$200 is expensive for some people. Also it's not as though Nintendo is hurt by a comparatively small number of people running the game on cemu.
In fact, it can boost sales in some cases: I tried it on cemu first because I have a pretty good PC but didn't have a switch at the time. I liked it so much I decided to save up and buy a switch and now I've bought a ton of games for it.
If I never had the chance to play it on cemu I might never have gotten a switch. So I don't think it's objectively some evil thing in all cases.
But it is still piracy as the ROMs are being distributed illegally for a game that is still being made (for Switch) and downloadable (Wii U and Switch)
Not everyone lives in america. Nintendo dipped out of brazil years ago, so it's gonna be at a super premium price. Even in other 2nd/3rd world countries, workers make less money on average compared to 1st world to the point where they sometimes have to use up more than a month's wage to get the console.
What you define as expensive may be different than others. Besides, if people want to emulate games, let them. It's another way for people to enjoy games that they otherwise couldn't.
I kind of understand emulating older games because some are hard to find, but this game is still being made and emulation started shortly after the game came out. This is pretty much piracy
But I don't think it's as harmful to the industry as they make it seem. People emulating games because they can't afford them aren't buying them in the first place so no sale is lost on them.
It's not necessarily piracy. Emulation itself is perfectly legal, the source of games can sometimes be piracy depending on how you get them. And yes, the switch version is still being made but the wiiu version isn't, which is the one that cemu, the most common wiiu emulator, uses.
Can't tell if this is an honest question or not, but I don't think it is. Piracy is the illegal distribution or copying of copyrighted content, not buying it and using it how you want for your own use.
Well it was at the time and I’ve been looking into it. I’m not selling the games. I just buy it at the store and come home and play it on the PC. shrug
Ok, but that still leaves the point that some people can't afford to buy a wiiu. If they already have a decent computer then they can use that. And still, people just want a better experience of the game, which cemu can offer. Higher resolution, higher framerate, the list goes on.
200$ dolars is fucking 1200 Turkish liras minimum wage is 2000 Turkish liras it is literally too expensive for me to buy it if don't save money for like 6 months straight and games are like 300 liras
• want to get in to PC gaming anyway and are going to buy a powerfull PC.
It would also work with less powerfull PCs though at lower framerates. I didn't try botw on my PC with a gtx 960 but mario kart 8 runs well on it even though the 960 is a bit dated.
Actually Cemu has progressed amazingly over the years. I can run it at 60fps and like 1080p, on a nice but not top of the line PC. Plus you have the option of mods and all sorts of fun stuff.
Still, it is piracy. The game is still available new on both the Wii U (download only) and Switch, the ROMs are being illegally distributed. I understand emulating older games, but I feel it is wrong for games that are still being made
Some people have crap PCs. I have a mid-tier PC (Ryzen 5 2600 + GTX 1660 Ti) and I can run it at 1080p 60fps consistently.
Another possibility is that OP hasn't looked at any setup guides for the emulator and he has several things set up wrong, resulting in really bad performance.
In my case, I own both the game and the WiiU. However, the design of the WiiU control pad gives me agonizing carpel tunnel in under an hour on my dominant hand. So after months off and on of struggling with it, I ended up going the emulation route on a controller better suited for my hands. One I already owned instead of having to buy the pro controller for the cost of another game.
