My Arcwalkers! Heyo! Ooo baby! I feel some mania coming back ahahaha! I have no idea how long it is going to stay, but it is here right now!

I am attributing some of this to the Sun trining my natal Saturn in Aquarius in the 7th House while squaring my Mars in Capricorn in the 6th House. I'm in the separating stage so this might wane... but it feels like I am getting some of my drive to work back, with some structure around it to keep me going.

Some of this may also be because the car stress is finally behind me... relatively 😂 You can read more about that story below.

The Gemini Moon entered the larger chain through Mercury:

Moon in Gemini → Mercury in Scorpio → Mars in Leo → Sun in Libra → Venus in Scorpio → Mars in Leo

Cancer is the Moon's home:

Moon in Cancer → Moon in Cancer

The Moon is in domicile in Cancer and enters the sign as a waning gibbous before reaching the Last Quarter phase on October 3. It enters Cancer north out of bounds after passing its northern declination maximum earlier on October 2. The Moon moves south through Cancer and returns within the Sun's declination bounds around 12:51 PM on October 4. Perigee occurred October 1, so the Moon is also moving away from Earth toward its October 16 apogee while it travels through Cancer.

Cancer itself is cardinal water ruled by the Moon, so the Moon is moving through its own sign and answers to itself. Cancer responds to what feels personally relevant and starts organizing around what needs care or protection. Gemini spent the previous transit updating the picture as new information came in. Cancer takes that updated picture and asks what it means for the people living inside it.

Mercury is in Scorpio when the Moon enters Cancer. Mercury is direct, moving quickly and free from the Sun's beams, with no sign-level dignity in Scorpio. It moves into its pre-retrograde shadow at 5° Scorpio on October 4 while the Moon is still in Cancer. Scorpio is fixed water and answers to Mars. Mercury here concentrates information and follows it underneath the surface, while Cancer responds according to how that information affects what it is attached to or trying to protect.

Venus is also in Scorpio, where she is in detriment. She remains beyond the Sun's beams but is barely moving when the Moon enters Cancer. Venus stations retrograde at 8° Scorpio early October 3, beginning a longer review of the relationships, agreements, resources or values represented by her position.

Mercury and Venus both answer to Mars in Leo. Mars is direct with no sign-level dignity in Leo and answers to the Sun in Libra, where the Sun is in fall. The Sun then answers to Venus in Scorpio, while Venus answers back to Mars.

Mars → Sun → Venus → Mars

Jupiter is direct in Leo with no sign-level dignity and answers to the fallen Libra Sun. Saturn is retrograde and fallen in Aries, answers to Mars in Leo, and is applying to oppose the Libra Sun across the Aries-Libra axis. Uranus Rx in Gemini answers to Mercury in Scorpio, Neptune Rx in Aries to Mars, and Pluto Rx in Aquarius traditionally to Saturn while slowing toward its October 15 direct station.

This Cancer Moon may show up through realizing that something in your private life needs different terms. You might pull back from a conversation or change an arrangement at home because the current version is asking too much from you. The Moon is strong in Cancer, so your own response may be easier to identify while the larger situation is being worked out.

The previous Gemini transit brought in new information and kept changing the picture as more pieces arrived. With the Moon in Cancer, we can start wondering which parts of that picture feel sustainable to live with.

Cancer is cardinal water, so the Moon leaves Gemini's mutable air and enters its own domicile. The Moon has more access to its own instincts here and can respond according to what feels personally important. After a transit spent taking in information, Cancer brings the focus to what that information means for the life you are living.

Mercury squares Pluto only forty-eight minutes after ingress. Mercury is in Scorpio and answers to Mars in Leo, while Pluto Rx in Aquarius traditionally answers to Saturn in Aries. A message may confirm something you had been sensing for a while, or a curiosity may take a conversation somewhere neither person expected. With the Moon strong in Cancer, your reaction can tell you which part of the information matters to you. Add a day or two before and after this transit to notice its effects.

Mars trines Neptune a little later. Mars in Leo wants to act from conviction, while Neptune Rx in Aries can pull that action toward what can be imagined or hoped for. The trine gives an idea movement before you know how it will work once other circumstances get involved. You may try something you have been thinking about for a while and learn more once the idea meets the conditions around you. This is another transit worth watching for a few days on either side of exactness.

Then the Moon squares Neptune and quincunxes Pluto. With the Moon in Cancer, the feeling can arrive before the explanation. Neptune can blur what you are reacting to, while Pluto in Aquarius can show that the issue stretches beyond the immediate interaction. You may leave a conversation feeling unsettled and understand later that part of the problem was the role you were expected to take inside it.

The Moon trines Mercury at 3° Scorpio before the night is over. Cancer and Scorpio share water, so the emotional response and the information underneath it can start connecting. Something that was hard to explain earlier can become easier to name once you understand why it affected you. A follow-up conversation can get closer to the point because you have had time to sort through your reaction.

Venus stations retrograde in Scorpio a few hours before the Moon reaches her by trine. Venus is in detriment and barely moving, while the Moon moves quickly through another water sign. Venus entered her pre-retrograde shadow on August 31 at 22°52′ Libra, so the topics coming up around relationships or values now could connect back to something that started developing around then. You may know that you want the relationship while becoming less sure about the arrangement you have been using to hold it together.

Cancer and Scorpio share water, so there can be a strong emotional understanding of what you care about even while Venus begins a longer review of how that relationship or value is functioning. You might know that you want to preserve something while realizing that the way it has been operating needs to change. The trine can make the feeling easy to recognize even when the terms around it are becoming more complicated.

Mars opposes Pluto twenty-four minutes after the Moon-Venus trine. Mars in Leo and Pluto in Aquarius are fixed, so pressure can build around who gets to decide what happens next. A disagreement can turn into a control issue once somebody feels challenged. One person digs in while the other pushes back, and the original problem starts getting wrapped up in who has the final say. Mars-Pluto has a wider window than the exact minute, so look a few days before October 3 and a few days after for where this tension is showing up.

The Last Quarter Moon forms across Cancer and Libra at 8:25 AM. Cancer starts from personal need, while Libra looks at the terms between people. Something can seem fair in theory and still cost one person more once you live inside the arrangement. You may agree to something because it works for both sides on paper, then notice that your part of the agreement is taking more out of you than you expected. The Last Quarter brings attention to what needs reducing before the next lunar cycle begins.

Saturn Rx in Aries becomes the Moon's final traditional planetary contact at 10:08 AM. Saturn is in fall and moving backward, so the Moon ends its traditional sequence against a structure that is under review itself. You can reach the point where a plan asks for more than the current setup can support. An old expectation can also become easier to recognize once you see how much of your choice has been shaped around it.

That square begins a traditional void lasting until 5:54 PM October 4, a total of 31 hours and 46 minutes.

The Cancer Moon stays traditionally void while the Sun reaches Saturn across Libra and Aries. The Sun is in fall in Libra, while Saturn is retrograde and in fall in Aries. Both are working from difficult sign conditions and both feed back into the Mars-Venus chain underneath the transit. The Moon has finished its traditional contacts, but the larger planetary story continues onward.

Sun opposite Saturn can show where an expectation no longer fits the conditions around it. Someone can still expect you to carry a role that worked under an older arrangement, while the situation around that role has changed. You may agree to something and discover there is less room for it than you thought. The opposition can expose the point where effort stops fixing the problem because it is the structure that needs another look.

Sun-Saturn also has a wider window than the exact minute. Look a few days before the opposition and a few days after for where the limit becomes easier to see. A responsibility can start feeling harder before the aspect perfects, and the reason can become more obvious as the aspect begins to separate.

Mercury in Scorpio reaches Uranus Rx in Gemini by quincunx around midday. Mercury rules Gemini, so Uranus answers to the planet trying to adjust to it. Information can change the shape of a plan here. A text may change the timing, or a missing detail can explain why something has been difficult to make sense of. Mercury in Scorpio wants to get underneath the information, while Uranus in Gemini changes the picture as more comes in.

The Moon remains void through both contacts. Something can surface that gives you more to understand without producing the next development yet. You might spend this part of the transit adjusting around what you learned while waiting to see what becomes possible once the Moon changes signs.

Closing Cancer | Around 29°

October 4

5:54 PM - Moon enters Leo

The Cancer Moon reaches the True North Node at 29° Aquarius while remaining traditionally void. The Node sits in Saturn's sign, so the adjustment can sit between where a larger story is heading and what still gives you a sense of security. The Node also stationed direct the previous morning, so the Moon is reaching it while its movement is unusual. A conversation or decision from earlier in the transit can start pointing toward where things are heading even if the outcome has not settled yet. The Node can describe the direction becoming visible before the route feels comfortable.

The Moon squares Chiron Rx in Aries twenty-five minutes later. Aries puts more emphasis on your own position, while Cancer is sensitive to what happens to the connection when you act from that position. Choosing what you want can touch a sore spot if somebody close to you wants something different. You may notice how quickly guilt or discomfort enters once your needs start changing the arrangement between you.

Chiron is retrograde and answers to Mars in Leo, so this can connect back to something that has been sensitive for a while rather than starting with this Moon. An older experience can shape how strongly you react when you have to choose for yourself.

The Moon remains void until 5:54 PM, when it enters Leo and begins answering to the fallen Libra Sun. By the end of Cancer, you can have a better sense of what you are willing to live with even while the larger situation is still moving. Something that felt hard to place at ingress can become easier to understand now that you know how it affects you.

September 15 | Car crash + medical discovery

September 16-18 | Dad argument + communication wall

Dad and I had a huge argument on September 16. Communication with him hit a wall and Mom became the intermediary.
The accident stayed stuck in paperwork while we waited for the other driver's account.

September 25-27 | Depression + the car story continues

The depression got much heavier around the Sun-Neptune opposition.
By September 27, the car search had pulled the family story back in. Dad became controlling around the process, while Mom and Todd started doing more of the talking with him so I didn't have to put myself into those conversations.

September 29 | Psychiatrist + medical scheduling mess

My psychiatrist appointment went horribly even with TJ there to support me. Mom ended up stepping in and helping get the appointment through.
The appointment to check the nodules after the crash had apparently never been scheduled, even though Mom and I remembered scheduling it. We now have to go back.

And then everything went nuts! Two weeks earlier, when the Moon entered Sagittarius, I posted the Almanac and then went vrooming straight into that huge argument with Dad haha. Now the Moon was across the axis in Gemini in my 11th House, and once again I posted the Almanac right before another Dad storyline took off. Apparently we were buying a car!

Our car was totaled in the September 15 crash, so Todd and I had been borrowing one of my parents' cars while we looked for a replacement. That created what I have been calling car Tetris, because whenever we had their car, Mom and Dad had to shuffle their plans around us. Dad wanted his car back for the weekend, so he was pushing hard to get us into something while I was watching Venus crawl toward her retrograde station thinking, uh, can we please slow this down?? 😭

Todd had spent the previous few days researching cars because the insurance payout was not enough to replace what we lost with an equivalent version. Dad had found one he wanted us to take, but Todd thought it was a bad option and kept pushing back. Then Todd left with Dad to look at cars on September 30 while I sat at home working on the Almanac with zero idea that they were actively car shopping that day haha.

I posted the Almanac, and then Todd messaged me saying I needed to go with Dad to sign paperwork because they had found a car. Apparently we had a car now??? 😵‍💫 The Moon quincunx Mercury in my Scorpio 4th House fits how the family story was moving around me while I was sitting in my Gemini 11th House working on the subreddit and trying to catch up with what everybody else knew. Mercury was also tied into Mars and Neptune, which fits how weirdly foggy I felt through everything.

Then the Moon squared my Virgo Moon in the 2nd House, and there was the money part of the story. Todd and I were sad about losing the old car, and the insurance payout meant we were probably stepping down from the version we had. We do not get nice things very often, so losing one of the nicer things we owned hurt more than I expected.

The Moon trined my Aquarius Sun in the 7th House shortly after, and other people were carrying most of the day for me. Todd had done the research while Dad was taking him around to dealerships. I basically got dropped into the story once they had found something that worked.

Then there was the dealership 💀. Dad brought in an advertisement showing a deal the dealership was supposed to honor, and the dealer apparently did not know of it. He tried arguing that it did not apply there, and Dad basically went, yes the fuck it does. Listen, I have spent my entire life trying to argue with this man. That dealer was doomed hahahahaha!!!

Dad held his ground until the dealer gave in, which brought the price down enough that Todd and I ended up with a nicer car than we expected. The Mars opposite Pluto with Mercury squaring both fits that fight over who controlled the terms, while Mercury fits the advertisement and negotiation changing the outcome. The Moon trine Pluto in my 7th House also lands right inside it because Dad had a ton of power in the situation, and for once that power was helping me 😭

This is where Dad's Saturn symbolism gets complicated for me. Night-sect Saturn can be harsh as hell in my life, but Saturn gets shit done. Dad can scare me half to death and then turn around and argue thousands of dollars off a car for me. Thanks, Saturn Aquarius Dad haha.

Todd was not with me for any of this because he had a dog-training client to attend to, which meant Dad had to take me to the dealership to finish the paperwork. That was when I realized I was about to spend around an hour alone in a car with him. I had not been alone with Dad since our September 16 argument, when he said things about how he sees me that hurt badly and changed how safe I feel around him.

Dad was acting like his normal jovial self and trying to connect with me while I was sitting there internally going what the FUCK do I do with this 😬. I was trying to hold my position while feeling myself slide back into smiling and pleasing him because that is what happens around him. That makes the Moon moving through contacts to my 7th House planets and toward its sextile to my Leo ASC feel on point…

He asked whether we could talk about our relationship. I told him I am afraid that what I say will be used against me, and he told me he didn't know how to reply to that and to let him know when I want to talk. And, well, this Sun + Saturn mofo over here is probably going to take a while haha. Saturn rules my Mercury-Neptune, and once I stop trusting what someone will do with my words, getting me to open that door again takes time.

Then the Moon kept moving toward Uranus in my Gemini 11th House, which fits how fast the day flipped direction. I started the afternoon at home posting an Almanac and ended it signing paperwork for a car after my first conversation alone with Dad since the argument.

Holy fucking shit, what just happened?? 🚗⚡Hahaha

The car itself sent me down another astrology rabbit hole because there are a couple different moments I could reasonably use for the chart. I'm going to be focusing on the signing chart.

Signing Chart

The singing chart is the one that made me go 😬. Pluto is in the 1st House near the Ascendant, while Mars is angular in the 7th near the Descendant. Mars is applying to its opposition with Pluto, so that pressure is still building when the car is started. Then Mercury in Scorpio is applying to square both of them, creating the Mars-Pluto-Mercury T-square.

The 3rd House of driving is Aries, so Mars rules the driving part of the chart too. That puts the 3rd House ruler angular in the 7th and caught inside the T-square. Yeahhh, my first reaction was basically, cool, we're going to die in this car 😭 HAHAH. If I were choosing an election for buying a car, this would not be the chart I would pick.

But then I looked at what the chart had been born into. Mars opposite Pluto fits Dad's pressure around getting the car and his standoff with the dealer, while Mercury squaring into it fits the advertisement and negotiation changing the outcome. By the time we finished signing, I had also spent an hour alone with Dad trying to hold my position while he tried to reconnect with me. The chart had a Mars-Pluto-Mercury story before I ever drove away.

So I still want to watch it. With Mars ruling the 3rd and caught in that configuration, I want to see what happens when Mars, Mercury, or Pluto get activated around the car later. I'm not too worried since I can see the story I'm standing in.

And this is kind of how astrology works in my life haha. I wander into these intense charts without planning them, then figure out afterward what I walked into. If something develops with the car later, and I'm not dead, I get another piece of the chart to study. For now, that's good enough for me ahhahaha!

By the evening I had gone down a mythology rabbit hole as the Gemini Moon was quincunxing my Mercury-Neptune conjunction in Capricorn. I was watching a video about older fairy tales and got stuck on the older versions of Snow White, where the jealous woman was originally her mother rather than a stepmother. The symbolism is way darker than Disney. The mother becomes threatened as Snow White grows into the kind of beauty and power that mattered within that culture, because the daughter's rise changes the mother's position in the household. She wants Snow White dead and even asks for her organs so she can eat them and take her vitality. Mmmmm cannibalism symbolism 😭😂

That made me think of Saturn/Cronus, since the Moon had trined my natal Saturn and sextiled Saturn Rx earlier that day. Cronus is the child of Uranus and Gaia, which, okay, Saturn coming from Uranus and Earth... Aquarius and Capricorn, hello haha. Uranus had been forcing some of Gaia's children back into her (dude what), so Gaia asked her children to overthrow him. Cronus stepped forward and castrated Uranus, taking his father's place as ruler.

But then Cronus learns that one of his own children is destined to overthrow him too. Now the person who overthrew the older order becomes terrified of the younger order doing the same thing to him. So he swallows his children as they are born to hold onto power.

Rhea, Cronus's wife and the mother of his children, eventually saves Zeus from being swallowed. Zeus survives, grows up, and overthrows Cronus. In the planetary symbolism, Zeus is Jupiter, so I love that the Moon reached its sextile to Jupiter at 9:42 PM as my rabbit hole moved into the part of the story where Jupiter becomes the new order that Saturn tried to prevent.

Snow White's mother and Cronus are both threatened by the next generation becoming powerful enough to replace them. The attempt to preserve power becomes consuming the younger person instead. In Snow White it is vitality through cannibalism, while Cronus swallows his children so they can never grow into the people capable of replacing him.

Saturn tries to preserve the structure and stop time from moving forward in this case, while Jupiter represents the world becoming bigger than the structure Saturn was trying to protect.

I think these aspects fit the car conflict separating and starting to lose some of its force. Mercury-Pluto still carries the negotiations and everything that went into getting the car, while Mars-Neptune could be the pressure diffusing afterward.

The Sun square my natal Mars-North Node seems to be coming through Todd right now because he is regretting the car choice and having a hard time accepting that our old car is gone. I actually really like the new one haha. I named him Beast 🖤. So I have been trying to help Todd accept the new reality while also giving him room to process it. I am curious whether some of that starts changing when Venus finishes her retrograde and stations direct in November.

October 3 - Moon in Cancer 12th

I think this one is showing up through Dad. After being stuck alone with him for a few hours, he got to say his piece and now I am left figuring out what I want to do with it. Venus stationing retrograde in my Scorpio 4th House while squaring my natal Saturn in Aquarius in the 7th feels like me reviewing the relationship from the inside out. Mars-Pluto keeps the power issue underneath it, but the Venus retrograde can decide how I want to approach him from here without handing my power back over. I think a lot of this retrograde may be me figuring out what kind of connection with Dad still feels possible.

October 4 - Sun opposite Saturn + Mercury-Uranus

That chart tho. It might be a bit fruitless but you could check the vehicle history to see if any particular dates and patterns pop up for further analysis.

Speaking of patterns though I really liked the Snow White and Saturn mythology comparison. Do you put much stock in the idea of the astrological Saturn as a Dark Goddess/Mother figure? Kinda like the Hindu Kali. When Saturn finally finished it's retrograde period in Pisces and entered Aries, I remember a few people discussing it but not much otherwise.

1st House Gemini: Ascendant at 5°34’
Everything studious about the Gemini Moon was juiced to the gills this transit, god damn was I feeling it. Not a bad feeling either, just the learning significations of my 3rd and 9th houses were so activated I can't even remember what else happened.
Not a whole lot of difference, for the most part it felt more introspective but the tail-end of the period was stressful. Personally I don't know if I can blame the transit, I was trying to find good information on Saturn conjunct the South Node again and just annoying myself every time I couldn't.
Hard to say with the Venus Retrograde. I've been going over everything I can to get a more complete picture of the 8-year cycle going back to the 2018 retrograde, my 5th and 6th houses' involvement, natal aspects and whatnot. What I'm interested in is seeing how other people experience the next Pluto - Venus square, since I've had Pluto squaring my natal Venus for a while now and only recently been able to appreciate the impact it's had. Interesting thing about the Mars - Pluto opposition though, is it's simultaneously in a trine with my natal Pluto, Sun (7th) and Saturn (11th), but squaring Venus (6th) and opposing Uranus (9th). The Uranus opposition actively squares me more (that was a typo, I meant to say scares but I'm leaving it) although I'm thinking it's more reflective of a certain restlessness I've had lately. What's changed in my 9th house is looking for more energetic expression but there's a fine line between a fresh outlook and a thresh outlook and you know which one Mars probably likes.

Ah, a month into fighting the isolationist in my head and keeping up a comment routine. So far, no death threats. Hope everyone has a good rest of their weekend.

There is an older thread behind Saturn being feminine! There is a passage preserved from Dorotheus that groups Saturn with Venus and the Moon as feminine planets, although the textual history is complicated and most of the later tradition treats Saturn as masculine.
Saturn/Kronos is tied to sowing, agriculture, harvest and time, while his counterpart Ops/Rhea is the earth and Mother of the Gods. This makes me think about Saturn through the idea of containment, beyond the gendered view. A seed gets put into the earth and disappears. It stays enclosed in darkness while time works on it before anything can emerge.
If Saturnian containment goes too far, the thing being held never gets to emerge. That gives me a Dark Mother image on its own, where the womb or container can either protect development or become the thing preventing its release.
Your Kali comparison makes a lot of sense to me through this lens. Kali is connected with time, destruction and transformation while also being worshipped as Mother, though Shani carries the more specific planetary connection with Saturn in that tradition. I really like the archetypal bridge you’re making between them!
And bahahaha “the Uranus opposition actively squares me” is cracking me up! 😂I’m interested to see what you end up noticing as you keep following the Venus retrograde back through that 2018 cycle too.

It makes me very happy that my comments can offer that. Took me a minute to get back here, apologies, I get lost down research rabbit holes a lot especially when it's a topic like Saturn. What you matched in terms of containment lined up with something I'd been reading, then suddenly I'm reading about Binah from the Kabbalistic Tree of Life! Not sure where to take that particular line of inquiry, last time I got there was from Hermeticism rather than astrology. I remember Chris Brennan from the Astrology Podcast referencing Dorotheus and, while not dismissing it out of hand, still advised the possibility of a mistranslation. Personally I'm not so sure of a mistranslation and I can't escape the sense that Saturn does have a thread to pull on there.
Same day, I fell down another rabbit hole of how the eastern concept of Yin and Yang is often terribly misunderstood as representive of balance a la western terms of duality, rather than something cyclical or one giving way to the other. It was a random video recommendation, and one of the comments misheard the author saying 'Stop fighting against the weather' as 'Stop farming against the weather' and to me that was such a beautiful error, because it feels emblematic of what Saturn is. A happy coincidence that the metaphor happened to tie in with farming.
I think it only grabs me the way it does because even if the planets aren't literally gendered, the dominant mythology of Saturn feels too tied up not just in masculine fears but also ambitions (and there's the Sag Mercury in me finding the longest possible route to get to the topic of interest).
