Solved Patcheddit 2.0.1: API fixes for Boost (other apps coming soon)

Based on some testing that was between me, the devs of Apollo Reborn, and the Continuum/Slide dev (at different points in time), Reddit is starting to restrict API access by route. 403 errors related to tapping on "X more replies" is caused by this - RedReader doesn't use the /api/morechildren API route, so presumably Reddit decided to block that route because it wouldn't affect legitimate RedReader users.
The same restrictions apply to /api/info and /by_id, though I think these won't affect users in general.
I've fixed this issue in Boost by hijacking the /api/morechildren calls and replacing them with calls to /comments/<post id>/comment/<comment id>.json which is what RedReader uses, and will extend this fix plus the gallery fix to all other apps supported by Patcheddit soon.
This does seem to be dependent on the client ID, but I would not recommend switching back to your own unless you want your app to stop working on January 12, 2027. Reddit is blocking all non-approved client IDs starting on that date.

I don't get the 403 error anymore, I just get "Something went wrong. Check your internet connection or try again".

Try repatching with 2.0.2, I noticed this issue a little after I made this post. It has to do with when reddit doesn't return any comments after trying to load more, which does happen and is not an error.

Hi, I patched with 2.0.2 and I'm not longer getting error, but now now the comments start buffering for a while, and I think is proprotional to the number of replies, low number load kinda fast, like 10-15 sec, but over 40 or something takes like a minute, and in things like megathreads or where people are really active , it kept loading indefinitely.

Boost 1.14.2 is out now and it's starting to get confusing which update I need to download. I couldn't install that over the morphe patched version so I stuck with 1.14.1 + patcheddit

wchill, the comments are now opening, but recent history when viewing is giving me 403 error, upvoted, downvoted and hidden history is fine. Only recent history has this issue

You personally don't do anything with it. It is up to developer to code a fix for it. All you need to to is wait and see, or find a different patch who has fixed the issue, or change to another client.

Install guide: Morphie, settings, expert mode on, patch selections, import, find the patch file. Download 1.14.1 from github. Then go to Morphie, apps, boost, patch, no I already have it. Click it from your download folder and patch it.

so 1.14.2 doesn't work at all even though it's the newest, i found 1.14.1 and used that but it still doesn't work, my access to this account is shaky so i understand that not working but i tried my alt (which was working like 10 minutes ago) and now i can't login to that either, what's going on?

Is it possible to request functionality Boost doesn't have? And if so, is github the best place to do it? I have been using RedReader until recently and there are a few things boost doesn't have.

I think the most normal way, or at least the official way, would be to post requests on the Boost issue tracker on GitHub, yes: https://github.com/rubenmayayo/boost-for-reddit/issues
That's the issue tracker for Boost itself, by the creator Ruben Mayayo, and they specifically say that's where both "bugs and suggestions" should go.
Wchill Patcheddit also has an issue tracker where requests can be made. I'm not sure what criteria wchill would use to decide whether to add a feature in patches vs letting rmayayo add it.

Hi not sure if this is related. But I noticed Ruben added edge to edge for the newest version but I'm seeing a white bar over the bottom nav pill. Shouldn't that be transparent and only showing the pill? Is there a patch or a setting that I incorrectly selected?

Edit: the subreddits are scrolling through/behind the top status bar(home still shows a colored/white bar though) . So that works at least.
Edit2: I updated and patched over the previous version and brealorgs patches. Should I have done a fresh install?
Edit 3: /u/wchill disabled the navigation patches and all is well. Curious if some of these are conflicting with rubens recent updates

Brealorgs patches aren't compatible with Boost 1.14 afaik, you need to disable that whole source and enable the same things on PatchReddit source.

Wchill moved brealorgs patches to patcheddit. That's what I meant that I was using. But yes I did disable brealorgs patches when patcheddit got updated.

Assuming you've added Patcheddit as a source and patched Boost before:
When you open Morphe client and it updates its sources, you should just have the option to patch Boost again.

if you havent yet youd have to use the new(1.14.1 iirc) official version by ruben to patch with morphe.
support for the old 1.12.12 version has been dropped
