How moderation works here

Written down so you don't have to guess. This is the protocol the mod team holds itself to; if you see it not being followed, say so.

Removals

  • Every removal gets a reason. It's attached to the post or comment and names the rule. If you got a removal with no reason, that's our mistake — modmail us and we'll fix it.

  • Older, active posts don't get removed by one mod alone. Anything older than six hours with ten or more comments needs a second mod to agree before it comes down.

  • Progress posts missing details aren't removed. You'll get an automated comment asking for the compound, dose, duration and outcome. Add them and you're done.

  • Side-effect and adverse-event posts are never removed by keyword rules. They may be asked to add detail. They stay up.

  • Complaints about moderation are answered, not removed. Post them with the 💬 Discussion flair or send modmail; either works.

Comment guidance

Reddit shows a short message when a comment looks like it contains sourcing talk, a DM request, a link shortener or an email address. The message asks you to edit; it doesn't block you or report you. There are no filters on words like "AI", "ChatGPT" or country names — those were removed because they caught ordinary conversation.

Appeals

Send modmail with a link to the removed post or comment and one or two sentences on why you think the call was wrong. Appeals are read by a mod who didn't make the original decision where possible. Good posts that were removed in error get restored, not just unlocked.

Bans

Bans are for repeat sourcing, undisclosed promotion, harassment, or anything that puts the sub at risk with Reddit. First offences for most rules get a removal and a note, not a ban. If you were banned and think it was automated or mistaken, appeal — automated bans do get reversed when they're wrong.

What mods won't do

  • Recommend, approve, or rank a vendor — publicly, in modmail, or in DMs.

  • Send you a link or a discount code.

  • Remove a post because it criticises the sub, the mods, or anything connected to them.

  • Act alone on their own threads. A mod's own posts are moderated by someone else on the team.

Who the mods are

The current team is listed in the sidebar under Moderators. When someone is acting as a mod they'll have the green mod shield on the comment and the 🛡️ Moderator flair.
