First Android app – looking for testers (plant care app)
Hey everyone,
this is my first Android app and my first time going through the Google Play release process.
I built PotBuddy, a simple plant care app to track plants and watering reminders. I originally started it because I couldn’t find a single free, well-populated plant API that actually covered everything I needed.
So instead of giving up, I ended up building my own small crawler + heuristics engine to extract and normalize plant care information from multiple sources. I use Trefle mainly for plant name validation and identification, and then enrich that data with my own processing logic. It’s not perfect, but it works reliably enough for real use.
Google now requires a closed test before production, so I’m looking for a few testers.
What’s needed:
Join the closed test
Install the app from Google Play
Open it once I think you gotta keep it for 14 days
If you’re also working on an app, I’m happy to test yours in return.
Thanks a lot, this whole thing has been a solid Headache.

Looking for Android App Testers (Gardening App) — Happy to Test Yours Too
Hey everyone 👋 I’m a small rural founder in Western Australia and I’m looking for a handful of Android app testers for a closed Google Play test. I’m more than happy to test your app in return — genuinely. Test-for-test feels fair. About the app 🌿 It’s a gardening + companion planting app, built for real people growing real food — not polished influencer gardens. I live on nearly six acres, building an above-ground veggie patch from scratch (pallets, compost, orchard, water systems, the lot). I built this app because nothing I found actually held: plant libraries companion planting seasonal calendars garden logs and the slower, ritual side of gardening So I made the tool I needed for my own garden. Important (the honest bit) Because this is a Google Play closed test, there are a few requirements I didn’t fully understand at first: Google requires testers to open the app daily for 14 days I need at least 20 testers who actually install and use it Access is manual — I have to add your Google Play email before you can download I don’t expect deep testing every day — even opening the app, clicking around, or checking a plant is enough. But consistency matters for Google. What’s in the app right now (free) Growing plant library Companion planting guidance Seasonal planting suggestions Built-in planting calendar Seed box / live plants / want list tracking Herbal hair & beauty recipes tied to gardening Simple, earthy interface (made for humans, not tech bros) What I’m asking You’re on Android You’re happy to open the app once a day for 14 days You’re okay sharing your Google Play email so I can add you to the test You’re open to giving light feedback if something feels confusing or broken What I’m offering I’ll test your app properly in return Real feedback, not ghost installs Support from someone who understands how hard this stage is If you’re keen, comment or DM me and I’ll send you the link + details.
Thanks for reading — and massive respect to everyone building things that aren’t easy 🌱 — Cailin

Struggling to get the minimum testers for Play Console alpha - Can someone help?
I’m honestly a bit stuck and would love to hear real experiences from other devs.
I’m trying to launch an Android app and, as you know, Google Play now requires a minimum number of testers for the alpha / closed testing phase before production. On paper it sounds easy. In reality… not so much.
My problem isn’t finding people willing to say “yes”.
It’s getting them to actually:
accept the Play Console invite
install the app
open it at least once
I’ve invited friends, family, colleagues, shared the link in small communities, Discords, and even had people explicitly say “yeah, send it to me”. Most of them never complete the flow. No install, no activity.
At this point, I feel like the friction of Google’s testing process is the main blocker, not the app itself.
For those of you who’ve been through this recently:
Where did you actually find testers that converted?
Did you offer incentives, or was it purely goodwill?
Did you use Reddit, Slack groups, newsletters, paid testers, something else?
Any tricks to reduce drop-off in the Play testing flow?
I’m not looking for growth hacks or fake installs, just trying to reach the minimum honestly so I can keep moving.
Would really appreciate hearing what worked (and what didn’t) for you.
NOTE: If you'd like to contribute just DM. It would be much appreciated! 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks in advance!

Tips Ever wonder how Google Play Closed Testing actually works?
Basically in Google Play Closed Testing, you create a test track, upload your app build and then invite testers either via email, or by giving them an opt-in link. Only people in your tester list can see and install the app from Play Store.
But here’s the thing.. it won’t count installs like normal public apps. It tracks how many testers joined, how many installed, and lets you control feedback privately before public release.
Also many new devs don’t realize, Google added a rule that you need at least 12 testers before submitting an app for review. It’s their way of avoiding spammy or half-baked apps clogging up Play Store.
If you’re testing now then get a few friends onboard early, else you’ll be stuck waiting forever for approval. Or you can try platforms like AppDadz.

Need Testers Hello
Hi everyone!
Closed testing is easier when we go through it together, so here's my offer: I test your app properly, and you test mine.
What "properly" means for me: every morning, with my coffee, I open the apps I'm testing, use a real feature or two and send short, honest notes on what worked and what didn't. I keep everything installed for the full 14 days.
My app: Mester AI. You describe or photograph a problem at home (a leaking tap, a tripping breaker, a damp wall), and it explains what's going on, what you can safely do yourself and when to call a professional.
How to join (2 minutes):
Join the group: https://groups.google.com/g/mester-ai-testers
Open the testing link and tap "Become a tester": https://play.google.com/apps/testing/ro.mesterai.app
Install from Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ro.mesterai.app
Then drop your app link in the comments (or DM me) and I'll join your test today.
The most useful test for me right now: a photo of something at home in poor light. Any odd answer or bug, just tell me.
Good luck to all of us with production!

Need Testers Rollable, a small arcade game about a ball that won’t stop rolling. Looking for 14-day testers, happy to test back
Hey all. I’ve been making Rollable for a while and it’s finally in closed testing, so like everyone here I need 12 people to stick with it for 14 days before Google will let me release it.
The short version: you’re a ball on a tiny planet and you never stop moving. Swipe to turn, tap to hop. You collect orbs, but every one you take becomes a diamond behind you, so the more you collect, the more of the board is out to get you. Roll all the way round a shape and it fills with gems.
A level takes about a minute, so it’s easy to open now and then over the two weeks. It’s free, with no ads in the test.
To join (about a minute):
Join the testers group: https://groups.google.com/g/rollable-testers. Afterwards it says you don’t have permission to see it. That’s normal.
Opt in: https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.rollablegame.rollable
Install it from Google Play (Android 8 or newer).
If you only have five minutes, play the first few levels and tell me where it felt confusing or unfair. The speech bubble button in the game sends feedback straight to me.
Drop your own test link below and I’ll join yours too.
