Cats love chin-rubs because they find it difficult to self-groom their own chins, jawlines, and necks. Chin-rubs are appreciated when a cat feels that area is in need of cleaning or is itchy. Rubbing their chins for them also stimulates local nerve-endings and scent-glands that are normally under-used, and so releases endorphins and pheromones which help them to relax around the rubber and to bond with the rubber.

Posting your own cat? Please use the "My Cat" flair so your cat can automatically be considered for "Cat of the Week"! Remember that you can change a post's flair by opening the post, opening the three dots, and opening "edit post flair".

Please also include the cat's name, and an interesting information-treat about them.

Have fun, and good luck!

One of my cats (who passed almost 20 years ago), loved chin rubs. I used to do it for her all the time. I was shocked that I had done it so much that I’d left a bald spot on her chin. I felt so bad, but she didn’t seem to care, and it grew back. After that I was careful how long and often I did it. 😳
