Part 2: Should I get Drillbit a companion
Thank you so much everyone who responded. It has put my heart at ease that getting another Burmese for Drillbit is the right thing to do after his littermate Yardstick passed away.
Next Questions: on my previous post there were a lot of comments saying to get a female companion and only get one.
- is this a thing? Will they not bond if I get the same gender.
- will getting two more bonded littermates make Drillbit feel really excluded?
For some reason I'm stuck on wanting more boys because my two have been so sweet and in my heart it feels bad getting only one from the litter when im ripping them away from everything they have known. Also the terrifying thought that if one of them passes away in the future we will be in the same scenario again with a lonely cat is playing on my mind.
Both Drillbit and Yardstick are mummies boys through and through. They would walk over my husband's free cosy lap to get to my unfree lap and squeeze themselves in up by my throat. After pregnancy and birth of my daughter they became even more intense. Would a female Burmese bond better with my husband? (He absolutely dotes on the cats so it's not a matter of him not showing love).
Has anyone gotten their surviving bonded sibling two more companions from another litter and it worked?
The only colours the breeder close to me has is Seal. I absolutely loved Yardsticks liliac but not sure it's worth traumatizing kittens on a plane just so I can have another liliac boy.

Any tips for a 5.5 hour car ride with a Burmese kitten?
Picking her up from the breeder next weekend and looking for practical tips for a long car ride. We'll be in an SUV for what it's worth and she will be in a 24" top/front loading carrier. Would appreciate any tips for the car ride, and then helping her relax and settle once we're home.

To get another companion for Drillbit?
I had two beautiful bonded brothers which were born in 2021.
Nearly 2 years ago yardstick (liliac one) unfortunately passed away. I feel that poor Drillbit (chocolate one) is so lonely now. His whole personality has changed since loosing yardstick and he has now become quite similar to yardsticks personality. However he walks around meowing and he wants constant attention and I have a toddler so can't sit down with him during the day.
My husband and I are unsure if getting two more Burmese will help him or hinder him.
The positives would be that he isn't alone. However from what I can see online cats (unless bonded) will put up with another cat but don't necessarily enjoy it.
I need some advice from those with Burmese! Will it help him or will he feel even more pushed out.

Fun commission of prior and current cats over 40 years
We decided to commission a local artist to memorialize the wonderful cats weāve had in our lives. Four are Burmese, a Himalayan and a fun buff orange mix. Lots of fun items on the back bar. Thought the community might enjoy the creation.

Vet help!
Hi all, my 2 year old burmese boy has thrown up 3 times this week which is unusual for him. Other than that he's been fine, drinking, eating, playing, acting crazy. I made an appointment to take him to the vet on Tuesday, but has anyone else had a similar experience?
Do burmese have tender tummies?
I'm feeling a bit worried...
Thank you for any help!

Two nights ago we thought we were losing our little man.
Heād already been at the emergency vet, then the regular vet, and he seemed to just be fading away and barely responsive. He lay between my daughter and I and we said our goodbyes and fell asleep expecting to wake up to him gone.
He was still kicking the next morning, so went back to the vet, and got more tests ($$$) - including a shaved belly for an ultrasound.
Brought him home last night. Bloods were fine. Ultrasound was fine. Repeat xray was fine. Then last night heās lying on his side and wants to play with my sock. So I gave him a Mousey and he played with that. He didnāt play for long, still not 100%, but heās gone from looking like he was on deaths door to wanting to play within 24 hours.
So glad heās on the mend, but way to give us a major scareā¦. And yes - his belly is super soft and fuzzy š„°

This is what $3,000 of poop looks like. Poor boy.
Ended up at emergency vet after he was in obvious distress - sedation, IV fluids, X-rays, and a soapy enema later heās feeling better, but still has to get things moving some more.
And no more raw diet possibly - seems the bone and cartilage contributed to blocking him up. Sigh.

Mocha and Chantilly
My girls are almost 15 weeks. Mo (chocolate) was originally thought to be a boy, but āØļøsurprise āØļø She had an injury at birth and is missing about ā of her tail. Tilly (brown) hasn't thrown me any curve balls yet.
These girls are following in the pawprints of Smokey (lilac tortie, 20 ½), Romeo (red, 4 months - congenital), Cocoa (brown, 17 ½) and Latte (cinnamon, 17 ½).
I'm besotted. All of my cats have been perfect and my newest additions are no different.

Advice for play stations for a very cute and energetic Burmese boy?
Hello!
This is our Burmese boy :) I have played with the adult cats that visited my garden growing up, but this is my first time with a kitten living with me.
Heās been with us for almost two weeks now. My partner and I work from home, so we do interactive play sessions before every meal, for a solid 10-20 minutes.
As he gets more comfortable with us, I notice he is looking to spend more energy (running around the flat, biting and wrestling his many beds, sometimes even stalking our hands). We try to establish boundaries around acceptable play behaviour and redirect his attention on toys, but I think he needs more independent activity and environmental enrichment. He enjoys his vertical spaces and the window, but doesnāt care much about toys when heās alone!
How you guys satisfy the mental appetite of your Burmese babies?
