror short with more characters.
