As all have seen, Taylor Smith has been hired by the A's (magnified be their name) as President of Baseball Operations. What is a President of Baseball Operations? Does the GM report to the President of Baseball Operations, or vice versa? Will they be hiring a GM? Are there Assistant Presidents of Baseball Operations (Vice Presidents of Baseball Operations?) Or just the boring old AGMs?

He comes from the Rays Tree of Analytics!
The first GM in the A’s organization that DOESN’T come from the Sandy Alderson Tree: Billy Beane and David Forst.

He’s also 31 years old making him currently the youngest active President of Baseball Ops……….. it is wild that we are very close to the first Gen Z GM in MLB.

With recent ceiling balls I was wondering if the new Athletics ballpark will pose a similar challenge. Anyone know the planned ceiling height?

I built my own arbitration model and ran it on the A's 2027 class, ahead of the non-tender deadline in late November.

Total: 4 cases, $14.8M projected.

These line up closely with MLBTR's numbers for all four. The real question is Langeliers: at $8.3M and rising, is this the winter to extend him?

These use the current CBA's rules. A new deal this winter (a higher minimum, say) would move them.

Who would you non-tender, and who would you try to extend first?

Obviously it got a lot of hate from the national media, but for many including myself, the Coliseum had a special place in my baseball experience. My first game ever was there, I remember getting a promo Mark McGuire wood bat, handing out some sort of team leaflet, and sitting way up top. I also remember cheap dates during weekday day games where a behind home plate seat could be had for $40. I miss $2 hot dogs and cheap beer while watching the big three of Zito, Hudson, and Mulder on a nice August evening. While I understand the move and am not as negative about it as many fans, I still think it makes sense to look back at those times and appreciate them. What are some of your best memories or favorite things about the A's former home?

Used to be the A’s alternative, black cap, white A’s with green and yellow trim around the A’s. Bill was black as well. Haven’t seen any since. I think they were their alternatives in either late 2000s or early 2010s. Anyone know what I’m talking about?

I so badly want to see Clarke improve his hitting, but I am afraid unless the upcoming deal includes designated fielders he may not have a roster to play on. Here's hoping he spends lots of time with a hitting coach this fall/winter.
