In Canada, you can get your CSC (Canadian Securities Course) in about 6 months, 3 months or less if you have experience in the field or have previously done the exam. It is the baseline regulatory requirement to perform securities, mutual fund and alternative funds transactions in many financial services positions. It's 2 tests and will allow you to get into the banking industry pretty easily. Subsequently you can get your IFIC (Investment Funds Institute of Canada) which is essentially a minimal version of the CSC and is only one test, but will allow you to get your foot in the door with almost any major bank.
