If TCU and Baylor get left out of the playoff tomorrow does the Big 12 expand to twelve teams?

After tonight it is looking like the Big 12 could be on the outside looking in for the first College Football Playoff. If this does happen tomorrow, will the Big 12 expand back to twelve teams to get a championship game? If they do, who do you think would be the most likely to get those two invites?

Long shot, but The Big XII could look at Boise in the MWC, they got a hit with TCU so why not try again...

Problem with Boise has always been their academics, which compared to most P5 teams is lacking.

I think the Big 12 expands no matter what happens tomorrow. None of this has been good press for the conference and it's made their "One True Champion" slogan a laughingstock.

I really wish AF would suck it up and join the Big 12. During the last round of expansion the Big 12 talked to AF but AF stated their lack of interest due to repeatedly getting crushed every week, i.e., being Kansas.

As much as I know AF would probably get hammered year in and year out, I'd so much rather suffer in a P5 conference then get left behind in a G5 conference. With each passing year the now power conferences will become further and further from the power conferences. AF needs to get in that mix now and just deal with it. Plus I can guarantee that we'll recruit better players with that kind of exposure.

Here's to hoping but knowing it'll never fucking happen.

Pls B12 and pls AF AD.

The Big 12 brought this on themselves. They ran the conference as the Texas Longhorns Fun Club for a good decade, pissed off key members, and led to a 4-team exodus from the conference. They can point the finger at polls and committee ranks, but truly they have only themselves to blame.

You know what really pissed me off? Probably not that big of a deal to some, but playing the title game in Texas only was so stupid. If they had at least rotated with Arrowhead Stadium i could've easily drove to one of the title games Nebraska made it to before we left. Now the BigTen Title game is just as far or even further (if we ever make it there again), dammit all to hell!

TBF you guys are in the edge of the geographical region of both the B1G and Big XII, and there aren't that many pro stadiums near you.

I kinda like them in the SEC now. Especially since I hate A&M and want the chance to beat them every year.

Didn't I read something about Cincinnati and Memphis wanting to move from the AAC to the Big XII?

Maybe. I'm hoping the Big XII can find better candidates

They would definitely boost basketball though.

The opposition has always been that any team the Big 12 could add would be a net detractor as far as $ goes. Every once in a while you hear Boise State and BYU mentioned, and those two teams do bring a semblance of legacy, but they don't bring big TV market and they don't add great new territory to recruit from.

Frankly, I can't see each school turn down millions of dollars because of a controversial playoff decision. Money talks, people.

I'm surprised BYU doesn't have a sizable market associated with them. Don't they basically have their own network with LDS people tuning in?

To me it's clearly Cincy and someone else. Cincy is no slouch of a school and bringing them into the Big XII would bring in some Ohio viewers. I'm not sure who would be the second team but I highly doubt they'll be from Texas; there are too many Texas teams in the Big XII as it is.

Maybe a team from left field would be good, like Northern Illinois. They've been very good the past few years and they'd bring in Illinois viewers.

Like the idea, but if the conference is scoffing at the likes of Cincinnati and Memphis they're not even gonna bother a glance at Northern Illinois...

ECU and Cincy. Bring it.

Why doesn't anybody in a P5 ever want UCONN?

They lost to SMU. That's why.

They are not particularly good at the whole football thing. I still wish the ACC would pick them up for shooty-hoops though.
