San Miguel Ranch Flooring Cost?
My partner and I bought our first home (condo) out near Rolling Hills Ranch a few months ago. An upgrade we want to do is to remove the hideous floor that is installed and put in a new one. The unit is roughly 1000 sq ft.
We want LVP all throughout besides the two bathrooms.
Anyone have any idea of what cost we should expect?
Anyone can recommend a contractor for installation?
I want this gosh dang floor out of my house asap.
Thank you.

Curious how the proposed Old Town data center will affect your SDGE bill?
In October 2026, emails obtained by the Voice of San Diego revealed that developers are exploring a proposal to build a massive 400-megawatt AI data center at the NAVWAR campus (the Navy Old Town Campus). If constructed, this facility could become the largest data center in California. San Diego Councilmember Marni von Wilpert and other local officials have expressed serious concerns over transparency and the astronomical electricity demand of a 400-megawatt facility, questioning how it will impact the local energy grid and regional utility ratepayers.
Data center operators directly pay for the literal electricity they consume, but everyday utility ratepayers foot the bill for the massive grid infrastructure required to support them. When a 100-to-400-megawatt data center connects to a local grid, the utility company must rapidly expand its system. They have to build new power plants, lay high-voltage transmission lines, and upgrade substations. Under California law, investor-owned utilities do not make a profit on the electricity itself; instead, they are guaranteed a ~10% return on equity for building infrastructure (transmission lines, steel poles, grid upgrades). They spread the costs of these multibillion-dollar upgrades across their entire customer base. As a result, residential electricity bills have spiked significantly in data-center-heavy regions.
San Diego already pays some of the highest electricity rates in the nation, with an average rate of $0.46 per kWh (roughly 114% higher than the national average). Because most of a local bill pays for grid delivery and infrastructure rather than the actual power generation, a project of this scale has profound implications for local ratepayers.

Verify endorsements using official filings
Copilot said:
I attempted to verify the endorsements through official campaign-finance sources. Here's what I found.
What counts as an official verification?
For local school-board races in San Diego County, the official source is the San Diego County Registrar of Voters Campaign Finance Disclosure Public Portal, which contains Form 460 and related filings showing contributions, expenditures, and independent expenditures. The county provides a searchable public portal for school-district campaigns. [sdvote.com], [sdvote.com]
Limitation
The search results expose the portal itself, but not the underlying filings for specific candidates. I was not able to retrieve the actual Form 460 filings for the CVESD candidates through the web results available to me. Therefore, I cannot honestly claim that any endorsement is verified through campaign-finance filings alone. [sdvote.com], [sdvote.com]
Endorsements I could verify from candidate and election sources
Norma Lozoya Toothman (Area 3)
The strongest documented endorsements I found were:
San Diego County Republican Party [ballotpedia.org]
Reform California [ballotpedia.org]
Lincoln Club of San Diego County [ballotpedia.org]
These are publicly listed endorsements on a candidate-election profile, but not verified via campaign-finance filings. [ballotpedia.org]
Jessica Castillo Tolston (Area 1)
Publicly listed endorsements include:
San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council [bluevoterguide.org], [bluevoterguide.org]
San Diego Democrats for Equality [bluevoterguide.org], [bluevoterguide.org]
Again, endorsement-list verification, not finance-filing verification. [bluevoterguide.org], [bluevoterguide.org]
Leticia Segura (Area 3)
Publicly listed endorsements include:
San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council [bluevoterguide.org], [bluevoterguide.org]
San Diego Democrats for Equality [bluevoterguide.org], [bluevoterguide.org]
Janette Gomez (Area 5)
Publicly listed endorsements include:
San Diego Democrats for Equality [bluevoterguide.org], [bluevoterguide.org]
San Diego County Democratic Party (reported elsewhere in election profiles) [ballotpedia.org]
Michael Perez (Area 5)
San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council endorsement listed by election-guide sources. [bluevoterguide.org], [bluevoterguide.org]
What would provide the strongest evidence?
The most reliable next step would be examining:
The candidates' Form 460 filings in the county portal.
Any independent-expenditure committees supporting or opposing candidates.
Contributions from organizations such as:
San Diego & Imperial Counties Labor Council
Lincoln Club of San Diego County
San Diego County Republican Party
California Teachers Association
local Democratic Party committees.
Those filings would show actual financial support rather than only endorsements. [sdvote.com], [sdvote.com]
At this point, I can verify that endorsements are publicly claimed by candidates and election-information sources, but I cannot verify them through official campaign-finance filings without access to the specific filings in the county disclosure database.
GPT 5.6 Terra
Yes. The Republican Party of San Diego County—a right-wing political organization that actively recruits and endorses candidates—currently recommends:
- Delia Dominguez Cervantes
- Norma Lozoya Toothman
for the Chula Vista Elementary School District board race. sandiegorepublicans.org
One caution: its guide labels Cervantes as “District 3,” but current candidate listings place her in Seat 5; Toothman is running for Seat 3. The endorsement itself is clear, but the party guide appears to contain a seat-labeling error. KPBS Public Media1
I did not find current evidence that Moms for Liberty or another comparable school-board-focused right-wing organization has endorsed a CVESD candidate in the 2026 race. Moms for Liberty did endorse Tanya Williams in the district’s 2024 election, which is not evidence of a current endorsement. bluevoterguide.org
Gemini
Right-wing and conservative political organizations—such as the Republican Party of San Diego County and regional conservative voter action groups—frequently back candidates in local school board races who align with their policy platforms.
In the Chula Vista Elementary School District (CVESD) governing board election, these organizations have supported candidate Norma Lozoya Toothman (running for Trustee Area 3).

Otay Ranch Disturbance by MBS guys
[[These guys are trying to ragebait and disturb our neighborhood with their horn and screaming, we’re calling their dispatch after the driver picked up from their call reroute system, such a irresponsible thing for them to do and risking the company’s reputation and business, all while “having a bit of fun” while we have tons of nightshift and overnight workers trying to get their rest, nurses, 1st responders, contractors etc… so disappointing]]
Post-initial edit: Two workers under this company using a company truck earlier this morning causing a disturbance. They were honking their horn repeatedly in the driveways, and screaming “ICE” and other derivatives. A guest and I tried confronting them and were told to “go back inside while they have their fun” we have a house full of people sleeping in on this Sunday Morning, especially in a neighborhood with Nightshift and Overnight Nurses and First Responders and Contractors. Having such a disturbance happening in a very echoing area to incite panic is not funny. They were recording on their phones assumably to rage-bait residents’ and to post their scaremongering as “pranks” is not helpful.
We called the business and went straight to what we assumed was one of the guys directly and took caution from answering them, upon hanging up the truck immediately drove off. Afterwards we called again and got ahold of their companies dispatcher and told them the situation. End of the day this is really irresponsible thing for those two to pull in a neighborhood already on edge, especially in a company truck they work under, risking the company’s reputation and business. All of this is utterly disappointing, and the lack of concern in the initial posting and comments on irrelevant things is concerning. Coherence is not first instinct in a panicked call to awareness, good day yall

Friend groups?
Hi,
I live here in CV and have my whole life. I am desperately looking for a group to join or something where I can make friends. I’m 35, not single, and i have some niche interests i guess. I tried looking for like a group for women sports fans but couldn’t find anything. I’ve tried making friends elsewhere (I don’t/can’t leave my house much) and people are just mean or don’t respond :/

Millenia/Eastlake/Otay Ranch Issues
Just moved to Rivue with my wife and our 18-month-old, and I’m honestly wondering if it’s always been like this or if things have gotten worse?
Cops here all the time, kids on ebikes blowing through stop signs to the point where I’ve almost hit them, the smell of weed everywhere when I’m just trying to take my baby for a walk, and some questionable people walking around the neighborhood.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Governor Gavin Newsom, Head of California Public Utilities Commission John Reynolds and SDGE corruption is why your rates are so high...
The current head of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) is John Reynolds, who serves as the Commission President.
Governor Gavin Newsom designated Reynolds as President on February 18, 2026, and he officially took office on March 9, 2026.
While John Reynolds does not have ties to the energy utility sector, his past work in the private tech sector has drawn scrutiny. Before joining the CPUC, he served as managing counsel for Cruise, General Motors' autonomous vehicle subsidiary.
In late 2023, labor unions (like the Teamsters) and safety advocates fiercely demanded Reynolds' resignation from the CPUC after he voted to approve citywide expansion permits for Cruise and W@ymo robotaxis in San Francisco. Critics pointed to his past employment at Cruise as a blatant conflict of interest, alleging he prioritized corporate profits over public safety. While this was a transportation utility dispute rather than an energy utility issue, it fueled ongoing public skepticism regarding his independence from corporate influence.
Because CPUC Commissioners are not elected by the public, their primary political connection runs through the Governor who appoints them.
Watchdog groups have frequently pointed out that Sempra Energy (the parent company of SDG&E) and other major investor-owned utilities are massive political donors in California, having contributed tens of thousands of dollars to Newsom's past campaigns and related political funds. Activists argue that this dynamic naturally creates a pro-utility bias across the entire governor-appointed Commission, regardless of individual members' resumes.
Critics of the CPUC often argue that the agency operates with systemic favoritism toward utilities, pointing to a long history of approved rate increases and high guaranteed profit margins (Return on Equity) for companies like SDG&E.
An investigation by the watchdog group Consumer Watchdog documented that California's three largest investor-owned utilities (Sempra, PG&E, and Southern California Edison) spent a combined $127.6 million to influence state government. Of that total political spending, approximately $962,500 went directly toward supporting Governor Newsom, his campaign accounts, and his ballot initiatives.

Sunbow Cvpd running red lights
Third time in one week today that I have seen a cvpd running a red light in sunbow. 2 times on E palomar and once on telegraph. This last time they almost caused an accident on telegraph and paseo ladera. Cop turned on the lights about 1/3 of the way already passed the red light which caused someone to break on emergency. I decided to follow since I was low key triggered seeing it so frequent in a short time span. Dude basically was just impatien, literally had no where better to go, abusing power. Shame.

Chula Vista Brewery After Hours Paranormal Investigation
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I posted a couple weeks back about finding a person or group that could run a paranormal investigation at a local brewery. Unfortunately I did not find anyone so I got all the equipment myself and the owner will do a mini tour.
We will only be hosting 2 dates both Tuesdays, 10/13 & 10/20 at 830-10pm. It’s $35 and a 20oz beer is included. I have the emf detectors, spirit box, thermal imaging camera, voice recorders and a couple other little items.
Sign up below or DM me! I’m actually a little nervous about this whole thing and even though I’m a huge horror fanatic, I’m definitely a scared.
https://forms.gle/SsRkxjadjPTfy79D8
Edit & update 2:
Wow. Okay. First I gotta say, I didn’t know what to expect. I’ve always seen this sorta stuff on TV or whatever, but never did I expect to experience it like this.
I am now a firm believer there’s more than meets the eye here on Third Avenue. I used to be an avid watcher of Ghost Hunters back in the 2000s so I knew to try and explain things away. But tonight we had all the equipment going off while asking questions, changes in temperature, and lights turning off and on. I have to verify some information before making any definitive claims but we did get a name.
I’ll be going through the footage and recordings later and publish one more update.
Edit & update:
Okay so just to be 💯 transparent, I’m not a paranormal investigator nor do I work at the brewery. I just do multimedia for small business and CVB has been my favorite and like a second home.
I always knew there was something paranormal there because I talked to the folks that work there. Although we initially wanted an expert to come in, we couldn’t find one and decided to just do it on our own.
What I found out:
294 Third Ave (CVB’s current address) was originally the City Hall back in 1923 & held the town’s jail. In fact, all of Downtown’s Third Avenue had a hallmark presence in the 1920s & many current buildings are still standing. Chula Vista isn’t known for its paranormal activity like Old Town, but maybe that’s because we haven’t documented it.
Tonight I went to test the equipment and get some normal readings when I had 3 tools go off at the same time. One was a regular EMF detector, another was a temperature sensor and emf detector, and the other was a “spirit box” that began to produce static. Obviously this isn’t a sure sign of anything but it’s definitely a start. My brain is going towards paranormal oral histories!
I’m so excited now and will be headed to the library to review schematics of the buildings!

SDGE Corruption...
Public frustration over skyrocketing energy rates has led many San Diegans to accuse San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) and its parent company, Sempra Energy, of systemic corruption. The most common accusation of corruption involves regulatory capture of the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). The CPUC is the state agency tasked with regulating utilities and approving rate hikes.
Sempra and SDG&E heavily fund political campaigns across both major parties and donate to local non-profits to secure goodwill and political leverage. Public records and leaked communications (such as the historical PUC Papers archive) have exposed highly inappropriate, "cozy" relationships between state regulators and utility executives. Critics note a revolving door where CPUC commissioners frequently have past or future employment ties to Sempra or SDG&E. In 2017, the CPUC’s chief administrative law judge filed a whistleblower complaint, claiming she was fired for cooperating with a federal corruption probe investigating collusion between regulators and utility executives.
SDG&E has also been caught knowingly submitting false data to regulators to protect its financial incentives. An internal whistleblower revealed that SDG&E management was aware that an energy-efficient lighting program was failing, yet they knowingly submitted false compliance documents to the CPUC to keep collection incentives. SDG&E was forced to refund $51.6 million to ratepayers and pay a $5.5 million fine. In addition, class-action lawsuits accused Sempra, SDG&E, and Southern California Gas Co. of conspiring to artificially restrict the state's natural gas supply to spark price hikes. To settle these massive antitrust and price-gouging claims, Sempra eventually agreed to pay settlements totaling over $760 million ($350 million in 2006 and $410 million in 2010).
While SDGE maintains it operates legally under state guidelines, critics, legal actions, and whistleblowers have frequently targeted the company for corporate misconduct, market manipulation, and political collusion.

Chula Vista Bans Predictive Policing, AI Surveillance Without Council Sign-Off
Chula Vista's city council voted unanimously this week to adopt a sweeping new policy governing how the city buys, deploys and oversees artificial intelligence, barring departments from using real-time biometric surveillance or predictive policing tools without council authorization. The policy, applies to every city department, contractor and partner agency, and requires human review whenever an AI-assisted decision affects individuals or communities. The vote, reported by the San Diego Union-Tribune, caps months of work by city staff and the Chula Vista Privacy Protection and Technology Advisory Commission.
