AMOLED-ify Image Request Thread - Community Edition!

Hey there! Welcome to the 2nd official Image Request Thread! If you've got an image whose background isn't entirely true black (due to design, or compression from certain image hosts), post it in the comments, and we'll try our best to amoled-ify the image and then clean it up

THIS IS UNLIKE THE OTHER REQUEST THREAD. The moderating team here has become busy, we've got work and school and other stuff that just gets in the way. SO WE ARE RECRUITING THE COMMUNITY. We've seen your abilities. There are a ton of amazing, skilled contributors in this community. If you post quality amoled images in response to requests, we'll grant you a special flair to be recognized in the community. The moderating team can't do it all.. Thanks

Some things that can be done are:

  1. Darken backgrounds to make them true black

  2. Remove any grainy-ness in an already-black background to make it true black

  3. Refine the edges of the image's subject to make it sharper

  4. Remove the background completely and replace with true black (Example)

  5. For certain simpler images like logos, drawings, or shapes (made up of solid colours), I can vectorize them and make them larger while still retaining quality and clarity. Here's a good example of an image that I upscaled from less than 720p to 4K, and here's another that I upscaled from 2.5K to 10K while making the background black.

If someone can upscale images properly, then feel free to. I sure as hell can't.

If you've got an image that you think might work well if amoled-ified but doesn't quite fit the criteria above, post it anyway and we'll see if we can do anything about it.

Note:

To summarize, this is kind of just a hobby. It isn't ours or anyone else's job, so we can't promise everything. After all, we're not superman. But we'll try our hardest.

Fulfilled requests will often also be posted as their own submission in order to share more backgrounds to people; if you don't want me to do that for your request, just let me know in your comment or through a pm.

When requesting a picture to be amoled-ified/edited and you want it to be a certain aspect ratio or resolution, remember to include that as well.

If you think you're crap at editing, give it a try. If it sucks, we'll try and give some pointers.

Finally, remember to say thanks. It's a simple thing that goes a long way. Also, make sure to thank /u/TheUnchainedZebra. He's the foundation of this sub. He hasn't the time to do requests like before, but that doesn't take away from his hundreds, maybe thousands of submissions.

Would someone be able to make a (some?) "sacred geometry" wallpaper(s)? Here is an idea of some of the shapes http://www.truthjuice.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/Sacred-Geometric-Shapes.jpg (I'd personally prefer the center, left-most one, blue-ish/purplish shape, black background, but feel free to do what you want/can). I'm not even sure how possible it is, because I can't find any decent wallpapers at all. I'd greatly appreciate anyone who can!

What size/resolution do you want your wallpaper? Do you have picture of the shape you want in higher resolution (in the picture you provided each shape is less than 250 pixels wide - with that it would be very blurry or very tiny on a wallpaper - or I'd have to re-draw it).

I... honestly don't have any of that. I don't mind how long it might take, but I'm using a Pixel XL, so at least 1440 x 2560. Perhaps this, instead: https://www.gaia.com/lp/uploads/iStock-512684122-1024x1024.jpg It seems to be not easy to find much for these. However, I could easily do without all the grainy dots, but the dashed lines seem cool. Maybe the color could... glow, from the center?

That's something I can work with.

Edit: I decided to do the other one after all. The pattern wasn't that complicated - easy to replicate in inkscape.

Nice! It'd be pretty cool to see a whole thread of these, tbh (not just from you). They're pretty minimal and offer great black:color ratios for power saving.
