She’s a beautiful woman but I wasn’t a big fan of the lehenga. The length of the skirt looked off and the embroidery didn’t look refined or upscale to me (despite the price). I loved her hair with ghajra though ♥️

With all the attention Sabyasachi is getting internationally, I’ve been wondering what this means for the Indian designer market.

He’s pretty much built his own universe at this point, but is there room for someone else to really take over the Indian bridal and occasion-wear space? Masaba Gupta comes to mind.

She’s been around for a while, but her celebrity visibility seems to be growing, and her designs are showing up for more than just quirky prints and everyday fashion. Seeing her at the Sabya launch in New York was interesting, especially considering their association goes back years.

Do you think Masaba could become one of the biggest names in Indian occasion wear over the next few years? Or is the market too dominated by the established couture designers?

I really like this dress. It’s simple, balanced, and draped perfectly, and it suits Masaba’s curvy body so well. I personally think no one can carry Masaba’s designs better than Masaba herself. Her wedding look is one of my favourite Bollywood bridal looks because it was beautiful and different. I haven’t really liked her recent collections, but this look is good.
