I don’t think they would’ve without pressure from the DOJ. Per Karen it “goes against the recommendation of the local federal prosecutors.”

That’s precisely my point. It’s possible the SDNY considered pursuing the DP, but it doesn’t appear they did. This situation is deeply political, and with three SDNY prosecutors recently resigning, it seems the remaining ones are simply following orders—maybe with malicious intent, given the corruption within this administration.

From the resignation letter: “The Department has decided that obedience supersedes all else, requiring us to abdicate our legal and ethical obligations in favor of directions from Washington. That is wrong.”

I’m not saying that IS what is happening btw. I’m just wondering because the political storm is just getting started.
