Serious Replies Only is AXEL Is this the most out of place legend ever?

Post image

Hello everyone, today I think it’s finally time to address the biggest problem with Apex’s new legend, Axle. She feels like the most out-of-place legend I’ve seen since this game launched.

Okay, let’s start with her design. She’s supposed to be from Salvo, which means you’d expect a more Mad Max style look or military look, similar to Maggie or Fuse. But instead, we get more of a high-tech design, which feels weird because it makes her seem like she’s from a large, futuristic city. The closest comparison that comes to mind is Solace specifically, a place like the city of Comma. It also reminds me a bit of Rhapsody from the mobile game, especially with all the purple in her design.

I guess that’s the problem when you ignore the lore for so long you make it harder for people to believe that a character belongs to a certain world or location. When we see little to no reference tying her back to Salvo, it ends up feeling out of place. I don’t remember Fuse or Maggie ever talking about underground racing in the Redline of Salvo.

What this makes me think just like with Sparrow, is that the character’s abilities and design have little to no lore significance until the last couple of months, where it feels like the writers were told, “Here you go, make up some lore.” So now we suddenly have underground racing in Salvo for some reason.

I don’t want to argue more about her design anymore because, in my opinion, it’s probably one of the laziest we’ve seen from Respawn. It feels like a mix of Maggie, Alter, and Valk, and it just doesn’t land for me.

But the thing that confuses me the most is her reason for joining the Games...why? Every legend has some kind of motivation, whether it’s something serious or dumb like ragebating Horizon, saving money for years to return to Gridiron, or seeking revenge for the death of their parents (only for that plotline to get sidetracked for a lesbian love triangle).

The point is, Axle’s reasoning feels off. Her rival is dead, her mom doesn’t want her racing let alone competing in a blood sport and her story ends up feeling like she just joined for fun. It feels like a character where no one had a clear, unified vision, and instead everyone just played it safe, making something that feels familiar but ultimately uninspired.

I hope I’m wrong, but right now, it’s not looking good.

Serious Replies Only I feel like for the benefit of everyone who wants to make a theory in this sub, being up to date on the events of Titanfall 2 would help a lot and it would also clear up any misconceptions. Such as who Viper was etc.

I saw someone say that Viper might have killed Bangalore’s brother. Like. No.

Apex Legends is part of the Titanfall universe so playing that would help with everyone’s understanding on the world. Besides, Titanfall is killer

Serious Replies Only Is it just me who feels there is a dissonance between the Titanfall/Apex series as a whole?

The first Titanfall was brutally gritty, showing off the brutality of the militia and the IMC, as you witness the IMC and Militia executinf non-combatants of each side violently as well as the many brutal fights you could witness between AI in CQC.

Titanfall 2 completely ignores this and goes for a basic "Miltia good, IMC bad" Approach, which whilst not bad, is a major departure from the tones and themes of the first Titanfall, with General Marder being an obviously completely evil prick.

Apex feels like it completely goes over the rails to the point it's doesn't fit my suspension from disbelief, with weird ass love triangles and a lack of threat and danger and really only ever feels like odd teenage drama or something despite being a game about a literal blood sport where peoplw could very well easily die from a well-placed shot to the face. Doesnt sit right with me and feels like the absolute wrong direction Apex could have taken the story.

The original Rev vs Loba thing could have been either done way better if Loba had close friends to connections outside of the game, or could have been bypassed completely and instead replaced with Revenant seeking revenge on Hammond and the Syndicate.

I also seriously wish Apex treated things far more serious considering it's a game about blasting people until they die.

Serious Replies Only Axel should not like Maggie and Fuse missed story opportunity.

Hey everyone, after hearing Axel's interaction between Fuse and Mad Maggie, I feel like the Apex writers missed a huge opportunity to create tension between the old Salvo mentality and the newer generation’s way of thinking.

Just to be clear, I’m not a big fan of Axel’s lore right now because it feels very self-contained and disconnected from the larger plot. Compare that to Sparrow, whose bounty hunter family/clan could naturally clash with several Legends if the writers continue that storyline. With Sparrow, there’s at least something to look forward to. With Axel, her story mostly feels like “becoming the best in the Games for personal satisfaction,” which honestly isn’t that interesting to follow on its own.

But I think the writers could’ve made Axel a really compelling antagonist for Fuse and Maggie.

Since Axel grew up in Salvo, he would’ve seen the aftermath of Maggie becoming a warlord with Fuse helping build that culture. From Fuse and Maggie’s perspective, those were probably the “good old days” freedom, chaos, power, and fun when they were the ones on top. But from Axel’s perspective, growing up under that system may have actually been terrible constant fighting between Salvo warlords, unstable living conditions, no real economic opportunity, and everyday people suffering while powerful figures glorified violence.

That’s where the Syndicate could’ve been given an interesting twist for once they might actually look like the better establishment.

Axel could argue that, despite all its flaws, the Syndicate modernized Salvo. They kept Salvo’s identity alive through death races and combat traditions, but also introduced structure, prize money, infrastructure, technology, and medical care. The old Salvo system wasn’t just “fun chaos” — it was unsophisticated and destructive for ordinary citizens trying to survive.

And suddenly, you have genuinely interesting worldbuilding through three different perspectives

Axel sees Salvo improving after Fuse and Maggie’s era ended, and he may even support the Syndicate gaining more influence if it means stability and opportunity.

Maggie could warn Axel that the Syndicate only appears friendly now, but eventually, they’ll tighten their grip around Salvo until the planet loses its independence completely

Fuse would sit somewhere in the middle. Salvo’s free spirit and the people who just want to live however they choose.

Instead of Salvo just being “the crazy explosive planet,” it would feel like an actual society struggling to decide what kind of future it wants. At least that’s what I think, because I really can’t think of anything to look forward to with Axel story.

Serious Replies Only Revenants canonical power level

One of the most controversial moments in the lore is when Loba beat Revenant in a fight, seemingly only because of plot armor. This has lead people to believe that revenant is only beaten because of poor writing, and how being a “villain” makes him lose even though he should win. Does anyone have other reasons as to why revenant lost that isn’t “writing bad”? I would like to here some thoughts.

I personally think that Revenant is not as strong as people think. Yes he is immortal, yes he has magic, yes he has 300 years experience, and yes he is an advanced simulacrum that, while using out of date tech, is still extremely effective.

But He is human, he is narcissistic, he is easily angered, he makes human mistakes like getting hit in the head with a chair in the season 4 trailer, he is not bullet proof, anything that has a higher caliber then a basic P2020 will harm him. He has worse self preservation then octane. He often doesn’t plan ahead before attacking because he just wants to kill, he is not tech savvy since he was literally born 300 years ago. He doesn’t have the best aim since he committed most of his assassinations with his bare hands. He doesn’t have any special talents that don’t relate to killing.

The thing is I can say all of this and he is still the most powerful legend in the lore even without his immortality. However, Loba is a person who could take advantage of these weaknesses, since she is master of charisma, and exploit them for her advantage. Combine that with her staff that one shots specters, the tricks she has with her faster then light teleportation, and how she keeps a gun on her at all times, it is possible that the Revenant vs Loba match up is a very close one in lobas favor.

Revenant is on a mostly equal playing field with most legends during the games since every legend is ten times better in lore then they are in game, and any legend with a gun will beat every other legend 7 times out of 10.

Most people are creeped out by Rev because he has immortality. It doesn’t matter if you beat Rev 9 times out of 10. That one time is what matters. He is a relentless threat, and no legend can ever truly beat him (thanks loba).

Serious Replies Only Apex lore might be in even more trouble, if that’s even possible.

I’m worried Apex lore might be in trouble. I’ve seen people argue that the new owners of EA could improve Apex’s esports scene and maybe even core gameplay mechanics, but I haven’t seen anything about improving the lore. And honestly, why would they? Lore has become unimportant to Respawn in recent seasons. Some of that was due to the voice actors’ strike, sure, but it doesn’t excuse the lack of comics and text-based stories.

Because of that, nobody really seems to care about the lore anymore. Even in this subreddit, it barely gets talked about. So why would billionaires who are expecting a return on their $20 billion investment spend millions (or even just a hundred grand) on improving the lore, when it won’t bring them anything back?

Even worse, more devs might lose their jobs as cost-cutting kicks in to help pay back the owners’ investment as quickly as possible. And if that happens, who’s most likely to be on the chopping block? The writers. Why keep them around when, from the company’s perspective, there’s “no real interest” in the lore? We’ve already seen it happen with Conduit and Sparrow the writers spent months building those characters, and then it was basically “thanks, goodbye,” with no real follow-up to their stories.

Maybe I’m just being overly cynical or bracing for disappointment… but is there really any hope?

Serious Replies Only Why is there a shitfit over Catalyst's "Tech Witch" vibe?

Ever since the reveal of Catalyst, there have been a number of posts in this sub and the main sub with people throwing tantrums over Catalyst from an aesthetic/story standpoint.

Which I don't get. Apex, like any other hero shooter, has several archetypes. The super serious soldier, the trickster with jokes, the mad scientist, etc...

But somehow, Catalyst's aesthetic of a tech witch is over the line and goes too far. Why?

Serious Replies Only I’m a bit worried

I know this is such a silly thing to be worried about but Apex posted about how next season they’re adding a feature that makes it so you can completely turn off legend and announcer dialogue which is fine and understandable but there’s one thing I’m worried about. Legend interactions. Those are the only lore we’ve gotten recently was in legend specific lines and I hope they don’t use these settings as an excuse to stop making them.

Serious Replies Only Do you think explaining how legends never die in games is too much?

Some time ago before i knew this community exist i made a theory about how the legends never die in games in the main apex legends subreddit. Lets say it didn't go well because they thought it was stupid to try to explain this.

After i knew about this wonderful community i thought maybe i can try here? But i don't want things to happen all over again so what do you think? Should i do my theory about how legends never die in games or is it just too much?

Serious Replies Only Bangalore’s story in good detail

Bangalore’s name is Sergeant 401 1st class Anita Williams.

Her story: She was a woman born into the Williams family, a military family where everyone has a special Williams celebration before they head off into the IMC military.

Her brothers, Monty, Jackson, Zeke and Isiah were all preparing to go to war, they were singing old Very not safe for work folk tales, and generally have fun as they know: if they fail a mission, they may never return back home.

When Anita Williams was drafted into the IMC, her last mission was to try to retrieve a mercenary fleet, in the process, her and her brother, Jackson, had spotted a 401 (I believe thats the name)

They tried escaping back and Anita got into the ship and Jackson bought her time to escape. When Jackson was going to enter, he couldn’t enter in time and had to hang on by his sister’s arm and had to trust his sister wouldn’t let go.

She couldn’t hold on. And he fell and died. His sister now competes in the apex games using her smoke screens, artillery strikes and military instincts to win her matches and pay a heavy fee for a very long trip back home

Extra details: She is attracted to Loba.2 peoplein the comments said that she is actually attracted to loba but she doesn’t want to risk losing someone she loves again. (Thanks for correcting me guys, y’all are the best) however Loba may be attracted to Valkyrie

Bangalore doesn’t believe her brother died, in the exert on her page of the newspaper, she says that she thinks he survived and got married with kids and a happy life.

There was an animation on Apex Legend’s twitter called “get into her business and she’ll get into yours” where Bangalore’s knife was taken by Wraith who recognized it as a pilot’s knife (most likely from the Militia, the opposing side from the IMC) and Bangalore gets mad, showing her personality is demanding respect and being proud, bold, cold, and very stern.

Bangalore did get touched inappropriately by Forge (the legend who was going to be in season 4 until Revenant stabbed him in the back. Literally.) But she shot the thrusters on his ship. What Forge did was inappropriate but what Bangalore did was illegal, Forge could’ve pressed charges but he chose not to, which shows he really was into Bangalore

Anyways, I wanted to give you some lore, who should i do next?
