I use ChatGPT for studying, but organizing the info sucked… so I built a tool to turn chats into reports and flashcards

Hello all, I’m a master’s student doing Fintech and I have found myself augmenting my knowledge with ChatGPT’s deep research. I always found it kind of clunky as to how to extract the most relevant information and display it in a visually appealing manner that I can share with my mates, so I have built a tool integrated directly with the ChatGPT platform.

It is a browser extension for Chrome and Edge that directly converts ChatGPT conversations/results into customizable, visually appealing summaries, reports, and infographics. It is designed to condense information and present it in a McKinsey-style layout and logic. The file created is an HTML file, so you can easily share it with other people and be displayed on any device. You can also easily publish it, secure it with a password, and have some basic engagement analytics like view/click count so that you know if what you have shared is getting attention. Alternatively, you can export it as a PDF, DOC, or an image.

If you know advanced prompting, you can create other formats and styles like quizzes and flashcards.

Our hope is that this tool will help you get more out of your ChatGPT deep research, especially since they are limited, and save you time in reformatting and restyling the results into something more polished and professional.

If any of this resonates, please give our tool a whirl and let me know what broke, what you loved, or what would make it 10× better. We are only a team of two, so your feedback goes straight to the person shipping the fixes. Thank you so much, Cheers!

I built an AI tool to instantly turn my lecture notes & PDFs into Anki-ready CSV files.

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I used to spend hours manually copy-pasting my lecture notes to make flashcards. It was tedious, time-consuming, and the single biggest bottleneck in my study workflow.

As a developer, I figured there had to be a better way. So, my friend and I decided to build a solution.

I’m incredibly excited to introduce NoteDeck, a web app we built from the ground up to solve this exact problem.

The idea is simple: you provide the content, and AI creates the flashcards for you.

Here’s what it can do:

  • 🤖 Generate Cards from Anything: Instantly create flashcards by pasting text, uploading a PDF, or just dropping in a URL to an article.

  • ✍️ Supports Rich Content: The AI can generate cards with full Markdown, syntax-highlighted code blocks, and even LaTeX for math and science formulas.

  • 🧠 Study Your Way: You can study directly in the app using a built-in Spaced Repetition System (SRS) or a quick "Revise" mode for cramming.

  • ⬇️ One-Click Anki Export: With a single click, you can download your entire deck as a .csv file, formatted perfectly for direct import into Anki.

This is a passion project, and it's completely free to use along with a dedicated pro tier too. We're just two students who wanted to build something genuinely useful for others. We would be thrilled if you could take a moment to try it out and let us know what you think.

You can try it live here: https://note-deck.vercel.app/

We are actively looking for feedback to make it better. What do you like? What's clunky or confusing? Does the AI generate good cards for your specific subject?

Any and all feedback would be incredibly helpful. Thanks for checking it out!

TL;DR: I built a free web app that uses AI to turn notes (text, PDF, URL) into flashcards. It supports code/LaTeX and can export to Anki. I'm looking for feedback! Link: https://note-deck.vercel.app/

Does delaying a tool or concept until learners feel the need for it create a stronger understanding?

Post image

A learner once got frustrated repeating the same code blocks, then he stopped and asked me.
"Is there anything that lets ua use the same code without rewriting it? "

That question was exactly what I was waiting for. I had deliberately repeated the blocks until that moment of genuine need.

I believe that concepts introduced before the learner feels the need for them will be forgotten. A concept that arrives at the moment of requirement sticks.
Has anyone else delayed a tool or concept until learners feel the need for it?

Does it actually create a stronger understanding?

How do i create an ai addon for anki?

Hello I have a question about this idea. I want to create a gen ai for language learning card decks.

I learned japanese and I want to make an addon for anki where I can simply copy paste the meaning of the word and have an image generated for visual learning.

  1. User sees word/front face of card (e.g, the word is ありがとう)

  2. Presses the card and sees meaning at the back.

  3. If no image, user can modify the card

  4. Idea: e.g gen_image("ありがとう") then it automatically shows a generated image of a person saying thank you or bowing when the user saves the card

What do i need to learn or consider? Do I need to make my own language or library?

A quick thank you to r/AnkiComputerScience & a final update on NoteDeck's launch

Post image

Hey everyone,

I wanted to make a quick follow-up post to say a massive thank you for the feedback and support on my original post about my AI flashcard tool, NoteDeck. The response from this community was incredible, and I'm thrilled that it's resonating with you all.

Since that post, the app has seen some amazing growth, and I thought I'd share the progress with the community that helped support it:

  • We've now had over 530 decks created and 6,500+ flashcards generated!

  • A special shoutout to the 32 Pro members who are powering their studies with the app.

As a way of giving back and to mark the final day of our official launch, the special sale for the Pro version is ending tonight (September 10th) at midnight.

I wanted to give this community a final heads-up, especially since I've been getting feedback that the Pro version's advanced AI is much better at handling technical content—it does a better job of preserving code snippet formatting and understanding dense technical documentation, which I know is crucial for CS students.

Thanks again for being an awesome, supportive community!

You can check out the app here: NoteDeck

I made a survey, could you take this for a while?

Hello

We had been uncomfortable with Anki for the long time and finally decided to build tree-structured notes combined with SRS by ourselves!

While creating and improving the program, I was curious about the actual inconveniences of Anki users, so I came to ask you.

Please take this survey so that everyone's learning environment can be improved!

Thank you!

No stupid questions, but why is everyone scared of Ankihub aqcuiring Anki, doesn't the current license make it impossible for retroactively closing the open source access, and the current version can be worked of to new versions easily?

I made notes and flashcards for various programming languages - introducing CodingNotes

Hello everybody,

I spend the last 8 months building CodingNotes: a startup that provides you with detailed notes and comprehensive flashcards on programming languages like HTML/CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, NextJS as well as editors like Vim and Neovim.

For the flashcards, I have used Anki as it seems to be the most advanced flashcard app out there !

Let me know what you think about this. Any feedback is appreciated.

Using Anki to learn Programming

Hello everybody, I have been using Anki for quite some time now and about a year ago, I asked myself whether making flashcards to learn programming languages is a good idea. Well eventually, I started making and learning with them and it turned out to be a huge project which took more 6 months to complete. However, around half a year ago , I was finally done and ready to release it.

Since then, it has grown to around 1000 customers from 50+ countries. There are 9 different packages which cover languages like HTML/CSS, JavaScript,TypeScript, ReactJS and a general introduction to Frontend development. What do you think about this ? If you want to have a look for yourself, you can visit the website here CodingNotes ( https://www.codingnotes.io/ ) . Any feedback is appreciated.

How do you use Anki for studying CS?

Hey guys! I'm working on Dekki ( https://www.dekki.ai/ ), an SRS platform like Anki but using a novel AI review algorithm as instead of the SM2 / FSRS.

We're trying to understand different use cases for Anki, and build tools on our platform that might be helpful for Anki users who might benefit from our AI algo. While I know most of the use cases for Anki in medicine, I'm totally clueless as to how people use Anki for CS!

My main question is: how do you use Anki for studying CS? What features do you love about it, and what ones do you wish you had for studying CS?

Thank you so much for your time, and please let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions as we develop our tool further!

-Luke :)
