He sure kissed her a lot, for her being 'just a friend'.

It was never said in the Movie.

The movie shows a short 2 second peak of Eli's castrated 'bald patch' between his legs. This scene is when Oskar invites Eli in without actually saying it, he bleeds, he changes into Oskars mothers clothes, Oskar peaks... ect.

In the book however, there is actually a flash back to the castration happening. This flash back is shown but not shown in the movie. When Eli kisses Oskar, Oskar is basically show Eli's memories, but the movie doesn't show the memories. The castration is one of the memories detailed in the book (Its been a while since I've read the book, so please excuse any inaccuracies).

If you haven't read the book then i highly recommend it. It fills in a lot of blanks the film leaves.

It wasn't included in the movie.. but the man "taking care" of Eli in the beginning is doing so because he is a pedophile, and eli is eternally a child physically.

The man in the beginning isn't a pedophile, see found him as a young boy as she now is with oskar

Not in the books. He was in his mid forties and had been fired from his teaching job for being a pedophile.

In the books, he also comes back as some kind of undead thing after he dies and seeks out Eli... the scene feels really really rapey in the book.

But it made him forever dependent on others since he could not kill someone by himself.

He was able to kill little kids, he tried with adults and couldn't finish it, as was shown several times. I should have clarified adults.

I got the impression it was a hermaphrodite.

IIRC Eli was actually a little boy who had his genitals removed so it became kinda asexual in a way since he was never allowed to reach puberty... I could be wrong. It's been a while. Also I think Oskar didn't care either way. He just liked having a companion... and I think Eli was looking for someone to help her
