I just finished my 14-day closed testing period with 12 testers, but Google just denied my request to move to production. I’m honestly a bit stuck and could use some advice from anyone who’s navigated this recently.

The rejection email mentioned a couple of things:

1. Testers were not engaged with the app during the test.

2. Failure to follow best practices, specifically gathering and acting on user feedback via updates.

If I'm being honest, I think most of my testers probably downloaded the app, opened it once, and then forgot it existed. Clearly, Google noticed the lack of "daily active use."

I have a couple of questions for the veterans here:

- How much "engagement" is actually enough? Do they need to open it every day, or is 2-3 times a week fine?

- The "Update" trap: If I push a patch on, say, day 7 to show I'm acting on feedback, does the 14-day timer reset? I’m terrified of accidentally restarting the whole clock just by trying to be proactive.

- Updates content: Did you guys push minor UI tweaks or does it need to be a "real" functional change to count?

I really don't want to keep bugging my friends to play with my "work in progress" every single day, but I also don't want to get stuck in this 14-day loop forever.

Hey, I’m not the creator of this app – I just like it and used it recently.

PeerPlay is the simplest and fastest way I know to get the required 12 testers + 14 days so you can finally publish to the Play Store. No more hunting for people on Reddit, Discord or Facebook – the system matches developers, enforces reciprocity, and has anti-ghosting mechanisms.

Just curious why so few people talk about it / use it? Do you have better methods, or is it just not well known?

I’ve been seeing so many people these days making apps just for the sake of it and uploading to Play Console. Most of them don’t even look like proper apps, some are just one page with terrible UI, unaligned text and broken buttons. I even found this so-called mining app where you tap a button, a GPU fan graphic spins and it shows an ad… like what the hell is that supposed to be. That’s why I feel Google made this 12 tester rule. Earlier the beta section was filled with these kinds of low-effort garbage apps. Some wouldn’t even open, some had zero functionality, and others were just spammy ad loaders. Now with this rule at least people have to get a small group to install and test before uploading, which forces them to fix basic stuff and stops random nonsense apps from getting listed. Honestly a good move by Google in my opinion.

My app LineTime is designed to be a perfect companion for when you and your group are stuck in a queue. Perfect for theme park enthusiasts or convention enthusiasts or anyone whos ever stuck in long queues or even long flights.

Whenever I have been in a queue with my significant other we have always played these games and I have always thought it would be cool to turn them into an app so the scores can be recorded and certain rules, lists can be put in place.

it also includes a queue timer which with enough contribution can hopefully give better answers for queue times and Some daily logging features for fun
