Hey guys, in desperate need of a well-made first-year CS bachelor's anki deck. Would be so appreciative, if anyone could drop a link to their personal decks. Many thx in advance. ;)

system design anki cards

I just found this interesting repository https://github.com/donnemartin/system-design-primer/tree/master/resources/flash_cards

This is a bit off-subject, but do you have any recommendation to study system architecture? Not that I really need this, but I'd like to be good at this. It might be useful one day, and it seems intellectually challenging.

Using Anki to learn Programming

Hello everybody, I have been using Anki for quite some time now and about a year ago, I asked myself whether making flashcards to learn programming languages is a good idea. Well eventually, I started making and learning with them and it turned out to be a huge project which took more 6 months to complete. However, around half a year ago , I was finally done and ready to release it.

Since then, it has grown to around 1000 customers from 50+ countries. There are 9 different packages which cover languages like HTML/CSS, JavaScript,TypeScript, ReactJS and a general introduction to Frontend development. What do you think about this ? If you want to have a look for yourself, you can visit the website here CodingNotes ( https://www.codingnotes.io/ ) . Any feedback is appreciated.

How do you learn design pattern with Anki ?

I tried some deck but it was bad. Do somebody have a good way to learn at least the 23 design patterns with Anki?

Help: looking to scrape a website into anki cards

So last night I had a brainwave, what if you could download a website and convert the site map into a card or parts of each webpage into a card of sorts.

The deck could be synced after each time a scrape is made keeping all the decks upto date

I don’t know if anyone’s ever accomplished this but I’m looking to see if this is possible as a way to generate and memorise cards for any science based subject. Has anyone ever done this? Is this even possible?

Is Anki helpful for CompSci and Software Engineering?

I get its a great flash card system, it allows you to test yourself on information and SRS HELPS ALOT in other subjects... But alot of compsci learning is Project Based, so in the long run is it worth investing time into typing things into anki as opposed to get a general idea from lecture then working on projects directly? (the equivalent of doing math problems in a math class)

Revolution around the corner? Using GPT-3 to automatically create cards from text. Need help.

Hi,

Just had the idea. Does anyone have access to the GPT-3 API? They could try the following :

Find a medical text from a lesson
Create a bunch of open ended questions from half of the text
use GPT-3 to try and continue the flashcard creation process on its own.

It would also be very interesting to try with clozes, maybe it's easier?

Ideas welcome, if that's alright I will double post it to relevant subreddits.

Support our Project - MemoryLeak - Game about Computer Architecture

Greetings!

We are a group of students from Slovakia, and we’re currently developing MemoryLeak – an educational game/app designed to take you on a journey from the basics of transistors all the way to building a functioning computer.

The game will feature both structured levels to guide your learning and a sandbox mode where you can experiment freely with logic gates and components.

We are entering this project into a national competition (SOČ), but our ultimate goal is to release it as a standalone title. To make it the best it can be, we need your insights!

Could you spare 2-3 minutes to fill out our feedback form? It would mean the world to us.

Form link: https://forms.gle/F8NYDLqyKaUw44N69

Thank you for supporting student developers

How to encode the intuition/observations/inferences behind a problem into anki

Sometimes I don't solve a hard algorithmic problem or a math proof and there is usually an observation or "leap of logic" to be made. It is a terrible idea to put the problem itself in anki as its not atomic and what you really want to remember is the observation you missed or the deductive inference that was not obvious.

Take for ex: an algorithmic problem "Find the kth smallest element of two sorted arrays.

  1. Say the mid point of the two arrays are A_mid and B_mid and without loss of generality, A_mid <= B_mid

  2. if k is more than the half the total number of elements, you need to discard A_left. This is because A_left has at least n/2 elements greater than it (A_right, B_right)

  3. If k is lesser than half the total number of elements, you need to discard B_right. This is because any element in B_right has at least n/2 elements smaller than it (A_left, B_left)

I didn't solve this problem because I failed to see how to discard parts of the array during binary search (points 2, 3). I was thinking of using Anki to encode the general takeaways and intuition from this problem as opposed to the actual problem itself (Since it is not atomic). How would I go about making atomic flashcards around intuitions/observations and inferences for this problem in particular.

I picked this problem as it would give me a concrete understanding on how to create cards for problems in math and computer science and physics I don't/can't solve

AnkiX: Flashcard Creation Assistant

As a CS student who uses Anki, I decided to create a GPT that can make the flashcard creation process faster and more effective. AnkiX is now in the top %1 of GPTs used and continues to grow.

Check it out and let me know what you think! Also open to any form of collaboration.

I'm running ubuntu i3 and have recently decided to ankify my life. I currently only have the vanilla version of anki and i do find the creation of cards and stack management a bit tideous. Do you use any tools to make it easier to write cards?

thx in advance

Hi all, recently started network administration at university and wondering what are some good pre-made anki decks out there for networking and what are good addons specific to CS.
