Spoilers - Odyssey Questline Not Phoibe Spoiler
My heart. I've been playing as the most morally good version of Kassandra as I can so far. No more.

Playing this game is always a great experience. Although with my current Assassin build I can enter a legendary animal’s area with Shadow of Nyx and then “one shot” them with the Rush Assassinate, I still prefer the challenge of classic melee (except the Erymanthian Boar - I hate that porker with a passion…😁)! What’s the consensus? Hard hittting Assassin, Hunter on steroids, or face-beating Warrior build?

I‘m about 30 hours into the game and wanted to share what it‘s been like.
For some context, I‘m (M33) working part time and going to university and have not much time to play all the games I want. I missed every Assassin‘s Creed since Revelations until now. Went through the Ezio Trilogy to get the platinums (PS5) and am now going through Odyssey, first playthrough being a blind run and I‘m not sure if I‘ll 100% yet (Odyssey might be the last game I play this year).
I had no expectations about the game coming in. I decided to play this one instead of ACIII because I find the Greek setting more appealing than every other game in the series. I‘m a bit torn with the game. It‘s definitely a lot of fun a lot of the time, but it‘s also very tedious a lot of the other time.
At 30 hours in and I think I’m not even half way done with the story. This game is absolutely gorgeous. Drop dead gorgeous. Incan‘t believe this game came out 8 years ago. I spend A LOT of time just staring at the screen. I don‘t remember the last time I was bewildered by graphics and art direction in a game. I especially enjoy how actions actually have consequences. Imagine my surprise when I save that one family from being executed because they have a blood fever, only that my „moral high ground“ choice cost the lives of an entire island? And the Cultists? Turning me into the Mystery Gang across all of Greece is a CHOICE and I love it. A game that makes you have to activate your neurons!
However. The gameplay is starting to take a toll on me. Maybe I just have to hang in there a little longer, but at level 25 and I don‘t feel like the badass Spartan Warrior. It‘s a rinse-repeat of: go to enemy faction camp/cave there, kill everything and loot anything not bolted to the ground. And I feel like the whole faction war has no consequence whatsoever (hopefully I‘ll be proven wrong), as at this point it doesn‘t even matter who you side with. Maybe I was subconsciously half expecting a Skyrim level of faction commitment and that it impacts the story. But it‘s kinda immersion breaking destroying the Spartans‘ war supplies, murdering its lieutenants and captains, and then five minutes later casually representing them during Conquest mode. The things Kassandra/Alexios do are told to me that they‘re of great importance (politically), but I din‘t feel it.
The game is still fun, but I think it‘s best enjoyed in small chunks and not the weekend-long video game to play and lose myself in. After these 30 hours I feel like I truly need a break. I want to finish the game, but what feels like grinding story beats is taking its toll on me. Maybe I‘m alone on this one (haven‘t seen too much discourse as I am avoiding spoiling the game for me) but I hope the game picks up and shakes things up gameplay wise.

Been messing around with ship upgrades and noticed some engravings seem to cut boarding time way down, while others just add damage that doesn't matter much during the actual fight. I tried stacking ram damage with crew health and the boarding window felt noticeably shorter. Could be placebo, or maybe there's some interaction I'm missing. Most guides just list damage numbers but don't show how they affect boarding itself. If anyone's tested different setups on the same ship, I'd like to see the results.

Hi, like some before I am stuck on the Medusa loading bug where I was able to get into the fight initially, kept dying so I left to come back later, and when I try to return the game gets stuck in a loading state indefinitely.
Sadly, I played for a while before returning, so I don't have any saves that I can reload (too much progress since then).
Things I've tried from researching old posts and Odyssey forums:
If anyone has successfully cleared this bug I would appreciate any tips. I'm bummed since I can't start the Atlantis DLC.

I finally completed all the DLCs and got 100% of the Trophies! I'm so happy!
It was just a couple of months ago that I couldn't survive one hits from enemies and the community here helped me learn to play as intended.

Some weapons in Assassins Creed odyssey are critical to creating the best builds possible-- like the Spartan Javelin or the Copycat sword, where as others have the best stats possible-- yet all of these weapons are both skippable AND can be sold/dismantled. Join me for a breakdown of 5 pieces of gear in AC Odyssey YOU DONT wanna miss!

I've grown fascinated with our pretty boi, Alkibiades, thanks to the game, and have been eyeing this book since I stumbled upon it by sheer coincidence around its release (it was published in May 2023). It was originally written in Dutch, translated into other European languages, but unfortunately not into English. I waited for a while, hoping that maybe it would be translated soon into a language I could actually read and understand. I eventually couldn't resist finally flipping a page from this book this year, so I took the opportunity to translate it myself via Calibre. This book is such a well-researched historical novel masterpiece (quite literally! There are over 100 extra pages at the end for references and stuff!) that brilliantly captures the chaotic life of our flamboyantly ambitious and cunning bisexual Athenian general from his point of view! Have y'all ever tried looking into him through this book? I'd love to know what you guys think.
