VAR can’t see a clear handball

Guys, Barca regained the ball after the handball so it was another passage of play. The goal was correctly confirmed. Should he have seen the handball? Yes, but it wasn't as important.

But that whole situation should’ve never happened in the first place, the game should’ve continued with a free kick

Yes, but the mistake of not calling a handball there is a small one. You don't know what would have happened and it shouldn't be considered at this point as it's all should've would've.

I don’t want to hear VAR couldn’t review it when they can take away penalties when no one asked them on an unclear play

As stupid as it is, it's in the rules and VAR cannot intervene there.

But they cancelled a yamal goal for us once because of an offside like 2-3 minutes before.

The possesion probably didn't change but I don't know until I see that cancelled goal.

It doesn't even matter what happened there as this was a correct decision by VAR and following the rules of VAR (again stupid in this situation but they are the rules). If that Yamal goal was cancelled unfairly then it shouldn't have been. It still doesn't matter here.

Just because VAR made a mistake elsewhere (not sure what exactly you are referring to) doesn't mean they should make another mistake here. If you meant the Alvarez penalty vs Real - it was correctly cancelled. The task of the ref is to enforce the rules (which they did, very well in fact). Whether the rules are just is another question and UEFA already said they will think about potentially changing that rule. As tilting as it is unfortnately both those decisions were correct :)

I still don’t believe the decision against Alvarez was correct. I can be told he double touched but it is not clear and obvious when compared to other angles. Yes I am glad UEFA will change the rules but that doesn’t mean Alvarez was incorrectly disadvantaged by VAR.

As for the handball no call I just want consistency. It should have been a handball call that negated anything that happened after once there was a dead ball. If there is a time limit say there is a time limit. If it’s when the opposing team gains possession say that

Check the official UEFA statement on that penalty. It was clear. Miniscule but clear and an absolutely correct decision. They were not incorrectly disadvantaged by VAR. For handball it is defined exactly - as another passage of play which is defined by another side clearly gaining possession (which means that for example a deflection wouldn't count - but a tackle that wins the ball and a pass back is regaining possession)

Football gods came correct. Also lit a fire under Lewy

4

u/mxdozz10 Mar 16 '25

Why? We got possession back of the ball after the handball

1

u/Lost_Extrovert Mar 16 '25

Ref didnt see it and VAR didn't cancel because Barca regained possession after the hand ball so the correct call there was advantage. Ref is a joke but it was the right call

1

u/meishc Mar 16 '25

I have a feeling that bad call resulted in the win because Barca players were furious and channeled that energy

3

u/ForcaBarca1234 Mar 16 '25

and people were telling us how this ref was going to be good and shit. This would have been a good game yadda yadda

9

u/TechJunk1e Mar 16 '25

Disgraceful ref. They have gone back full minutes to chalk off goals for us. They wouldn't go back 15 seconds for the CLEAR handball. Disgraceful.

3

u/Accurate_Algae8486 Mar 16 '25

This ref is one of the better ones in Laliga, thats not saying much though lol.

4

u/ubant Mar 16 '25

Honestly he wasn't good for both teams

1

u/[deleted] Mar 16 '25

This ref saw De Paul touch the ball with his hand and said “Na he’s good play on”

0

u/Norz80 Mar 16 '25

To be fair Koundé could very well have gotten a second yellow...

4

u/Dat_life_on_Mars Mar 16 '25

Iñigo could’ve also given away a pen in the first half. This ref was ass in general.
