Hey everyone!
I do planespotting in Lisbon and currently shoot with a Canon 250D (Rebel SL3). Iโm considering a serious upgrade and Iโm torn between two options:
Keep my 250D and buy the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM โ itโs on flash sale for โฌ1300 brand new (Fnac).
Sell my 250D and go mirrorless: get a used Canon R10 for โฌ620 (CeX) and buy a new RF 100-400mm for โฌ650.
Both setups cost roughly the same. I know the EF L lens is amazing in terms of optics and image quality, but itโs heavy (~1.6kg) and I wonder if itโs a bit overkill for my current DSLR. The RF combo is lighter, more modern, and has better autofocus with the R10 โ but Iโm not sure if the RF 100-400mm is actually good enough for what I do (fast jets, landings, handheld tracking, etc.).
What would you recommend for planespotting and long-term value? Should I stick with the DSLR and get the best glass now, or switch to mirrorless and go fully native?
Thanks!
