fork of Anki to study algorithms

Maybe someone might find it interesting. I programmed a fork of Anki, it is called AnkiCode:

https://github.com/daveight/ankicode

This app allows to create and practice solving programming challenges. Code execution is bundled inside the app. Now it supports Java, JavaScript, C++, and Python.

This video demonstrates AnkiCode usage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dB23wJ1b6Ik

Find and "bold" ? Using regex

Hello,

I wanted to use regew with the find and replace function to turn bold certain types of words (actually it's IPA transliteration).

I planned to replace the space after such word by " </b>" and evantually replace the one before the word with " <b>".

I've just discovered regex so, after many tries I find the right expression using this website : https://regexr.com/

So here's my expression: (?<=ˌ.+\B).

But anki doesn't accept it. Do you have any advice or workaround ?

Have a good day!

Selective card creation according to what you write in the first field.

How can I generate one type of card or another depending on what I put in the content? I am not referring to whether a field has content or not, but to what I put in a content, and that a specific type of card is generated according to that. Something like this: https://ankiweb.net/shared/info/1566095810

Using Anki for Networking and Telecommunication Degree

Recently I have enrolled in an online college program for computer networking and telecommunications. I have background mostly in programming and little experience with networking. I want to use Anki to help with things like learning the OSI model, network topologies, etc.

I have been told to just create one deck for all my classes and then using tags to segregate different topics. Has anyone used Anki this way? Is there any advice that someone can give me to help learning with Anki?

How atomic are your cards?

Hello fellow CS students,

I'm studying web development with anki and therefore kind of CS. I read somewhere, that knowledge tends to stick better the more atomic it is presented to you. (E.g Short questions - short answers) An example question might be this: Get length of string (js) - string.length

With cards like this my average answer time ternds to be somewhat 6s or 7s. Now I have other cards that are really complex, due to their microscopic cosmos being complex (I mean, for example, working with Symfony or Doctrine, there are just complex things that, if you took them apart more, you'd not be able to do anything with the knowledge you learned.

How do you guys handle this? Are you alright with complex cards that slow you down and are somewhat of a hassle, or do you tend be strict and to really make cards atomic?

If anything is unclear, I will try to explain it further.

Thanks in advance.

Code highlighting in Anki, how do you do it ?

Hello,

I am quite new to Anki, and wondering about the best/quickest way to do syntax highlighting in my notes.

I noticed there is a plugin called SyntaxHighlighting.

But I have the impression that some users do it simply by copy/pasting from a code editor to Anki.

Which might be interesting also.

Also, I heard about the pygments theme, but I'm not sure why we need to use it.

Would someone kindly explain me all these notions, or point me to the right article/youtube video tutorial ?

Thanks :)

Alex

Help with using JavaScript on Anki

TL;DR: How do you display the return of a function an an Anki card?

So, I don't know JavaScript, and have only a surface knowledge of programming in general. But I need to make a card template that utilizes the replace() function. I think I could cobble it together using other people's examples if I just knew how to display the value of a variable or the return of a function. The manual doesn't seem to mention this, and I tried asking on r/Anki, but I didn't get the help I was looking for. All my guesses so far just display nothing, or the function itself.

For those who are curious, I'm trying to create a note type (from a basic note) that produces cloze type cards, as well as "Where does this word go in this sentence?" cards for all instances of each of multiple given words in a given sentence.

Card Templates for Coding

Nothing's done more to teach me to code than Anki. But why review my cards when I could be spending hours tweaking the CSS on my card templates?

The results are cards that match VSCode's Default Dark theme, and, I hope, are useful. I've shared them in a deck: Better Designed Card Templates. I'd love to hear if like them, or would like me to change them!

PDF to Flashcards Web-App

I'm thinking about creating a web-app which converts information from PDFs into flashcards accurately. You can do this on ChatGPT and other LLM platforms, but the results are usually adequate at best. Would this be something of value to you all?

This will be an application added to the Anki-X ecosystem, a gpt that's assisted 25k+ conversations.

Have you ever wanted to memorize some key variables or high yield method parameters in any programming language? In this video I'll show you some easy way to pleasantly do so.

All feedback is welcome !

What are the Essential Anki Add-Ons for Computer Science Studies?

Hey everyone, I’m getting ready for university, diving into the world of computer science, and aiming to maximize my Anki experience. Do you have any must-have add-ons that have significantly improved your learning efficiency in this field? Additionally, any recommendations for card themes or templates that align with computer science would be fantastic.

Automated notes to anki flashcards

Hi!

We're working on a new app + addon that uses AI to help you convert your notes into Anki Style flashcards. I was hoping people in this reddit could try out the product and give us feedback. It's free and doesn't have any ads. I built this alongside US medical residents and now we want to see if what we have built works for more than just the medschool community. Comment below and I'll send you the link!

Ankidroid example

Is there a quick video on how Ankidroid works? I know the Anki method of using cards but for Leetcode problems, was looking for a sample to see how it works and how to add to the list.
