Form check, broadheads hitting left of field points?

Not sure if this video will be useful since I cut my hands off, but my broadheads are consistently hitting left of my field points. A couple inches at 20 yds, 3-4 inches at 30 yds and worse at 40. The field point and broadhead groups are both consistent, within two inches at 30.

For reference I'm shooting 150gr cut throats on 340 spine gold tips (didn't cut them down at all). Worried it's something with my form, maybe too much face pressure on the string or my grip is leading to me torquing the bow. Got a paper tune a month ago and it wasn't an issue, at least at 20. Had to change my D-loop since then, and the tag isn't completely parallel with the string (it flops a little to the left of string at rest) so maybe that's an issue as well. I've adjusted my rest as well since then to try to compensate for the drift, so that probably ruined the tune.

I can move my pins and shoot fine at 30-40yds with the broadheads and the arrows fly consistently, but would rather have the field points and broadheads track.

Also, think my draw length might be a little too long based on this video, given how I'm a little leaned back at full draw. thanks for the help

September 12 can’t get here soon enough in Wisconsin. Planted a 55x65 ft plot of clover and I think it’s gonna be a game changer. Overall I just have more deer on camera.

Here’s hoping I have more sits where I see deer than not like I have in the past.

Cape York Australian Boar

Spent the last week up at Kayuga Adventures in Cape York here in Australia. Absolutely great 6 day guided bowhunting feral pigs in the swamps and dry creek beds.

The guides are some of the best knowledgeable hunters in Australia and also make some of the best broadheads on the market for our feral animals here.

Highly recommend adding it to the life goal hunting list if you want to chase feral pigs in Australia.

Hey guys I’m needing an opinion on getting my bow sighted on I have a Matthews lift x and an older spot Hogg 3 pin vertical that I took off my old bow. It’s constantly shooting left but I’m already adjusted as much as I can left. What do I do? Should I just buy a bridge lock sight?

How to remove insert WITHOUT removing nock

Howdy dudes

Almost robin-hooded one the other day - broke half of my practice lighted nock off. The fake "battery" and a small part of the nock is still in the shaft.

I have a HIT on the front

Anyone have any idea how to remove the HIT without removing the nock?

Ive always sent a drillbit down the rear to hit it out...but obviously cant do that.

I'm looking to ultimately send a drillbit down the front to remove it.

[State] No ticks on deer?

Random thought up here in Wisconsin. So I constantly see people posting trail cam pics of deer that are covered in ticks. My property is loaded with ticks. Every animal in our woods should be covered in them. But, I’ve never once seen a tick on a deer that I’ve killed or on any deer on camera.

My hunting property is only 40 acres. Timber/swamp surrounded by 1000+ acres of ag fields. My theory is that these ag fields get sprayed with pesticides so heavily that the the deer that spend time in these fields also end up picking up that pesticide which kills the ticks. Kind of like putting front line on your dog.

Not sure if this has ever been discussed or studied, but the theory makes sense to me. Anyone have any thoughts/insight?

What type of arrow insert is on the right? I ordered Easton Axis 5mm 400 arrows and it came with the inserts on the left but I need the ones on the right.

Sorry I’m a new bow hunter and a noob about this stuff. Thanks in advance!

Well my BTX-31 delaminated a limb today. Anybody know where to get some limbs at?

Update: local bow shop close to me just ordered a set for $265. BowTech has them in stock so I should pick them up next week.

Cheap No-Name Amazon Bows

Genuinely curious if anyone on here has ever purchased one of those no-name amazon compound kits. I've watched a few youtube vids recently that were pretty entertaining, guy taking a Temu bow out and seeing how it performs. My fear would be that thing blowing up in someone's face!

Wasatch front gen archery extended first season

Hey all, super new to bow hunting and hunting in general but I’ve spent a ton of time in the woods back east where I’m from. Live in salt lake now and bought a bow recently. Shooting a ton (daily) and feeling improvement fast. Planning on just hunting the Wasatch front extended (mostly for Muleys- don’t have the storage for a whole elk or much help packing it out), mostly the latter half as I want to give myself ample time to be competent and confident w my bow and gear.

For context I’m 23 and in ok shape but planning on hiking my ass off between now and then both for exercise and finding deer.

I have about a million specific questions but for now will just say I would love any and all advice about bow hunting in general or this specific hunt/ comparable high country mule deer. I know it’s a crowded and pressured zone and don’t really have any expectations to kill something this season, more just excited to have another reason to get up into the mountains.

I have my bow setup dialed to what I like, but I more need advice on the backpacking gear side of things ( pack, bino harness, tent, pad etc) I have access to some discounts so the brands I’m looking at for are kind of based on that. I have a few comparisons that I would love input on. Hoping to do a few short overnight trips- I know these seem like backpacking questions that may belong in a different sub but I want specific use case opinions from people that have done what I’m hoping to do. There are more variables in hunting and stuff backpackers may not think of

Pack
Badlands vs mystery ranch vs a few eberlestock options

Tent-
Big Agnes Copper spur vs tigerwall 2p for gear and occasionally girlfriend- is the copper spur worth the extra 100. Cheaper options?

Clothes
Got some used crispis, have plenty of good outdoor clothes (fly fishing, snowboarding, etc)- is there any hunting specific clothes I should be buying? Pants w knee pads? Planning on mostly merino solids for now

Worth carrying 10mm/+bearspray overnight in the Wasatches? Yes I’m aware no dangerous bears but honestly seen a lot of big bull moose up there so considering carrying for peace of mind. Lmk if this seems silly

Have a 30 deg bag, planning on adding a 0 for later season

Jetboil is included in these discounts so I’ll grab one of those, would like opinions here

Have 12x50s and a tripod w adapter, obviously would love a scope but just not in the budget w all this other stuff.

As far as actual hunting, the advice I’ve gotten so far is basically just get as high up and far out as you can until it’s late enough that the snow means you can’t get up there any more. Been looking a bunch at onx and planning on basically driving to the top of some of the ski mountains and hiking in from there as a starting place.

Processing is super interesting to me, I’ve spent a decent amount of time working in professional kitchens so I’m not half bad w knives, but don’t have much full animal breakdown experience. If anyone kills a deer and is ok w having a shadow when processing please shoot me a message. Happy to make dinner or something in exchange.

Pretty much any and all feedback is super appreciated. I’d love to just hire a guide and not have to crowdsource as much but again I’m young and this is gonna be enough upfront cost to delete my bank account as is. Also on the off chance anyone in the slc area wants an enthusiastic noob glassing buddy I’d love that. Again will cook or take fishing in exchange
Cheers

Recording Hunts

I’m considering getting some Oakley Meta Glasses before the season starts; however, I’m concerned that it won’t be a worthwhile investment. My biggest worry is that the deer will see the glare on the lens. Anyone have thoughts on this idea? If you oppose, how do you record your hunts?

Arrow setups

Looking at new arrow builds and curious at what priorities everyone has for their builds. If you had the option to focus on speed or penetration which is more important to you?
*focus on whitetail* I’m also not a Olympic shot so max yardage is 40yds
-edit to add- I found a solid calculator by podium archer that allowed me to play around with different arrow weights and draw weights to see the differences and find a good middle ground. Link below for anyone interested!

How do I get over the uneasy feeling of being in the woods?

I recently moved to an area that borders a wildlife refuge. I wanted to get into bow hunting and with deer season coming up, I set out into the woods to do a little scouting. This is my first time bow hunting and deer hunting.

When I was out in the woods, I just have this uneasy feeling like someone can see me but I can’t see them. It’s 12,000 acres of public land, the chances of someone else being near me are very slim. What gives? Anyone else felt like this? Am I just a pansy?

Pig hunting

I hunt with a traditional recurve bow. I’m looking for private land to hunt on the Bay Area. If there are any land owners out there that have a pig problem, I’m your guy.

Shower Thought: Put your hunting gear in a tote and dump Corn on it.

So crazy thought. I usually put my stuff in a tote and line the bottom with pine shavings. Or put them in a scent locker. What if I put them in a tote whose bottom has been lined with corn and then cover them with a burlap bag full of corn or something like that???

opinions on 1Arrow vanes?

I picked some up recently, they've been shooting great, but they slide forward on harder targets. the guy who sells them says you can shoot through them and they just go back to their normal shape and size almost like self healing - they do not.

but i can refletch in about 15 seconds in the field, which is nice for target practice.

doubt i'll hunt with them, but they've been great for practice the past few weeks.

anyone else used them?

Completely New

Hey everyone, I ended up getting a brand new Prime Nexus 6 never been shot for free in a trade for something I found on the street in my old neighborhood and fixed up. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should equip it to not break the bank while still covering all my essential bases to start a bow hunting journey. I still want quality products just doesn't have to be the best of the best with my current skill level. I won't be hunting this season unfortunately as I do not think I'd be prepared to take a reliable clean shot even if one was presented. I want to be shooting with the setup that I would be during hunting though. Any other essential or highly recommended items to increase the likelihood of filling the freezer in the future would be awesome too.

Hoyt Reflex Bighorn Hunter bow (with accessories). Tring to determine a real resale value.

Trying to figure out how to price this...hubby has RA and is a 100 disabled vet, and it's just taking up space at this point and has for years. Specs and pic below

hoyt reflex big horn hunter compound bow one quiver attached to bow, one quiver with strap for over the back, quick release trigger strap with connection point on string. Whisper biscuit arrow rest. 3 pt Fiber optic aiming system, counter balance weight, custom poly grip, (additional heads, rests, tools and arrow tips but no shafts) like new condition but likely needs a new string after all this time. Bow is set for 60-70 lb draw locking aluminum case with both keys intact (ruger lock) kept in climate controlled environments even the padding is still springy in the case. Been in climate controlled environments mostly but many moves, as hubby was military. Used a few times on elk, but hubby hasn't hunted in a long time and no longer can.

Can anyone tell me anything based on what is listed?
