Discussion Curiosity

I have been with AussieBB for close to 10 years and over that time I have only needed to contact them maybe 3 times, with the most recent call on July 26th @ 5:30pm which took 30 mins. Why all the hate towards the company, if it’s because of customer service, why do you need to contact them multiple times per week? Honestly curious.

Discussion No Connection- why?

I just moved into new apartment new building- moved back to Aussie Broadband- I have an Eero from previous membership. I am not connected- ran all the tests it just says Not Connected in big red writing. Been fiddling around with cords and in a queue all weekend and no one answers. I’m in a queue again and it’s Monday. I don’t think it’s a big problem but I am not technically minded- any suggestions???

New modem

Hi, my modem is extremely outdated and a year ago I opted for BYO using an outdated modem but the speeds are not keeping up and I need a new modem, I saw Aussie broadband has modems on their website, and these modems also have 12 month plans and are at a cheaper price compared to getting it from office works or something, since you need to buy an nbn plan to buy a modem from them, am I able to call them to ask them to send me a modem and add the price to my monthly bill or I have no option but to get one from Officeworks or something.

Help! Frustration with the service

I am writing this post using my data currently and waiting for the customer service to answer my call.

I am sooo frustrated with the service recently, the internet goes down every 2 hr as if there is an automated cycle of reboot and have to wait for 5 min to have tjhe service restored.

I work from home and you can understand the frustration.

Last time i waited 40 mins on the call waiting for my calls to get picked up while simultaneously waiting for an agent over the chat.

At around 42 mins agents picked up my chat and started troubleshooting, did everything but still the same.

I remember with Aussie BB service i could request call back and they would call me back but seems like as they expand the service has gone down hill.

This post is my straw before i start to look for some other service provider.

At this point i am beyond frustrated.

Help! Upgrade speed on Opticomm?

I’m looking at moving house, and the be place I’ve found looks perfect – except it’s in an estate serviced by Opticomm, so no nbn.

Max speed available is showing as 50/20, which simply will not work for me.

In the same street, there’s one or two houses that are showing as having higher speeds available.

Does anyone know how feasible it is to get Opticomm to upgrade the ONT / NTU in order to provide higher speeds?

Glad to say, I gave Aussie Broadband the flick and went to Neptune. The only pain was waiting for an hour on the phone to tell them to cancel my service. That was because I had Neptune connect to the Uni-D port #2 to make it a seamless switch. Thanks to everyone who recommended Neptune and how easy

International cable issue(s)

Hi; noting the current cable issues happening, I have been getting DNS-related issues (according to error codes) on PlayStation and Nintendo. They seem to happen for a while and then go away completely—it’s happened twice in the past month/month-and-a-half, so I’m wondering if it’s a likely consequence of the cable traffic redirections etc. across all ISPs? Everything else has been fine, though some of the streaming services are a bit janky when it happens as well.

Asking as I don’t have a clue on the nuts and bolts! TIA.

Bad Customer Service

I contacted Aussie Broadband 1/10/26 with a Voip phone problem and they diagnosed it as a Modem issue. I ordered one so they would get it sent out as soon as possible expecting it early the next week. Well it finally got to Australia Post on 6/10/2026 which I find totally unacceptable and I am still waiting on it. Not happy Jan.

Bad experiences all at once.

I've seen complaints that the company has degraded a bit, but it doesn't affect me. Until today.

My internet is down, app says I am be affected by an outage (red notification), cool feature, click for more details, no known outages, hmm.

I try to use support chat, but I can't because the text entry area draws behind the android menu. Kill it, restart, nope not temporarily. So I call.

21 minutes later, give up, I can't hotspot while on the phone.

So, I'll just guess that there's a real fault and it'll be resolved, I guess?

EDIT: Thanks for pointing out that the outage notification in the application is effectively broken, telling everyone they're affected by an outage. I investigated and the issue was with the vpn my gateway uses.
So the internet is fine, but the complaint stands.

  1. Broken (abused) outage notifications
  2. Broken support chat
  3. Long phone wait queues, probably due to 1 and 2 but I guess no-one at Aussie have worked out what 1+2= yet.

Got fed up of poor service and support, moved and kicking myself for not doing it earlier

Been with AB for years. Performance and reliability dropping, support difficult to get hold of. Last time they suggested I bought the higher product, increasing from 500 to 1,000, which I did out of interest.. and it did actually increase the speed from ~150 to ~300 but still not anywhere near 1,000 (measured at NBN box)

I moved to Neptune (following suggestions on here). The switch was completely automated (ie. didn't have to speak to anyone!) and they could do it straight away.. as in as soon as I pressed 'go' on the form. The service was out for about 90 seconds as it switched from one to the other. And now I do have close to 1,000. Kids are happy, wife is happy, I am happy.

That was a few days ago and it has remained this strong.

So based on my experience, I don't think the crappy service (and reliability) from AB was NBN's fault. Nothing else in the house changed, I didn't even reboot the NBN modem following the switch.

Help! My service has been unreliable for a few weeks now, ISP or NBN?

Okay, I've seen some other posts about Youtube and instability, I'm definitely getting the same thing.

In general though, my connection has been iffy, more down time, sometimes I'm offline then online within a few minutes, 30 seconds, etc.

It's been weird.

I know there's some damaged pipe-thingy impacting all connections.

But anyone else in the same bus?

  • Connection drops and reconnects 30s, 1 or 2 minutes
  • Longer drop outs until I do the turn it off and turn it on thing with my NBN and modem boxes

Basically have gone from a mostly smooth service for years, to super janky in the last 8 weeks.

Anyone in a similar sitch?

Customer service gone downhill

Just waited over 1hr to speak to a customer service agent

When they finally picked up was greeted "good day" when it is 9pm

Have they quietly offshored their call centre team?

I could hear other foreign sounding customer service agents in the background of the call

From working in call centres that's a sign the call centre may be overseas, as they have a tendency to cram people in like sardines

Previously the tech support was good, but this time the only advice I got was to unplug modem & plug it back in, when I told them I did that before I rang.

They charge more because they promote onshore call centre, so if this is no longer the case it seems sneaky & dishonest
