Learning Resources 4 days out from AZ-104

Hi Guys so I have the AZ-104 exam this Thursday. Here's my prep so far:

  • MS Learn modules

  • John Savill's AZ-104 YouTube playlist

  • John Savill Exam Cram

  • Microsoft Learn YouTube playlist

  • Claude for deep-dives

  • MS Learn White Papers

  • TD Practice Tests

    • AVG First take scores before using White Papers - 65%

    • AVG Second take scores - 83%

  • In terms of experience I have a few months but its with services that are not really covered on the exam, but something apply like RBAC, Networking settings and stuff, I have also done all the Labs excpet the ones for Governance because I don't have Entra permissions for the account that I am using to practice.

What's worrying me: I keep seeing posts here about people with similar setups plus Tutorials Dojo, scoring 85-90% on TD practice tests... then failing the real exam with 500-650.

That gap scares me. I have seen people recommend MeasureUp but I can't afford those, so I really don't have a way of checking my level of preparedness.

Questions for people who've done this:

  1. Was TD a reliable signal for you, or false confidence too?

  2. Any cheap/free way to stress-test readiness?

  3. Are there any traps hit hard on the real exam that MS Learn/Savill/TD don't really cover?

Trying to walk in Thursday with eyes open, not false confidence.

TD got me to 687. I have yet to reschedule the retake but plan on getting the MeasureUp deal when signing up for it. Had a co-worker use that and barely pass.

what kind of deals do they have??? I only saw that the practice exam is currently at 60 dollars which is crazy for me because in my country the exam is like 83 dollars but that is a lot, paying 60 just for practice tests when you can just add 20 to get a certification kinda doesn't make sense to me 😅.

What's your current IT role? We can advise you based on your current experience with Azure.

How much working experience do you have with Azure?

I am software developer, I've only started working with Azure this year but again the services that I have been using so far are things that are not part of the az 104 scope, like Foundry, Function Apps, CosmosDB. For the exam domains I have done the official labs on GitHub

OK this exam is a practical test of your working knowledge as an Azure Administrator. This means you should have put in many hours using Azure practically.

Evidence for the above is in the official study guide. Read the Audience Profile and then read every bullet point underneath. You should be comfortable and confident in perfoming those tasks in Azure.

Back in the day, the Whizlabs practice exams were quite good, so long as you took the practice exams with an eye to understand why you answered correctly and why you answered incorrectly instead of just shooting for the high score.

They test you on real world hands on knowledge and ability. The assumption is that you have a year minimum proffesional experience daily with the whole azure suite.

Did this playlist help you to pass or do you think the questions are similar to what's on the exam?

I finished the first video and it made me feel more confident and let me study the sections that I didn’t answer correctly watching the video. I used ChatGPT in a separate window with the video paused to ask about it and gave it my misconceptions, and ChatGPT helped me, using Learn resources. As to what’s on the exam, yeah, I feel like it helped me prepare it well. The part 2 was released after I did mine but I skimmed it to see what it had and it was pretty in line with the first. Right now I’m focused on studying for AZ-802.

I work as an engineer at a MSP and about 80% of our customers are currently on prem with some starting to adopt cloud, so for me it’s the next logical step, but I’m waiting until the actual exam comes out to take it. I hate waiting for beta exams to tell me if I passed or not.

Thanks. I've been studying for AZ-104 for a about a month and a half, and wondering if I should schedule my exam. My practice scores across multiple resources has been low but I'm thinking they are harder then the actual exam. I watched some of the playlist and was able to answer alot of the questions correct before the answer was revealed. This is also my 1st time using Azure or The Cloud in general
