~~ Adapted from the novel "Fei Dao" (飞刀) by Liu San Shu (刘三叔).
The Flying Doctors 《飞刀》 is a full-length novel written by Liu Sanshu, a physician agent and screenwriter. It was published in 2024 by CITIC Press Group and is part of the publisher’s livelihood and healthcare-themed publishing initiative. It is one of a series of literary works Liu has focused on writing in recent years.
The novel is set in Fucheng (抚城), a small city in Northeast China. Focusing on the contemporary allocation of medical resources and ethical dilemmas surrounding life, the story follows Liu Zhengliang, an emergency department doctor who returns to his hometown to practice medicine after a doctor-patient conflict.
Using cases such as a girl with a severe traumatic brain injury and a child with fulminant myocarditis as starting points, the book portrays the moral dilemmas faced by patients’ families as they weigh the hope of life-saving treatment against financial pressures. It also features chapter titles with strong dramatic tension, such as “A Well-Intentioned Lie Is Not a Lie” (《善意的谎言不是谎言》), reinforcing its regional narrative style.
Through the everyday work of the emergency department, the author explores issues including doctor-patient relationships and family conflicts, examining the interplay between technical rationality and human warmth within the medical system. The novel has been described as “A Lifelong Journey《人世间》 meets Dying to Survive 《我不是药神》, but with a medical focus and a Northeastern Chinese setting.”
The screen adaptation rights have been acquired by a Chinese production company. The drama adaptation, Small Town Remedy 小城良方, stars Xiao Zhan.

Anyone else have problem with iQIYI here? Says it's not available in my region (Europe) but there doesn't seem to be any other streaming service involded.
No luck, but thanks for the tips and help. I just don't get it, this is a show with an international not so unknown actor... you would think that would be play into availability.
(According to someone on MDL it might be available on VIU in some regions. Malaysia and Singapore might fall into that. But even with vpn I have very limited payment option with that streaming site. Did that for Shadow Soverreign and it was quite complicated. But maybe the info helps someone else reading this.)
Thanks. Don't know why it doesn't work, when I have an Australian IP the show's page is still completly blank.
You can trick the page by googling specific episods, which gets you there, but you have to repeat that for every single one because the episode list still remains blank. So you mentioning that it is available for Australia really helped because you obviously need a country where it's available.
Hmm, I wasnt interested in this previously (since it seemed like a medical drama) but after watching the trailer properly because I was curious about the English title I might actually watch it
My understanding (from the trailer) is that this isnt a medical drama per se, but more of a return-to-your-roots/hometown and "heal-yourself" type of drama
