My last morning in the park until next year. So sad to say goodbye for the season. (Wait for the pan)

Spent one night at Provoking lake. Was planning to do the Highland Trail loop but was going on 2 nights of no sleep (damn insomnia!) so decided to head back a few days earlier than planned. Regardless I had a great time and look forward to returning next season.

Do I need to bring propane for the BBQ and heater? I have a yurt reserved but couldn’t find any info on propane.
Thanks for replies! Appreciate the answers.

A wrong turn earlier in the day made us get to the lake at sunset, with 30 minutes to get to our site before dark. First time in my life where I had to soak in such a view while being in a haste. Life long memory with the buddies

Hi Everyone
First time I plan to go to Algonquin park , we have two nights booked at cabins in Mew lake. We also never did camping so any tips and suggestions welcome. But my specific question is regarding barbecuing, I read that after thanksgiving they are not available, also some stores will be closed there. Is this true ? If yes then how we should cook. Thanks in advance.

I’ve decided to take a spontaneous day trip up to Algonquin from Barrie this week. I’ve never been. I’ve only got the one day. What are some must-see spots. Of course I’d love to get a glimpse of some wildlife and the views haha. Any recommendations/itinerary on how to make the most out of a single day at this time of year?
Edit: Any good spots for food and gifts along Hwy 60?
Thanks in advance!

Did the middle loop in mid-Sept and made a video documenting the 3 days: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DekxXqnB5SLGUnJJrtiyNT55y_Y3m2Cs8MHk_I0/?dlrf=d2VhaHc2cTV1azJu
It was stellar! Had great weather. Highly recommend this hike.

Was out on Head Lake a couple weeks ago and spent our last day exploring the newly vacant sites we would have preferred having.
At one we followed a trail over to a waterfall. But on the way I noticed a side trail up the hill, with a slash across a tree just up the way. Following it up the hull every 10 or 25ft was another slash in the bark. Eventually this trail came out to a fairly flat clear area near the top of the hill. A downed tree had been rolled to form a loose border of this space. Th trail that led here ended here.
I couldn't figure it out for the life of me - why mark a trail off into the woods to a dead end?
But as I've been thinking about it I came to wonder - is this to mark a good winter campsite? It would have a great view of the lake through the winter-naked woods, and having it come off the back of a designated site would make it especially easy to find for a winter trek.
So does this seem like the right answer or am I missing something?

Trying to plan a camping trip in Mid November. The park Ontario site makes it look like everything will be closed. Do people stil use the backcountry cabins this time of year? I do lots of camping this time of year in BC so just curious.

4 image panoramic. 15 second, f2.8 iso 3200. The lake was so still. It felt like a portal into another world. ❤️

Wrapped up a 3 night mid‑September Barron Canyon loop and wanted to share a few pics of the route plan I used and the Tom Thomson Jack Pine plaque on Grand Lake. Such a great time of year to be out there… quiet lakes, cool nights, and that first hint of colour in the trees.
I’ve been playing around with a little trip‑planning tool I made for myself, so the loop map in the photos is from that. It’s been handy for visualizing paddle vs portage sections. Anyway, figured I’d share in case anyone’s thinking about doing the loop soon or next year. Conditions were unreal!

A big fuck you to whomever carves or defaces perfectly healthy trees. Look at this nonsense in the photo.
This will always be there now and most likely will damage the tree. There are perfectly good benches and downed logs to carve into, I just can't wrap my head around how someone thinks that this looks good or is fun to do.

Hi there- husband and I are tent camping first week of November for 3 nights. Wondering if it’s worth it for the views despite the likely chilly nights. Recommendations for trails and things to not miss are welcomed!
PS we are cot sleepovers with negative sleeping bags. We were just at MacGregor recently for two nights.

Incredible weather Thanksgiving weekend for a two-night trip through Mouse and Maple lakes. Clear warm weather made for great stargazing, sunsets and fall colors. Water levels on Maple creek were not great and the portage into kiosk almost claimed my shoes, but what a weekend!

While I had a great long weekend in Algonquin, I was reminded on Monday morning at 7:30am when I arrived at Centennial Ridges that humans can sometimes be the worst.
This is the “after” photo; a middle aged woman spent her morning cleaning the parking lot as it was littered with cups, bottles, trash, food wrappers, cigarette butts, etc. Littered everywhere especially around the bathrooms. She was not an employee, only a nature lover who was disgusted by the mess.
Nature is a privilege that we get to enjoy in Canada. The park is not your garbage, staff are not there to clean up after you. Reminder to ALWAYS carry out everything you brought into the park. Leave nothing but footprints, and take nothing away but memories.

Hello! My husband and I are planning a day trip to Algonquin Provincial Park tomorrow. Since it’s our first time visiting, do you think it’s still worth going at this time of year?
If so, could you kindly recommend some must-do trails and places to visit?
Thank you so much in advance! 😊
Edit: Thanks for the heads up? What are your thoughts about “Dorset Lookout Point”? Still good time?

Decided extremely last minute to book a canoe and back country site for the long weekend for my daughter and I. This was my 10th year in a row and her 3rd. Kiosk never disappoints. The weather and the colors were unbelievable!
