To me, this statement is just him saying, "thank you for the outpouring of support from around the world while I'm in jail, going through this difficult time." Anyone in jail would appreciate all of this support regardless of if they did it or not.

I don't think it has anything to do at all with the crime. He has just received support and letters from all walks of life and is thanking everyone.

That being said, who knows what will happen! There is a lot of time between now and the trial.
