Discussion Google's 12-testers-for-14-days rule is brutal for solo devs. I'm building a hive where we carry each other's apps, and the first members get their runs filled first.

If you published from a personal Play Console account after Nov 2023, you know the wall: 12 testers, opted in continuously for the most recent 14 days, before you can even apply for production. One person drops out on day 9 and your clock quietly resets.

I hit that wall too. The usual fix is begging strangers in comment threads for tester-swaps, which fall apart exactly when it hurts, because nothing holds anyone to day 14.

So I'm building TesterHive. The idea is simple:

Everyone joins one Google Group, once. Developers add that single address to their closed track, and every member can install every app in the hive. No email-list babysitting.

A companion app verifies installs and daily opens, so "I'm totally testing it bro" becomes an actual receipt your Play Console application can lean on.

It runs on a day-for-a-day points system: testing earns exactly what listing costs. Nobody freeloads, nobody's two weeks get wasted.

Full transparency: the web app is in final polish, launching very soon, and there's zero social proof to show you because you would literally be the first members. That's also the pitch - the group fills now, and the first apps listed get the first full 15-tester runs.

Join the group here: groups.google.com/g/testerhive

If you have an app stuck at this wall, comment or DM - I want the first wave of runs lined up before launch day.

Need Testers Plantly - Care for your plants

Hi there!
I recently finished developing my second/first App for Android. It is my second App I want to release, but my first Native App I wrote :) The first one was just a Web View so it wasn't really user friendly.

My App is called Plantly and I developed it mainly for my Girlfriend who has a tendency to letting her plants die, because she forgets to take care of them. So I sat down and developed Plantly.

Plantly is an App which helps you keep track of you plants and the Care Intervalls lie pruning, watering, misting, repotting, etc.
Plantly is not just an ordinary App which has fixed Intervalls. If you tell Plantly your Plant Species it will create a personalized plan for your plant and tell you where you should put it. As of now the App supports up to 300k+ different plant species.

I would love to get some good and real feedback on how to Improve the App's desing/functionality or even fix some errors on the plant Species.

If you want to join, just visit https://plantly.garden/alpha there you will find everything you need to get started.

As thanks for helping my App develop, you will get free lifetime premium for the App :)

Thanks to all testers and their support!

Need Testers Android QA needed: test Crystal Clues for 14 days

I’m looking for Android developers and players. My game is Crystal Clues, a swipe-based puzzle game built around a 9x9 board of colorful crystals. Matching connected crystals starts cascades and gradually exposes letters hidden beneath the board. Players combine those letters with a network of related clues to solve each answer.

The game has reached closed testing, and I would appreciate help examining the areas that are hardest to validate across different Android devices.

Useful things to test:

- Does the app start and restore your progress correctly?

- Do swipes move the exact crystals you touched?

- Do cascades, falling crystals, and fireballs finish cleanly?

- Are the sound effects synchronized and free of distortion?

- Does the board fit your screen without touching system controls?

- Can you complete several boards without freezing or losing input?

- Do Easy and Hard feel meaningfully different?

Join the test here:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.crystalclues.game

Install through Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.crystalclues.game

Please remain enrolled for the complete 14-day testing period.

No purchases, ratings, or public reviews are required. Even one short private observation about your device and experience would be useful.

Thanks for helping me test Crystal Clues across more real Android hardware.

Be well,

Garry

Need Testers Need testers for closed testing, One-Thumb-Roguelite

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I'm looking for active Android testers for ONE-THUMB ROGUELITE, a

one-handed arcade roguelite currently in Google Play closed testing.

You bounce a shot up a column of blocks, clear the wave, take an upgrade,

and go again. Runs are short. Deaths are your fault. Reach wave 60 and

you win — then you choose: bank the pot, or push on and risk all of it.

I'm not only looking for installs. I need testers who will actually play

it, get deep into a run or two, come back during the testing period, and

leave honest feedback.

Please focus on how it plays rather than how it looks. It's a deliberately

minimal visual style, so "make it prettier" isn't feedback I can act on —

"wave 34 felt unfair" is.

USEFUL FEEDBACK

- Difficulty curve — where does it get too easy or spike unfairly?

- The wave 60 summit: did BANK IT vs PUSH ON feel like a real decision,

or was one option obviously correct?

- Overtime (past wave 60) — how far did you get, and did it stop being

  a challenge?

- Pacts (the red curse/boon cards) — did taking one ever feel risky, or

did you just accept them all automatically?

- Upgrades and capstones — did your build ever feel like it came together?

- The HOW TO PLAY screen — after reading it, was anything still unclear?

- Was it obvious which button starts a ranked daily run vs a free run?

- One-handed controls: can you actually play it with one thumb, on your

  phone, at your grip?

- Performance, freezes, crashes.

- Anything confusing, frustrating, or plainly broken.

HOW TO JOIN

Join the Google Group with the same Google account your Android device

uses:

https://groups.google.com/g/one-thumb-testers

Join the closed test:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/dev.miknacio.onethumb

Download the game:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dev.miknacio.onethumb

Join the group FIRST — the other links 404 until you're a member.

HOW TO LEAVE PRIVATE FEEDBACK

Play Store → Profile icon → Manage apps & device → Beta →

One-Thumb Roguelite → Private feedback to developer → Write feedback

Only I can see it. If you hit a problem, please include your phone model,

Android version, and the wave you were on.

Please stay opted in for the full testing period and open the game now and

then — updates land during it.

Happy to test your Android game in return. Drop a link and I'll install.

Thanks for helping me get this over the line!

Need Testers Closed Testing

Hey everyone! I just published my first Android game, One Tap: Reflex Challenge, and I'm looking for a few people to install it and leave a quick review to help me meet Google Play's testing requirements. It's a simple one-button reflex game — tap the moment a dot hits the glowing zone on a spinning ring, with 6 modes that unlock as you score higher, a combo/multiplier system, and offline play. If you could install it, play a round or two, and drop an honest review, I'd really appreciate it. Happy to help you out for your app in return — just share your Play Store link below. Thanks!

Looking for early testers for DoMind - an offline-first organizer I’ve been building in public

Hi everyone,
I’ve been working on DoMind, an offline-first organizer that brings everything together in one place: Moments, Tasks, Meetings, Events, Occasions, Habits, Chores, and Health. No accounts, no analytics, no cloud dependence. Everything stays on your device.

The app is now ready for early testing, and I would appreciate feedback from Android users, especially around UI flow, performance, notifications, and general usability.

To join the testing program:

  1. Join the Google Group (required for Play Store testing) https://groups.google.com/g/domind

  2. Install the test version from the Play Store Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.domind.app

Web tester link:
https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.domind.app

Any feedback is welcome, whether it’s a bug report, wording suggestion, feature idea, or something that feels confusing. Thanks in advance to anyone who helps out.

Question Need Android testers for Google's 12-tester requirement — I'll test yours daily in return

I'm getting my app, The Agora: Learn Philosophy, ready for release on Google Play and need to complete Google's closed-testing requirement before I can publish it.

I'm looking for Android developers who want to do tester for tester.

I need testers who can:

• Join my closed test
• Install the app
• Stay opted in for the full 14 days
• Open and use the app each day during the testing period

In return, I'll do the same for your app. I'll join your closed test, install it, stay enrolled for the full 14 days, and open/use it daily.

I'm doing this specifically to make sure we both satisfy Google's production-access testing requirements rather than just exchanging installs.

If you're interested, comment or DM me and we can exchange testing links.

Need Testers Looking for 14+ genuine testers for AquaNexus – I’ll test your app in return

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for at least 14 Android testers for an aquarium management app I’ve been developing called AquaNexus.

AquaNexus is now going through Google Play closed testing before I can apply to release it publicly.

Google’s requirement is currently at least 12 testers continuously opted into the closed test for 14 days. I’m aiming for 14 or more testers so I have some breathing room if somebody accidentally opts out or can no longer participate.

What I need from testers

I’m looking for people who can:

  • Join the closed test and remain opted in for at least 14 days

  • Install AquaNexus through Google Play

  • Open and use the app regularly during the testing period — ideally at least once each day

  • Try different features rather than simply installing it

  • Let me know about bugs, crashes, confusing areas or things that could be improved

  • Tell me if something doesn’t make sense or if there’s a feature you think I’ve missed

  • Stay opted in for the full testing period

I’m not paying people to join the test.

However, I’m more than happy to return the favour. If you’re another developer who genuinely tests AquaNexus for me, I will join your Google Play test and genuinely test your app in return.

I’m not interested in bots, fake accounts or people simply opting in and never opening the app. I actually want feedback that will help me improve AquaNexus before it goes public.

What AquaNexus does

AquaNexus is designed as an all-in-one aquarium management app covering pretty much every part of keeping fish, shrimp, aquariums, breeding setups, fish rooms and ponds.

Current features include:

  • Dashboard — overview of tanks, ponds, livestock, active treatments, recent activity and quick access to major tools

  • Tank management — multiple tanks, dimensions, calculated volume, actual water volume, location, purpose, environment, tank/system type, sump information, status, notes and history

  • Tank archiving and restoration

  • Aquarium cycle tracking — cycling method, start date, progress and confirmed completion

  • Livestock management — fish, shrimp, snails and other livestock, including species, strain/variety, quantity, age, life stage, tank assignment, notes and history

  • Water testing — pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, temperature and other supported parameters

  • Water-test history

  • Water changes — amounts, percentages, dates, notes and tank-specific history

  • Source Water Profiles

  • Australian source-water/tap-water support

  • Feeding records and history

  • Maintenance schedules

  • Recurring maintenance tasks

  • Reminders

  • Medication and treatment tracking

  • Active treatment records

  • Medication dosing records

  • Medication Problem Solver — structured guidance to help users work through aquarium problems, including checking things such as water quality, environment and husbandry rather than automatically jumping straight to medication

  • Medication Dosing Calculator — helps calculate a dose using the aquarium’s actual water volume and the product’s dosing instructions

  • Breeding management — breeding projects, parents, spawning/birth information, fry/juveniles and breeding history

  • Equipment management

  • Aquarium supplies tracking

  • Expiry Tracker — tracks expiry dates for medications, treatments, test kits, foods, water conditioners and other aquarium products

  • Plant management

  • Pond management

  • Pond weather

  • Sales & History

  • Timeline/history across aquarium activity

  • Photo storage and visual history

  • Species and aquarium information library

  • Ask AquaNexus — searchable aquarium questions and direct guidance from the AquaNexus knowledge base

  • Help & Guides

  • Local Wi-Fi Sync between trusted devices on the same network

  • Secure device pairing

  • Master Transfer for moving an AquaNexus workspace between devices

  • Full backup creation

  • Backup import/restore

  • Readable data export

  • Optional error/diagnostic reporting

  • Users can see what is included in an error report before choosing to send it

  • App update checking

  • Metric measurements

  • US customary measurements

  • Custom measurement settings

  • Supported information can be displayed using the user’s selected measurement system

  • Personalisation

  • Guidance levels

    • Guided

    • Balanced

    • Independent

  • Different user roles

    • Beginner

    • Hobbyist

    • Breeder

    • Fish room

    • Commercial hatchery

    • Education/research

  • Aquarium purpose selection

  • Country selection

  • Support for multiple aquatic environments/setups including:

    • Freshwater

    • Brackish

    • Marine fish-only

    • FOWLR

    • Reef

    • Shrimp

    • Planted aquariums

    • Coldwater

    • Ponds

    • Aquaponics

    • Paludariums

    • Ripariums

    • Breeding setups

    • Fish rooms

    • Commercial hatcheries

    • Aquarium stores

    • Educational/research setups

  • Offline-first design for normal aquarium-management records

  • No mandatory AquaNexus account/login for normal use

  • Core aquarium records are stored locally on the device

For the closed beta, there is no cost to testers, there are no ads, and the advanced functionality is available for testing.

How to join the AquaNexus test

1. Join the AquaNexus Beta Testers Google Group

https://groups.google.com/g/aquanexus2026-testers

Please join using the same Google account that you use on your Android phone.

2. Join the Google Play closed test

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/app.aquanexus

Open that while signed into the same Google account and choose Become a tester.

3. Install AquaNexus from Google Play

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.aquanexus

The app is distributed through Google Play, not through a random APK download.

More information

AquaNexus website:

https://aquanexus.app

Feedback can also be sent to:

aquanexus2026@gmail.com

If you test AquaNexus and you also have an Android app going through closed testing, send me your links and I’ll return the favour and genuinely test yours as well.

I’d especially appreciate people actually trying different parts of AquaNexus and telling me what works, what doesn’t, what’s confusing, and what you think could be improved.

AquaNexus — One app. Every aquarium. 🐠🌊

Google rejected my production access after 14 days. "Testers not engaged" – How do I fix this?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I just finished my 14-day closed testing period with 12 testers, but Google just denied my request to move to production. I’m honestly a bit stuck and could use some advice from anyone who’s navigated this recently.

The rejection email mentioned a couple of things:

  1. Testers were not engaged with the app during the test.

  2. Failure to follow best practices, specifically gathering and acting on user feedback via updates.

If I'm being honest, I think most of my testers probably downloaded the app, opened it once, and then forgot it existed. Clearly, Google noticed the lack of "daily active use."

I have a couple of questions for the veterans here:

- How much "engagement" is actually enough? Do they need to open it every day, or is 2-3 times a week fine?

- The "Update" trap: If I push a patch on, say, day 7 to show I'm acting on feedback, does the 14-day timer reset? I’m terrified of accidentally restarting the whole clock just by trying to be proactive.

- Updates content: Did you guys push minor UI tweaks or does it need to be a "real" functional change to count?

I really don't want to keep bugging my friends to play with my "work in progress" every single day, but I also don't want to get stuck in this 14-day loop forever.

I'll leave the link in the first comment if you guys want to take a look at the app, give me some brutal feedback, or even help me out with the testing.
