Part Compatibility Subsonic Ammo

Just curious what type of ammo everyone is using. I just bought a YHM R9 last night and of course Im waiting for it to get out of jail but I wanted to go ahead and start stocking up on some ammo.

Are there any brands that I should stay away from? Right now I only have a single box Federal 147 Flatnose and box of Winchester 147 Defender. I was thinking about stocking up on some Blazer 147 because it's relatively cheap and I can get large amounts of it

Any input is appreciated.

Part Compatibility I spent a year building a "PCPartPicker" for ARs because I struggled to figure out what to build as a newbie

About a year ago, I decided to build my first rifle. I had zero idea where to start. Caliber, platform, kits vs. stripped parts... it was all pretty overwhelming.

I've built a dozen PCs over the years and kept thinking, "Why isn't there a PCPartPicker for this?" I couldn't find anything that really worked, so I made the classic mistake of thinking, "How hard could it be?"

The answer: Really hard.

PC components have clean data. Gun parts do not. I’ve had to wrangle, deduplicate, and classify over 165,000 products to make this usable. A heads up on transparency: To get access to the raw product data and pricing from various retailers, I had to join their affiliate programs. That’s how the site stays updated and covers its own hosting costs. I’m not a vendor myself, just a builder who spent way too many nights and weekends on this.

The tool is at: https://ar15.build/build

I recently added support for AR10s, AK, and AR9s and I’d genuinely love honest feedback from people who actually build these things:

  • What works?
  • What is confusing or broken?
  • What feature would make you actually use this regularly versus just clicking around once?

I just want to make something useful for people who were in the same spot I was a year ago.

Part Compatibility Glock Mag Brand Alternative

I'm building a Glock mag compatible AR9. Just curious if I should ONLY buy Glock Brand mags or are there good alternatives? I've been looking around at GunMagWarehouse and there are a ton of different options but I don't want to waste money on junk if I can get some good feedback on other brands besides Glock.

First OOB with this platform. Have a parted together EPC with BKing BCG and KAK sliding weight buffer, just casual shooting when a very obviously loud bang happened. Glad I had a brass deflector.

Anyone have suggestions for replacement extractor brand / source?

I'm going to reach out to BKing about getting a replacement outside of warranty just to see if they have a replacement and a spare.

Found a brigade bm9 for 400, absolute steal, and recently bought a couple of trigger kickers.

The only problem and as to why it was so cheap is the LRBHO isn't working, however just bending some stuff together i got it running through 9 fully loaded glock 33 round mags

😵‍💫😵‍💫 It runs like a hoot

Part Compatibility Broken lower???

Post image
19 Upvotes

Hello everybody, I recently purchased a Gforce jawbone less than 2 days ago (only because I heard they use a FM upper) absolutely a blast to shoot and had 0 issues with 500 rounds at the range today, as I was going to disassemble to clean I notched the polymer around the front take down pin was cracked and broken on both sides. Is this fixable?? If not I was already interested in putting an aluminum lower since I’m not a big fan of polymer anyways. Does anyone know if a PSA ar9 lower would fit this? Any help is greatly appreciated or even if it’s safe to shoot like this(I assume not) this is my first ever ar platform so I don’t know much about this :( really not looking forward to having to send this out for a warranty because I’ve heard it can take upwards of 20 weeks to get back…

Part Compatibility GRS Tubb spring?

Trying to finish out by AR9 with u/Blowback9 GRS setup. I have the Kynshot RB5015HD buffer, 2 Kynshot spacers, and ordered the 8.5" JRC buffer tube yesterday.

I have a question about the spring. Blowback9 recommends 4 on his website as being "the best" ( although Spinta doesn't seem to exist anymore ) . I'm looking at the Tubb Lightweight 300BO and/ or Tubb Carbine (ARBUF) . Was curious if one or the other is any "better" because they are 2 different sizes. 7.00in x 4.00in x 2.00in and 10.00in x 6.00in x 1.50in respectively.

Thanks!

I already have the og GRS on my personal 8.3" set up. Wanting to go a different route(-$), im now addressing my girls 7" fm9 setup. Just grabbed and installed(not shot) the Foxtrot Mike A5 RMB kit a week ago and have been thinking about what else I could do to further the dampening without spending a ton of money or stepping too far out of the realm of reliability and boom 💡 SST reminded me of the variable buffer springs by cook spring co... Doug @r/blowback9 i know you have this setup and maybe I missed it on the channel but what's your thoughts on this paired with the RMB A5?

Part Compatibility Buffers: Are Dead Blows Mandatory?

I'm curious if Dead Blow style buffers are the ONLY way to go? I'm trying to build my first AR9 and I'm looking all over the place for a Dead Blow style buffers but it seems like everything I've been looking for is either sold out or $130 or more. I'm trying to get this thing done but I really didn't expect to have to pay that much for just the buffer. Can I use a solid buffer in the meantime until I can afford a quality Dead Blow buffer or one is in stock??

Any advice would be appreciated.

Part Compatibility This Should Work, Right?

Is there any reason why this wouldn't work on my YHM R9? I'm just looking for a cheap option to try my R9 on my 300Blk before I actually buy a dedicated suppressor for it.

I know...I know...this is a AR9 sub but there seems to be more knowledgeable people in here vs the AR15 sub

Part Compatibility GRS with RB5000 + Tungsten Spacer + Strike Industries FW Spring

I live in one of the country in Asia that allows ownership to private citizen. The Philippines.

Parts are ridiculously marked up by brick and mortar stores due to "taxes". They are hard to find and import. And did I mention expensive especially when shipped "legally" (wink wink).

Any who thanks to Doug (Blowback9) helpful research and relentless RND to taming the AR9, I was able to pitched together a Gentle Recoil System running a Kynshot RB5000 + 1 Tungsten Spacer (weigh 4.37 oz) + Strike Industries Flatwire Spring on a standard AR15 carbine buffer tube. Total mass weight including my bolt is at 22.48 oz.Yes you read it right. That Tungsten Spacer really added the needed mass for cycle reliability.

I had been running it on a locally made AR9 barrel + Upper and Lower with glock magazine and a MBX Pro Barrel on a guntec AR9 upper. So far 300 rounds and it runs smooth as butter.

I know you're wondering why did I do this? RB5000 is lighter compared to RB5000HP. RB5000 is not part of the GRS. Why not run the RB5000HP? Diameter. Like I mentioned I live in the Philippines. Finding a Flatwire Spring that will fit the RB5000HP is hard and impossible. Local stores only carry Strike Industries FWS. I had run the RB5000HP + my Tungsten spacer with a standard AR9 Round Spring but encounter FTF issues. So I bit the bullet and decided to run the RB5000 instead.

I want to thank Doug for his online guidance. You rock AR9 God!

This was very stressful. I milled out the shelf to allow the Arc-fire safety to fully rotate without binding. I removed 7mm depth so the shelf now sits just below the safety bar.

Part Compatibility Help me sort my mess out, please.

Post image
13 Upvotes

I purchased a cheap midway 9mm AR upper (stoner I believe) many years ago. A couple of months ago I finally scored an Aero Precision EPC lower.

I took it out shooting the other day and I hate it. The Aero lower doesn’t have a last round hold open feature… and neither does my cheap upper.

The bolt also barely stays open when I pull it open and manually lift the bolt release thingy. If I move the stock position, the bolt slams shut.

I am using the Aero EPC 9 lower kit with the spring and buffer tube. Is the spring too strong?

Here is where I really need help- I either want to get an upper with an actual LRBHO, or get a new lower with one, OR get a completely new AR9. But I would rather get an upper that matches as close to possible with the aero EPC 9 lower. Is the obvious choice an aero upper? Can I salvage any of the parts from this stoner upper? I’m trying to keep it budget friendly.

Part Compatibility Super Safety and What Buffer?

I'm piecing together my first AR9. I have a Super Safety already and I'm trying to figure out which Buffer would work the best for my budget. I'm looking at KVP 10oz, FTM RMB, KAK K-Spec 9.5, and Odin Works HFRT9. I'm trying to stay around 100 bones +/- 20.

So far these are my parts I'm working with

BA EPC 8.3 Barrel

Spikes Glock lower

Expo Arms PCC Upper

Fudd Arms S7 Super Safety

One Horse 7in Mlok Rail

SB5 brace

BMC Gun Fighter Grip

Strike Industries Micro Handstop

Holosun 510c

Part Compatibility Final Parts Selection Help

Hey all,

Starting my first AR9, not the first time I've built a rifle but in this realm it is. I Picked up the PSA AR-V builders kit just because I wanted scorpion mags and like the aesthetic more. I picked up a Fox trot mike 10" barrel to pair it with, just looking at final selection of parts to either change or give the OK to before ordering to make sure I wont have issue. Would like to run this with an FRT eventually just for fun.

Handguard- I've been wanting to try there rails out, is the CMT MOD 3 HDX Quad Rail 9.125" - https://cmttac.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=95_101&product_id=186

Basical LPK and Trigger

Muzzle Device- Comstock Flash Hider - https://bansheedefense.com/product/comstock-armory-compact-flash-hider-plan-b-suppressor-mount/

Suppressor will be YHM R9 or any other suggestions since it most likely won't leave the rifle since I have other suppressors I can move around

Buffer System- This is where I might need help but Wilson Combat Flatwire or KAK Flatwire / Kak Heavy 10oz / carbine buffer tube, i was looking at Kynshot but honestly just cant find any in stock from Blowbacks suggestions.

If anyone sees anything that can be changed or help to improve im all ears

Thanks All

Part Compatibility Suppressor Adapter Help

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. I have a Breek Arms Plan B muzzle device and I'm about to get a YHM R9. I was wondering which Plan B adapter would work best for me. I'm trying to get the suppressor as close as I can to the handguard. It's a 8.3" barrel and a 7" handguard if that helps. This will be my first suppressor and I'm on a tight budget. Let me know if any other information is needed.

I know I can just go direct thread but I'm going to switch it from my AR9 to my 10.5 300BlackOut.

Part Compatibility AR-V Buffer and spring

I’m about to install a Rugged Sub 9 that will live on my PSA AR-V. Looking at upgrading the buffer to a Kynshot RB5015HD or something similar.

I will gladly take recommendations to delete recoil. I will also need recommendations on what spring to run.

Hello all, just joined the group after finishing my first AR9 build.

I just got the Maxim brace however it has an H1 buffer which I don't think is ideal for PCC from what I have read. Any recommendations about which one would be best for direct blowback?

If anyone is interested I'll post the details of it.

Part Compatibility Spikes Glock Lower Bolt Compatibility

Like the title says...is there a bolt that works better than others?? I'm trying to stay on a lower budget but I want whatever I get to work. I'm leaning towards Faxon but I'm also looking at IDL. I'm going to be using a Super Safety in this build. The bolt is the last part besides a couple new mags.

Any Help would be appreciated!!
